You are brilliant. What a fiddle player. Must say though that the style on the last reel sounded so " Sligo Fiddling" like Kevin Burke. Whatever you call it I love it. The Sligo fiddling has its accents on the the 2 and 4 beats with a reel. Same as you played. They are strong and generally Up bowed. Thank you so much. Pete
Lovely performance. Bill and Erik, the last tune in this set was composed by JOHN BRADY from Ireland circa 1979. SIOBHÁN O’ DONNELL may have liked playing this tune. Sometimes, people name a tune after the performer they hear playing it. This can unintentionally mislead others to think that the performer is the composer. The tune grew popular in the north of Ireland over the years. Perhaps, from there it worked it’s way (through Scotland?) to Cape Breton. It is played predominantly by flautists and fiddlers. It also sounds great on piano.
The second is a varient on King George the IV, the much more common one is typically played like here Natalie MacMaster - King George Medley It is the first song they play.
I love trying to figure out what the set tunes are......and yes Anna....who recently married, is strikingly beautiful young woman. And a dynamite fiddler
+Erik Molenaar You're right about Captain Campbell - there are posters here throwing any old name on the tunes, even after someone has already identified them correctly. All part of the wonderful interweb experience. (I don't know anything about the last tune).
First time I have heard or seen this set played with a capo on the guitar and I must say it's pretty good but I still prefer the drone from the E string in standard for this set
Can't believe I lived 38 years having never heard of Anna Ludlow. Fantastic playing!
If this doesn’t touch your soul, then boy ye have a long road to happiness
I love cape Breton music ! Thank you God !
It never stops to make me smile! Wow!
I love the Cape Breton style ❤
I could listen for hours, lovely in every way.
You are brilliant.

The last tune is also known as Attracta Brady's and was written by her father John Brady from Offaly, in the 70's.

Despite other suggestions here, the second tune is the Strathspey Captain Campbell.
I have a wierd array of musical attractions it seems, I liked Harp, Mandolin and Classical Guitars, but now this is my favorite-fiddle.
Daidi Fantaye That's not weird at all, you just like some damn good folk tunes!
Me too, rock to folk music, pop to Beethoven
The second tune is Captain Campbell.

+Erik Molenaar You're right about Captain Campbell - there are posters here throwing any old name on the tunes, even after someone has already identified them correctly. All part of the wonderful interweb experience. (I don't know anything about the last tune).
at the end of the day they are just tunes. :) all about our unique expressions.
great music but why someone would opt for a fiddle pickup sound with great mic and sound techs on hand I don't get at all
Who is this guitar player
The world would be a better place if more people would listen to fiddle music, you’d be too busy dancing to bitch about anything. Peace✌️
can someone tell me how the song is called that is played from 2 minutes 25?
Brenda Stubbort's Reel, a very popular tune in Nova Scotia written by John Holland.
Hi! I was wondering what the tunes included in this set were? Thanks!
First time I have heard or seen this set played with a capo on the guitar and I must say it's pretty good but I still prefer the drone from the E string in standard for this set
Hi Seph Peters plays guitar Celtic Umbrella
1 Carnival March, 2 King George IV, 3 Brenda Stubbert, 4 The Mortgage Burn. 5 ???
5. Siobhan O'Donnell's
Grreat fiddling .
Why do these professionals never clean the rosin off their instruments? It looks horrible and ruins the finish.
+HerdingDogRescuer Why ask why? It might ruin the experience. How about asking how does it sound.
Matthew Chan Because I am married to a violinist and she always asks that question.
:-)
ah, I get it, you're a wise man, that's why. Cheers and happy fiddling.
Matthew Chan You to Matt! Happy Thanksgiving!
Because that's what gives it its raw sound twat ...
My name is Anna Ludlow, and I play the violin.
What's the first strathspey called?
2nd one is cutting ferns, I believe
Beautiful. Great tunes :) :) :) :) :)
Waking the dead, gone daft in the head.
Sing a song of the First 'Ginia so we score
To Cape Breton fiddle 'til we'll fight no more.
Pretty good, but you're no Anna Ludlow.
The top of that fiddle reminds me of a toilet in an old filling station.
