    Good stuff.
I think that is a useful framework. Worship leading is like songwriting - even if you break the rules there’s something important about having some kind of framework to think and plan against.
She got me - I was about to comment that no song will be hurt by putting flesh on God’s character and the reasons God is worthy of praise - that ideas are triggers to the repentance which is the only thing that makes real worship acceptable. And then she said that if you are more of a teacher you will lean towards revelation songs - and I went “oh - that’s me”.
I’m not sure I can see the response as the prophetic as clearly as I see the other two being pastoral and teaching but I’ll have a think about it. I do think that when it comes to response the language of our worship is up in heaven and must be much more down on earth - we say “I bow down and adore you glorious lord” - we are allowing that kind of language to be an escape. To provide those who enjoy the experience of worship more than the whole of life reality of it to find too much comfort. We need phrases like this
    - “I give others time over privacy”
    - “I choose not to pass by the overlooked”
    - “I repent of my focus on first world problems” etc.
    Real world worship.
    Thanks. Great video. Very helpful.
PS I loved how she pointed out that worship songs can be self-focused. But that’s because first world Christianity as a whole is right now. It’s an alternative faith which is centred on faith in God’s love (sentimental love), power and faithfulness - replacing knowledge and experience of the primary character attributes of God shown in the cross - his holiness, justice and mercy. Without knowledge and experience of which Jesus will say as he does to those who have faith and move in the supernatural in Matt 7 - “I never knew you”.
That’s why I am very eager personally that worship not be “theology light” - the more theologically rich songs tend to be the ones that reveal the attributes of God that obligate us instead of give us things - suffering servant, friend of the poor, lover of enemies etc.
