Glamour (at least in the early 80’s) was geared to the working career oriented young woman (resume building, dress for success). However, Cosmo was always trashy! I went to all girl Catholic high school and someone would always bring in a copy and we would huddle together to “learn” about boys!! 😳😊

We own a business and have never subscribed to any magazine, yet various magazines keep coming through the mail every month. Except for a few about cooking, sports or the National Geography, most if not all end up in our trash right away because of their poor and dirty contents.
We don't blame you. Ours would have to if I wasn't a speaker on such topics and trying to educate the masses.

Actually if you listened to what he said absolutely nothing wrong with it depending on the reason you read it. Look at it this way he runs a Ministry part if that is teaching us the evils of the world.

Another angle is this I spent 18 years as a US Army Infantryman it was instilled in us that in order to defeat our enemies we must know and learn about our enemies.
As Christians our enemy is Satan and this type of stuff when it comes down to it comes from Satan weather people realize it or not. So after getting all these he figured he'd look into it a little bit to see what lurked behind the covers. And shared with us what he learned. In essence he gave us as Christians some knowledge and insight of our enemy that's found within these Magizines, and influencing many Women in America.
Some holy and spiritual people are still permitted or even willed by God to read bad books and watch bad movies, videos or TV programs not to indulge in them or to commit sin but to learn more how the world and the devil work in order to destroy souls so that these people wiould know the right way how to effectively counter and fight these enemies of our souls. E.g. if these people would need to counter the doctrines of SDA, protestants, atheists, communism etc, they would need to study their doctrines, watch their videos, listen to the preachings of their pastors. This is what Bryan is doing. He needs to keep studying their false doctrines, listening to their false teachers/false prophets etc because Bryan is a catholic apologist.

They MUST avoid reading bad books, watch bad movies, videos and tv programs and the company of bad people because their souls will be put in danger. ONLY VERY STRONG AND VERY DETACHED SOULS can do those things and they need to do that ONLY if God inspires them.
Cosmo was bad when I was a teen and that was 40+ years ago. It has always been a filthy filthy magazine and I suppose now they all are. But I don’t think anyone reads magazines anymore. How are they still in circulation ?

I’m only 4:20 minutes into the video, and I can tell you that as a woman, you’re told that for a man to have 20 or more partners is “normal,” Especially if you’re in your 30s and up. If a woman says she wants a man who’s only had one or a few partners, or even for him to be a virgin, the immediate response, even within Christian circles is that she is hoping for a unicorn.
That's disgusting! There are many men who have not slept with anyone or very few in their past, and everyone should be seeking a unicorn for that reason. Don't compromise. This is how Hollywood and these trashy magazines have perverted our culture with lies.

My mother, the daughter of Catholic immigrant parents always told me as an adolescent that girls were supposed to be virgins, but boys were supposed to be "experienced"

Sometimes as Christians we need to openly yet tactfully talk about adault topics and how the secular world corrupts them. To show and teach the Christian way along with exposing the Evils of how the secular world sees them.

This was the atmosphere I remember from high school:
In one class we were given a list of statements to answer "agree" or "disagree" to. No names on our papers, so responses were anonymous. One statement I remember said, "It is my hope that the man or woman I marry someday is still a virgin." MOST responded "disagree." Probably because they hoped to marry the boyfriend or girlfriend they were already sleeping with.
I knew a group of guys from the next town who were in their 20's. They were all keeping track of how many one-night-stands they'd had, like it was a competition.
By the way, I went to a Catholic high school.
And those guys from the next town were all graduates of a Catholic high school.
And this was in the 1980's.
The MAIN goal of a faithful catholic MUST be to become holy and to inspire others esp his fellow catholics to become holy too. These are my 2 MAIN goals in life. But I think I am still far from being highly holy :) but I feel I am continuously growing spiritually by the grace of God. Praise God!
If these are not the 2 main goals of a faithful catholic, then, he or she hardly contributes good to the Body of Christ or the Church.
Yes, these are my 2 main goals in life: myself to become holy or a saint and to inspire and help others esp my fellow catholics to become holy too or a saint. I want to lead people as many as possible to holiness.
I will not only aspire and work to become a saint but also to become PERFECTLY holy. I will prove to everyone that attaining spiritual perfection or perfect holiness while still living on earth is 100% possible because nothing is impossible with God. (Luke 1:37) for those who FULLY trust Him.
I am a devotee of St. Therese of Lisieux.
St. Therese is known for her PERFECT trust in God.
I feel God will make me like St. Therese also in many ways but not in everything because God did not create us completely alike or completely different from each other.
The reason why only a very few souls or people have attained perfect holiness in this life is because only very few also have had or attained PERFECT trust in God's mercy. If a person would have PERFECT trust or confidence in God's mercy, he would attain holiness or perfect holiness even while still living on earth ..... even if he was once a great sinner or a very great sinner. It only takes perfect trust in God's mercy for you to be able to attain holiness or perfect holiness in this life or even while you are still living on earth.
Maybe you would ask me, "Where's humility? Isn't humility needed for our sanctification? My answer is every virtue has element of humility in it. So the virtue of confidence in God has also the virtue of humility in it. The greater your trust or confidence in God, the greater your humility also. Presumption is confidence in God without humility, therefore, it is not a virtue but a sin.

When you’ve had more than 20 sexual partners, I think you can just stop calling them “partners” at that point. Call it what it is, it’s just hooking up. People do not see the irrevocable damage they are doing to their soul by whoring themselves out and casually having sex with anyone.

At least watching Seinfeld, you knew not to emulate them because they were awful people. So much of the last 40 years of media is the direct cause for what we are dealing with today.
You know that scene from the movie "You Only Live Twice" where James Bond is in a pool surrounded by women? I now can't help but imagine that scene but with a woman instead of James Bond if that's what the media wishes to peddle.

Advice from a man to a woman: if my wife dressed for me before we got married the way she dresses for me in private now, I would have loved it. I would have enjoyed it, and I - to my shame - wouldn't have discouraged it...ALSO, I would have wound up honoring her significantly less than I do. Many (or even most) men, even good men, won't stop you, women, from dressing or acting a certain way for us in a dating relationship because we really like it. We'll also honor you a lot more if you don't. The blame is at least partially on us, but I figured you'd still like to know.
My advice to women as a man. Jesus is your perfect spouse even if you get married.

You're 100% correct on all points, no arguing that, it's a fact, but can we please offer some hope to women who have been with 5+ men? So many of us never had the good examples or any kind of TOB teaching and found Jesus later. It shouldn't feel so impossible to overcome. Our religion is one of repentance and redemption. Being reminded all the time that we're now worthless to any man who would ever treat us like ladies is heartbreaking as hell and it makes it so hard to even continue. And we all know that a man with 50+ is still viewed in a much better light, even in Christian circles than a woman with 5+. He still has hope, but women don't. Where's the encouragement? The redemption? The hope? The value and dignity of human life? I'm not saying condone promiscuity, I'm just saying accept repentance, even from women!
You are 100% correct. And though with a man has had 50 plus women and a woman has only slept with five, he should be viewed much more heinously. There shouldn't be a double standard like that. And you are right that everyone needs to know that there is forgiveness for all. Second Chances and third. Many men and women have slept around, and then come to Christ and let him transform their lives from dirt to gold. He transformed them inside and out. As we like to say in our Catholic Truth Living UA-cam channel: it's not who you have been in the past, it's who you want to be in the future. My daughter is in ICU. she's always suffered from Trisomy 9 Mosaicism, but she was still a very joyful and playful child until her recent cardiac arrest and profound hypoxic brain injury. Their dad (my ex-husband,) will be there this weekend so I'll be staying away. He won't hurt her, but I'm afraid to be there at the same time. God did work a miracle at another children's hospital to save me from him, but none to heal her just yet. Blessed Fulton Sheen pray for us.
Don't worry, you are not "trash" or "lesser", you didn't have good role models to guide you. Don't feel shamed, simply recognize some decisions could've been better, go to confession, shed the past & re-conform your life to the values you've learned. Pray the Rosary & look to Our Lady & our many great Saints for a role model, support & guidence. Ask for their intercession. I pray you & other women here will find the love you are seeking. @Vexx_Line_ thank you! I have been for 7 years now. Got an annulment and got on my feet (mostly.) Praying especially to Our Lady of Sorrows, Padre Pio, St Rita, and Bl Fulton Sheen. I'm just pushing real close to 40 now and still dealing with a lot in terms of the kids and a horribly abusive ex-husband that uses them as pawns. All the good Catholic men are happily married. God can change everything whenever he wants, but he's definitely taking his sweet time. God bless you.
SATC is horrible for young women to watch (actually for anyone) and now it is on Netflix. Yikes...
Parents magazine is awful too. My MIL got it for me and it was trash. All about how to indoctrinate your kids and live like you're still single. Also interviewing the "celebrities" that were single moms or had beta husbands. The only good things were the recipes.
The only occasions i have yelled at my mum is when i have found her reading these magazines. 😶🌫

Maybe not to that extreme but in some sense. Like I would never send my kids to be brainwashed in the public school systems. I'm going to watch half of what our culture watches or listens to or reads. There needs to be some monitoring of all of that.

Although I'm not sure if the Catholic Church will ever become mainline in the US as well...
No, Amish communities are full of abuse, speaking from experience living in close proximity. Just be Catholic. I mean, if you want to homestead, that's great but Amish values & community is not what most think it is.

It has always been this way for the sacred service of women in the Holy Church: the consecrated virgins and the nuns.

I started unsubscribing and disliking all relationship advice and psychology on youtube, it is outrageous. Just because some stuff are a certain way for the majority of the population doesn't mean it is correct.
1. You probably ended up on some "influencer" mailing list, which is why you received the publications;
2. The editorial content of these magazines, in some cases, is nearly diabolical imo, which is not a term that I just throw around;
3. Relatively speaking, five "partners" is very conservative. I have had two--husband one and husband two (widowed twice);
4. The women with over fifteen partners probably now have some issue with attachment;
5. My late husband had "slept with" over 100 women (he was a US Marine) and he attended Mass weekly. I knew that I was taking a risk with him, but he was a wonderful husband;
6. Men in the Church are not outside the influence of these societal changes. I am only on Catholic dating sites, and I have been told by multiple Mass-attending Catholic men (K of C; K of M) that if I don't fornicate, I won't remarry.
That last one is ridiculous. Many Catholic men need to be slapped (in love) and stop living for the world and justifying their sin.
I would recommend Jasmyne Theodora channel for any woman who wants to grow in their holiness and femininity ❤🌸. She's an Orthodox Christian, so her guides and advice are very God-oriented (though not too deep into theology), and you don't need to worry about them being secular. And since she's spent her early years living as an atheist, she also has a lot of insights into how or why men and women are the way that they are now.
Even though I would love to have a channel like that run by a Catholic woman, so far, I think her videos are one of the best in the community.

I'm a 38 year old male southern baptist, I have only been with 2 women in my life...I regret the fact I was ever with them. I was an atheist when I was with them and didn't care how many others they had been with but since giving my life to Jesus, that 5 or fewer partners bugs me...satan is at work for sure...

I tried using some of the points from your video on Jesus being the only mediator, unfortunately this was the response I got back:

You mean to tell me that Jesus isn’t good enough or effective enough to pray to? 1 Timothy 2:5 says that we have only 1 mediator. I don’t think that’s Mary. I know that you’re not allowed to but trust me, Gos loves a Berean that seeks him and the truth. Try to rely on God for this answer, not man (priests)."
So basically he just repeated his talking points and a completely ignored your points. You have to know that that's common. So you have to repeat your points too. Just repeat the fact that Jesus is the only one to go to the father on our behalf. And Mary and the Saints pray to Jesus for us just as our friends and our family on Earth do. If there are no mediators all that means that we can't pray for each other. So he should stop praying for others and he should stop asking others to pray for him because that would interfere with Jesus's mediatorship. But of course that's not what that means and that's silly.
I watched a video under the channel "Critical Disciple" called "How Would Jesus Feel About Denominations?" and it said some things that troubled me:
"...at this current point in our history I believe things have gotten out of control my encouragement to you would be to ask yourself, "what is my identity? Am I a Catholic, am I East Orthodox, am I Protestant?" If you have made your denomination part of your identity then you have fallen into a trap, the purpose of this video is not to get you to leave your denomination, the purpose is to get you to recognize what your true identity is you are not your denomination, that is not your identity and it never will be, you are a disciple first and foremost..."
"...your only identity, if you are a Believer, is a son or daughter of Jesus Christ, you are a disciple, your denomination doesn't even matter, some of us care about tradition more than others, some of us care about scripture more than others, some of us care about Faith or Works more than others, and some of us would like to look towards the leadership here on Earth rather than the leadership in heaven. Regardless of which of those appeals to you the most I'd like to remind you of this, don't allow any organization dictate your relationship with Jesus. Your relationship with Jesus is your own and each of us as individuals has our own unique relationship with him..."
Hello Kakaragi! Good to see your reply here. We are all Christians first but differentiating by denomination (or pre-denominational names in the case of Orthodox and Catholics) is crucial to determine the differences in belief, as each group holds wildly different concepts of soteriology, eschatology, Christology, and ecclesiology. This gives us a baseline to know how to communicate with each other. Is it a bit tribalistic? Sure, but we are humans, so it comes naturally to us.
