I definitely got a Caladium this summer without knowing anything about it (I just thought it was pretty...oops 🥺😂) so this is seriously a life saver!! Also you’re killing it, girl! Your videos are seriously put together so well!!! 💕
Thank you for this video! I'll be looking forward to updates. I'm from Chile and it's currently spring in here and I just got 3 Caladium without knowing that they go dormant, so this video is actually very helpful and I'll make sure to do this when their dormancy starts
This is amazing and so informative! Most videos only show the bright happy lush sides of plants. This will help me get ready for the winter and have a fruitful spring. 🌱❤️
WOW !! I have been planning on taking care of my dormant plants this week! Kat this is amazing. My Caladium was doing the same thing (putting out new growth), so it's good to know that all of this can still happen while I prep it for the winter.
I just bought a caladium because of your video! I hope you'll do a deep dive care video on caladiums one day because I will absolutely need it! Wish me luck!
i almost picked up an oxalis yesterday at the garden i volunteer at (they were giving it away), but i let my “mentor” take it as she knows more about plants than me (her oldest plants are 50 years old, where mine is three)
Always enjoy your informative videos. Getting ready to prepare my caldium 😀for winter dormancy...can I cut the leaves and leave them in their plastic nursery pots or is plastic not advisable?
When I bring mine out for spring, I water and put on a heat mat under a grow light in a shallow pot. Mine take about 5 weeks to start pushing new growth then I water regularly and they really take off after that
Im in Queensland Australia currently it's winter but my plants shooting out new leaves every other day, 4 leaves in a week and a half so far. Is this normal?
Should I be doing this with me alocasia which is dropping all its leaves except one and is turning yellow?😣plus reply, this is my first one and I’m so scared I’m gonna kill it but cutting it and putting it in dormant.
Good & Planty thank you!! I bought a couple begonias and this winter I know I’ll need one but i don’t want my roommates hating me lol. So even if it runs all day it’s nothing crazy?
Help! I have two and one is dropping and the other is fine and straight up. It’s April 9th and I’m so confused on why it’s going dormant. Shouldn’t it be it’s season now? 🥲
If it didn't have a chance to rest this winter, it might be taking a break right now. They also require quite a bit of water so the drooping could be lack of water!
I've bought my first caladium plant n its leaves are dying .. but if they are supposed to get dormant in winter, in this rainy season, how can it possible to show signs of dormancy? Can you please help 😭

you can do it!!! i was nervous to get the oxalis for the same reason but its not as bad as it sounds!
@@GoodandPlantymy oxalis and alocasia is going to dormancy right now, the alocasia is yellowing and dying back, same goes for oxalis triangularis

omg how fun! maybe i can do one next summer when they come back to life 💚

they are pretty easy with enough light!! if you like them you should get one 💚
ugh TURN IT UP! WE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE!
hehe
Plants that go dormant are always tuberous is basically what I understand~~ That's what allows them to die all the foliage and come back!
All non-evergreen perennial plants go dormant
Thank you so much! I've got my first Caladium and you just explained what I need to expect. Thank you again!
My frizzle sizzle and oxalis are just pots of dirt right now 🙃 my Polly has 1 leaf left 🥲 nap time for my planties 💕
This was very informative i have an oxalis and also live in pa so I’ll definitely be doing this shortly they are looking sad
haha they’re just a lil sleepy
Always enjoy your informative videos.

This is the exact video I was looking for! Thank you!
Always killing it with these videos.
Can you please give some advice on how to wake up dormant plants?
you can save the foliage and make pressed leaves too! if you haven’t already thrown them out
that is such a great idea that I wish I had thought of before tossing them 😭 ur a genius
I'm in Philly Too! Hey Philly gurl. I'm about to store my caladiums
I didn’t store my caladium bulb properly, it’s just in the pot for the whole winter and I water it sometimes. Do you think it’s still viable?
Oxalis doesnt have a dormancy period if its grown indoors with growlights but i havent tried caladium yet.
Can you pleeeeeeease do a part two... my caladium won't regrow!!! It's start of spring and I'm scared it's dead and I'll never get him back 😔
When I bring mine out for spring, I water and put on a heat mat under a grow light in a shallow pot. Mine take about 5 weeks to start pushing new growth then I water regularly and they really take off after that
I wish I could go dormant like my caladium
i’d tuck my tubers away for the winter

Thanks for your advice! Blessings!
Oxalis has corms. I'm not sure about caladiums I just got my first one.

This is sort of off topic but have you seen a increase in your electric bill with using the levoit humidifier (I’m a broke college student😩)
i had the same concern about my grow lights 😭 i have not noticed a spike though!
Good & Planty thank you!! I bought a couple begonias and this winter I know I’ll need one but i don’t want my roommates hating me lol. So even if it runs all day it’s nothing crazy?
at least for me, i don’t notice a big difference! i keep it running all day too
Help! I have two and one is dropping and the other is fine and straight up. It’s April 9th and I’m so confused on why it’s going dormant. Shouldn’t it be it’s season now? 🥲

@@GoodandPlanty thank you so much for the info! I will keep it well watered it has new growth too so I’m hoping it stays strong
thank goodness i don’t have any plants that go dormant- i couldn’t handle that lol💀
it sounds worse than it is i swear!!
I've bought my first caladium plant n its leaves are dying .. but if they are supposed to get dormant in winter, in this rainy season, how can it possible to show signs of dormancy? Can you please help 😭
Does this happen even if I live in a tropical island when I don't have a huge changing season?
The jump-scare at 3:05 😭😭
Yeah like Wtfff 😮
Do syngoniums go dormant to?
they might decline during the colder seasons but they won't go dormant!
Why did you snip off most of the roots on the tubers of the Caladium?
they would shrivel away and fall off anyway so there’s no point in keeping them on and i want to minimize any chance of rot!
Were you able to bring this plant out of dormancy?
yup!
Thank you 🤗🤗
yay!!! 💚💚
😌💚
My ginger caladium went dormant
THE GRITTY PIC
😤 philly baby
Omg I thought they were dying.
