Well, the eagerly awaited Supernote A5X2 is unfortunately a bit delayed, which is the bad bit of news, but there are some good news to be had, chief among which would be that it will be boasting a 300 PPI screen! Things are getting to be quite interesting :)

Yes, transparency is absolutely key. This is one of the biggest selling points of the Supernote over Boox. Their interaction with the Reddit community, for example, should be a template for Boox.
I am waiting for the A5x 2. I like the transparency. My reMarkable still works, but Supernote looks very attractive and a good balance between reMarkable and Boox.
I wish Boox would communicate like that too.
@@GaryLangEngr they are a really small team, we can’t expect an Apple-like product management from them. At least, they publish a roadmap. I’m a happy Boox user but I’ve been frustrated with the absence of public roadmap for their releases (considering they have one, which is sometimes doubtable).
My guess the “semi” folio means only the cover for the screen and no protection for the back. Could magnetically attached on one edge. If the back is sturdy, I like the idea of lighter overall weight.
My guess on the semi folio is that it will be a screen cover held at the side edge that can be folded back. Think of the standard folio without a back.
I'm torn between this and the Note Air 3C. The color and apps have appeal. But, I really like what I see in terms of the company transparency and organizational tools offered by the Supernote software. I'm less enthusiastic about the hybrid cover. I like the crystal version of the Nomad and would not mind that on the A5X2.

Waiting for the A4
My partner is coveting my Boox NA, so maybe the A5X2 will be ready for her next trip to the US, in the summer. 300 dpi is good! Transparency is always good.
A larger screen can be like the Ireader Smart xs3 10.6”. I think is far better than 10.3”
I am soooo tempted to purchase this device when it is released 😍. I have the remarkable 2 which I’ve had since its beginning (preordered it). Do you know if there is a way to transfer notebooks from the rm2 to the Supernote?
Could we get a "Should you wait for the A5X2" sort of segment? I (like I imagine a lot of people are) am really struggling to decide whether or not I need the extra space of the A5X2 over the A6X2. That and I'm extremely impatient 😅
I am waiting a4x
God willing, I'll be replacing my A5X with the A5X2 then saving for the A4X2... then I've got all I need once I've side-loaded a decent browser on both.
I am hoping I can afford one of these when they come out. I suspect Boox will have a new A4 size 227 or 300 ppi device before then though.
@@davidr1431 I'm hoping that the A4X2 will have a split screen option and can be used as an external monitor, that would be fantastic while the bad news is, I'm guessing, it'll be nearer a grand here in the UK than £500.
@@karlmunford7000 £1000 is too much for me to justify but I’m sure you’re on the money.
I do a lot of split screen work with my 12.9” iPad and my Note Air 3.
That extra screen size on the iPad really makes a difference and would be awesome in an e-ink tablet if the ppi was reasonable.
I will continue to dream.
Get the Air3C or wait for this one? That's the dilemma...
They need a light
Analysis paralysis! I was planning to hold out until this month. With some upcoming courses from April I will be attending, I was planning to take the plunge into the e-ink market with the A5X2 for both note taking and reading, in addition to using for both general reading kindle books and notetaking for both work and own learning. Do I stick to paper and wait still or just bite the bullet and order a Note Air 3...

I’m loving my NA3. I underestimated the value of the backlight. The 227 ppi is virtually indistinguishable from my Scribe. In addition to not taking, I use it for pdf markup, note taking from pdf in split screen, kindle, obsidian, Reddit, email, ChatGPT, Readwise. It’s a really versatile device.
I also ended up getting the NA3 and am enjoying using it so far!
Does the cost of supernote nomad will reduce after A5x2 release?
This is a much-awaited update, but besides that I am eagerly awaiting the A4 model. Assiitonally, I think that the inclusion of some level of backlight would be a nice addition in the future even if at the expense of the writing experience.
they should offer 2 options, 1 with backlight 1 without, alot of people ask for backlight. i think the fact it is limiting and doesnt have the backlight is better, but i can imagine alot of people would want it, even if the backlight was only set to 5-10% it might make a big difference to some people,
I hope we will be able to transfer data from the a5x to the A52.
There should be no problems there, as it is now possible to synchronize between A5X and A6X2, and technically, the A5X2 will be the same as the A6X2.
Isn't that just a case of syncing your A5X2 to the same cloud service you synced your A5X to?
Ratta had mentioned a hypothetical A4X2, but since then no news. Is it still on the cards?
As I own an A6X2 which is great to take everywhere. I'd love to be able to buy an A4 model at home because I do a lot of diagrams and for that the A6X2 is much too small and the A5X2 might be a little bit tight.
It will be released as they say BUT the supply chain wait list will be into August…
10 will be “released”, the rest are still in the factory 🙄
I wonder whether the a5x2 will have more RAM than the Nomad…
They confirmed that it will not, as it will be the same exact motherboard.
I'm guessing it must have, as selecting say... three quarters of a page of written text to then position it on another page has require more RAM.
Repositioning large chunks of hand written text is already _'jittery'_ on my A5X, so I'm guessing that will be remedied on the A5X2 with more RAM.

Personally, I'm surprised the A5X2 isn't going to be an exact replica _[apart from size]_ of the A6X2.
They will have different characters.
I believe it will have larger screen size with the same overall size, meaning slimmer margins (line phones do now). No idea what semi-folio design means.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is another example of unfinished software with plenty of bugs...
So, worth the obscene price tag then? 😁
