Well done monsieur Chartogne!! I never tried your wines but for sure they are good. Hi Agnes, I'm glad that most of the time you interview fairly young winemakers/producers and all of them very professional, humble and very very passioned. Thanks a lot for let us know that kind of people of the wineworld,.. may be lesser known than "great maisons" but certainly even important. Cheers
While popular House Champagne labels have their place, Champagne-lovers are increasingly turning to grower Champagne for a sipping experience that is more intimate, authentic and unique
I think Champagne Estates are making very authentic Champagnes, and growers are making very authentic Champagnes, and I personally enjoy both categories. 🍾🥂🥂🥂🥂
His comments on riding the fruitiness of the Meunier varietal are very interesting, but I may not totally understand. Is this typical of what a producer would do with this grape or would the same be done with Pinot noir or Chardonnay based champagnes? Why not embrace some of the fruitiness to bring more to the wine? Basically, he doesn't like the varietal but it makes his best cuvée. Fascinating!
this is my face listening his answer to your great question about how to keep terroir in style like Champaign -> 😒 and this is my face listening to his amazing answer about importance or should I say nonimportance of grape varieties ->🤗
He said 'My work is to be lazy' then spent a lot of timing talking about all the things he does to the wine. You made the point well that champagne is a 'made' wine and he responded that the vineyard is 90% of the work and then over the course of the interview he detailed all the work he does in the other 10% 😂@@NoSediment

And his Meunier is epic! One of my favourite Champagnes! 🙌 no, it is not very typical practice in Champagne, he is artist. 🍾
The opening is hilarious.

😂😂😂😂
I was constantly laughing cause of what he said. I find him so funny (maybe not intentionally all the time but still funny)
He is very open and with great sense of humour, which only makes him even more approachable and relatable. 🙏🏻🍾 Cheers! 🍾
Agnese you did a wonderful job managing his contradictions.
Thank You.. 🙏🏻 however, I didn’t catch much contradictions from his perspective. 🫣

This episode is so intense it should be called "On Wine Spirituality".
I loved the conversation as well, it just shows how important are the people behind the wines! 🍾
@@NoSediment and just how bloody passionate!

Fascinating... Gower Champagnes are a very nice alternative to the big houses...
They definitely offer a different view on the region and the style. I am hoping to talk about this in a different podcast, hopefully very soon..
Interesting, thanks!
I hope “interesting” in the good way! 💯
A very entertaining video! Merci!
