I’m sorry but you need to practice soldering more. Your tip is improperly tinned, and looks in need of replacement. When you apply solder to the pads, you should heat the pad first and push the solder into them. Your method of putting solder on the tip and tapping it onto the pads creates dry and cracked joints. Also, you should tin the tips of the wires first before applying them to the pads. There are a lot of failure points.
Point r16 looked janky. I usually work at 630 degrees. Allows you a little extra time to melt and heat things up. I’m personally not a fan of flux pens and go for the syringe so I can add more then I need to especially if you need to push solder around if there’s too much etc. You want a nice and shiny dome of solder on your points and I run a habit of trimming the leads on my conductors as to not interfere with any neighboring points by accident. 10+ years of Xbox 360 rgh/jtag and PS3 mod chip installs will teach you the importance and the impact of all the little extra steps in keeping things tidy but will also show in success rates and life span +many other factors. Practice is relative. Obviously you got the hdmi on it so you know your way ‘round so you do you and keep at it. I recommend a j-tip for the hakko, makes getting around certain spots easier and you can get more or less precise on where you want your heat. Crunk covered the major bits but always nice to see someone doing their own installs and learning. Disappoints me when I hear about people doing send ins and receiving hot glued garbage then to turn around and send it somewhere else. Good luck man and keep at’er! ⭐️

Great question! So, there are more complicated mods that work on all N64 consoles, and they're actually cool too because some of them even offer extra features like component YPbPr output and 480p!
