Farmers are the best at using their inputs wisely. Also, no one else uses capital as well as Farmers, while "getting by" on such a low Rate of Return on Investment. And, does any other business buy at "retail cost" and sell goods at a "wholesale price"? I could say more on that, but the short story is it's just not the same as what other businesses would tolerate. Meanwhile, when I was a kid in the 1960s, farmers were poor and treated as the poor too. I remember those days very well...going to school with "holey" shoes etc and being laughed at and treated as "the dumb farmer's kid". Later in my teens and twenties, when we'd be getting drunk, the " we were so poor that..." game would be played. It was always fun to laugh at who had the poorest car with say no floors in the back or who had milk cans with a two-by-ten across them for a back seat. Nowadays, people look at them as rich because of all their land and the huge machines they need to use to get their work done. It's been a strange observation to witness over all these years. It's always been a tougher business that most people couldn't handle. IMO, there's just not enough awareness of all that.
Agronomists come with the chemical and fertilizer company . They all believe in high input farming. Surprise surprise. But the returns aren’t there. Agronomists become trauma counselors.
Brother, I live in New York City, specifically the Bronx, I don’t know crap about farming or fertilizer, and I used to think I was a liberal, your video was a beautiful common sense explanation of the asinine approach to climate change that politicians have chosen to take. You can see that there is a worldwide agenda to basically destroy small farmers across the planet. Thank you for opening up my mind !
@@willtheoct what would you rather have, a clean beautiful planet with no food, or a pragmatic approach to climate change, Common Sense being a priority with food ? One of the greatest skills a person can have is the ability to listen, did you listen to the video ?
Canada's government is liberal in name only but in reality it's a bunch of wannabe communists who think they can do better than small businesses with central planning.
@@magicaltomatoes the first thing Marxists do when taking power is crash the economy and control the food supply in order to starve millions and eliminate rivals. Also can then politicize control through the “crisis”. Trudeau the Marxist has to do this more cunningly and slowly then say Mao, Stalin or Chavez and he is doing with the help of Chinese communists and the WEF to get it done in conjunction with the USA, Australia and Western Europe. You need to get access to the food supply. By some small land or a collective. They are going to starve white people. Mark my words.
I’m a city slicker……but I know that targeting farmers with “emissions hors__sh_t”…..is totally wrong and unnecessary. The average farmer protects the environment way more than any politician…….I’m with this guy!!!!!!

You're incredibly knowledgeable, well spoken and passionate about Canadian farmers etc. We need sensible people like you in politics to steer this mess into the right direction 👏
Unfortunately there are dozens and dozens of well meaning and hard working people who go into politics with the goal of making things better, helping their constituents or trying to get a message heard. These folks get relegated to the back benches or are simply stifled by their own parties and the chosen few in cabinet. They are forced to toe the party line and edicts of cabinet or the PMO and accomplish nothing, so the next goal is to serve / terms and garner a plum pension. These people are wasting their time and ours on a daily basis. They have no voice, they are there to vote along party lines. Try to tell me I’m wrong
As a grain farmer in the US, it terrifies me to see the continuous handicapping of Canada's businesses in the name of climate change. Farming in the modern day requires levels of efficiency that rivals some of the biggest manufacturing companies in the world. There is not room, nor desire, for waste, which is why this policy decision is so problematic and questionable. I hope that your voices will be heard, and I am fearful that the agriculture in the US will be under fire soon. Great video!

We also have the most stringent (and green) oil & gas extraction practices in the world today. We have, as a country, already reduced emissions by more than 60% in the last 30 years, and already employ some of the most detailed environmental standards globally, and are actively working with scientific research ongoing. None of this matters to our leadership as they continually strive to critically chokehold every sector of our economy. Canada at this point truly is under enemy attack… homegrown!
Both my husband and I were raised on farms, in Southern Ontario.(in our 70's now). Lived in Alberta for 5 years where my husband worked on a ranch. Loved it. Ended up moving back to Ontario then, as so many family members were pleading that we move back, a lot of health issues. We just don't understand what this government is trying to do but, agree that they wish the elite to take over everything. That seems to be the only answer. My husband says he would like to see Justy try to grow a garden. Or, know one end of a cow from the other. Wouldn't know a weed from a potato!! Quite sure Toronto and parts of Quebec put that crook back in the last time. Hopefully NOT AGAIN!
Thanks for your videos. My family were cattle, sheep and wine farmers in South Africa, with all the farm murders going on and the government doing nothing; the same BS just a different wraper.
The problem is, this food shortage is planned in the guise of climate change. They are tightening the nooses on the middle class. Don't worry, there'll still be farms, just bug and mushroom farms owned by the corporations.
We don't eat canola? Are you actually that ignorant? You shouldn't be commenting on topics that you are completely ignorant about. No crops require fertilizer if you're willing to use twice as much land to grow half as much food. Of course it would also require twice as much diesel to cultivate and seed all that land which would then increase greenhouse gas emissions...
I love farmers and ranchers. I think I missed my boat way back when. They truly are the salt of the earth. I am most grateful to the farmers in the Netherlands who are standing up against their Gov't and the WEF. I pray they are heard.
I was out all weekend showing my support for the Dutch Farmers. This BS is really making me mad Trudeau wants to fill the Country full of people and at the same time wants up to stop growing food. We Canadians need to take a stand against these little maggots because I'm not eating bugs like they expect us to do that's for sure.
JT and WEF want to reduce the population. Less food for all. Therefore the idea to use corn as fuel. They are so evil and the evil run so deep! It has infiltrated all governments, big business, and the world.
@@davids-c1f hey now, I need fat bugs, bugs need the crops to eat too so they will probably need to add fertilizer so the bugs can have enough food...LOL. Then they will spend billions trying to figure out how we can eat the bugs without harming them.
I'm not a farmer and I live in Ontario but I have always staunchly supported farmers. This decision that Trudeau's government is poised to make is lunacy. If instead of a farm your business was building bulldozers and the government said that for the environment you have to build them with 30% less steel, the idiocy would be more apparent. Thank you for the excellent explanation of how farmers manage their business and why government intervention is not needed or welcome.
I'm from the USA, and this is coming our way because of the MEATHEADS in power now. This is one of the BEST videos I have EVER seen on any subject on UA-cam. Probably THE BEST!! AND THIS SHOULD GO VIRAL WORLDWIDE!! SHARE IT WITH EVERYONE YOU KNOW!!! Great vid, Dick!! " You da man!!" 🇨🇦🇺🇸
Thanks! Multiple generation of Idaho farmers in my family 👪. Im sure the US is next for these policies, probably to put small farms 🚜 out of business so big investors and gmo producers can buy up land from them. Like everything else its only a conspiracy until its not. Great video hopefully this reaches enough of the right people in time ⏲️. Thank you for making it 🙏 👍 😀
Bill Gates is the largest "farm land" owner in the US. He also has a high investment in the World Health Organization. Could it be Coincidence that he bought up thousands of acres of farm land at the start of Covid? The disease he 'warned' us about years ago. He can pay any price for private land, but what if we don't want to sell? Steal the land through taxation. This is the REAL WAR on people.
INCREDIBLE video. This is not just a Canadian issue, this is happening worldwide and your explanation of the reality of farming is second to none. I will be sharing this with everyone I can!!!
It’s part of the global war we are in. I’m not sure if it’s to increase the cost of food for the world , to create a world wide food shortage , to force the world to live by a new standard so they have an excuse to force other countries to follow….something but our governments can’t be honest about the real reason.
It is all about ESG scores. Sri Lanka banned all fertilizer because they wanted to up their ESG score since this is now used by global groups to see if a country is worthy enough for things like investments. And we saw what happened in Sri Lanka... the government collapsed as the economy there collapsed and people are now facing famine.
@@davidrockefeller2007 I am sure some group in the west is behind it. Basically it is a score used to determine a countries ability to pay back loans. So if a country has a low ESG score they don't get loans or investments. One of the ways to increase the ESG score is through the environment. Sri Lankas ESG score went up when they banned fertilizer. Germany also boosted their ESG score by moving to more green energy... but now they have to ration hot water because they do not have enough power.
Unfortunately no matter how times or ways you explain this to the cult, they justify what is happening in their tiny minds. It’s maddening. Great video! 👍🏼
Wow, I am a maple syrup producer, beekeeper and organic gardener in Ontario and I must say that I came in skeptical of what you had to say but you made some really good points! It is good to hear from a big grower like you about how you are doing your best to take care of the environment too. I guess I am in a bubble here. Thanks for popping it and educating me a little more where a guy like you is coming from
That is the problem. The government and media keep everyone in their own bubbles by explicitly denying canadians access to information, and also by-proxy of culture-wards, where people like this guy are declared 'racist' as a default term for anyone who has a critical appraisal of the government's choices. And the end result is that everyday people now truly believe that anyone who criticizes Trudeau or the government is a crazy conspiracy theorist because CBC told them so. It's horrifying the level of control they have. I, as a teacher, have found that teachers (y'know, the ones paid to pass on information to the next generation) are the people who are most in the dark, most brainwashed by the government, and most vocal in declaring anyone with critically intelligent thoughts as 'racist' - creating more insultated bubbles of people who know nothing of what the government is doing or why.
You don’t live in a bubble my man, it is politics, they always want to sell us the world and then do things that maybe aren’t the right ones… Thanks for being open minded!
I agree thank you farmers really are the most important occupation on the planet we are raised in school to believe farmers ain't nothing. Farmers may be not as flashy as a doctor but doctors can't cure starvation the way farmers can :D. Scientist may come up with good ideas but who gives them the nutrients to think at work ?? Farmers!!! Please know your value for all our sake!!!
I'm from saskatchewan and don't farm, but you taxed to death easteners have got to stop voting for these no talent idiot liberal and pinko ndp. They are breaking the country with every dumb idea. Wake up.
If I was to guess, this is a strategic move between the government and corporations (indistinguishable at this point) to bankrupt farmers so that private entities can swoop in and buy up the land. It's a play that would take a few years, but things seem to be trending in the direction of government over reach and total control. Personally I am advocating for people to take up gardening with whatever space you have and to work together with your neighbors to take care of one another. You're unbelievablely more powerful than you're led to believe. ☝🏽❤️
Our government isn't that smart. They do what they're told by the globalists. The same thing that's happening right now in Sri Lanka and Netherlands, just following orders, probably coming from the Chinese Communist Party, to destroy any semblance of a middle class in the world so that the worldwide Public Private Partnership is in full control of resources, including the human population. Movements like CRT are about shaming people out of being successful and hardworking. There's a full on attack on the working and middle class to prevent them from advancing socially so that we'll all be dependent on megacorps and government to survive.
Farmers themselves are private entities. A more specific description would be "well-connected private entities favored by the government" The more you owe your success to government, the less you should get to claim you're a private entity. This goes for anyone receiving subsidies for crops, oil, electric cars and anyone taking land stolen by what we in the U.S. call "eminent domain".
Thanks so much for making this video. The farmers in my small corner of the world, Essex County, Ontario are intelligent and hardworking. They know about best practices in fertilizer use etc. Having worked on farms during the summer while a teen, I respect and appreciate Canadian farmers.
@@bipslone8880 He isn't being ignorant, he is saying that farmers are already doing so much to cut down on emissions/harm to the environment (and give many benefits like how peas naturally produce nitrogen) that a 30% ban on fertilizer would do nothing towards helping climate change but rather harm a farmer's ability to operate. And not once did he say that climate change isn't an issue or that science doesn't matter...

love it! I hauled grain/fertilizer for over 5 years, loved working with the farmer's. Been all over sask/ manitoba and alberta, some of the best most down to earth people are farmers. A comment I heard alot from non-country people was "why don't farmers "Rest" the land like they used too?" people don't realize gone are the days of small farms, to make farming viable you gotta be 5,000 plus acres to live. Especially when crops are selling for the prices they sold for in the 50's, yet equipment has gone up ten fold in cost, let alone land cost and crop input per acre. Even then i know a few big operations 50,000 acre plus farms that went tits up like one at raymore.
This has to be your best video ever. I’ve had arguments with teachers about farming and it would cause mass starvation, the cost of food would rise etc. etc. etc. Finally I had to say “and you’re the one with expensive education and I only have a high school diploma and I could see it and figure it out” nothing but crickets afterwards.
Good for you. These "educated" people don't seem very educated once you start putting ideas into practice because there is a major difference between theory and reality.
Difference between "book knowledge" and "real life experience". These people are SO disconnected from reality that they think you just snap your fingers and it happens. They'll find out when they have to barricade themselves in their house to keep from getting killed because they have a can of pork and beans... Later! OL J R :)
Most famines are not the result of drought alone, but are the result of war and other bad actors interrupting the production and distribution of food. It is all evil.

Just in your reference to the libtards. I mean this in no way as an insult, being educated does not mean you can think for yourself, as in critical thinking. They created their own and you are not in it. So, while you starve, it will be stake and champagne for them while they make jokes and laugh about humans dying off either naturally from hunger or soon shot by special police task force designed to "deal" with desperate and out of control staving people. For the police and hey, I am sure military will get on the deal as they don't do sht while government is at war with its civilians as an internal domestic operation, will be more than happy to gun you down. Almost there... Think of it like this... There's a massive drought on the way that happens naturally due to the cycle of our sun. It happens every 500 years. A lot of people will die.imagine the powers that be know about it, are letting it happen while simultaneously blaming the changing climate on everyone, except themselves of course and the fact that the Sun's cycle periodically causes this, all for the agenda of coming out of the other side of this disaster with a lot less population because most people will die.... The people that are left are way more easily controllable. Plus they won't get blamed like previous leadership that outright just needed people up and slaughtered them like the Nazis did for example. Starvation and dehydration killed them, or the civil unrest that will come too, soldiers of different things can be blamed and now they have a way to rebuild, the people left will be begging for leadership again because of the struggle they endured and the people with all the answers are blameless because they didn't kill anyone to get there right?
I used to be Green (politically), but the sham is becoming quite evident, ESPECIALLY considering the lack of oversight in regards to transitioning... you cant just change the rules and expect systems not to crash 🤨😤 The govt avoids research and talking with industry experts before making these decisions, which is a large part of the problem.
If you own land… you can make your own fertilizer. Surely every farmer should have a chicken coop to make fertilizer with. Not to mention cows and other live stock. Fertilizer ban doesn’t mean shit

@@danielhouse1053 Analyze how you're arguing. You heard social experts who conveyed a warning about the ill effects of chemicals. Did you talk to actual chemists and hygienists and people who have a grounding in economics? Now look at this farmer. He's personally invested in the survival of his business including knowing that people need to eat. He's already put into practice various growing methods to amplify growth and productivity and reduce nitrogen (the most expensive element in his business equation). He's also talking to intermediaries who have close affiliation with chemists, scientists and experimenters. Try to gain a fuller understanding of dynamics of a situation. This video doesn't say anything smart lol, it just screams a bunch of anti-government screeds while ignoring the very real issue of emissions from agriculture. He uses a bunch of technical jargon and makes some points about things farmers are doing to reduce nitrogen use, but doesn't actually make a critique of the policy aside from "government bahd" or give any evidence that reduced chemical fertilizer use will lead to an increase in food prices.
@@LightningFastStudios For something LightningFast, you're pretty slow. I'll bet you survive on government subsidies, and drive an EV with no idea in hell as to where the energy comes to recharge it.
@@LightningFastStudios Just because you did'nt like it or it passed over your head, does not mean it is not there. He elegantly explained that he produces the most amount of food for the minimum use of fertilizer. If he uses any less fertilizer it will affect the amount of food. That is called optimal. It can not be done any more optimal. Optimal is when the plants have used up all the available fertilizer and trough photosynthesis converted it into plant fibers that either you or your bacon can eat. Done correctly, as explained, the amount of waste nitrogen is close to 0. The carbon emissions we then are left with are the diesel used on the tractor witch are overrun by the amount of carbon bound up in the food produced. The carbon will then be released as we, the people, eat and digest the food. In other words: We, the people are the problem. Not the growing of crops. facts: A human produce/use 80W/h of energy. There is 11.000W/h of energy in 1 liter of diesel. 1 liter of diesel can do the work of 137 man-hours.

The idea that farmers "waste" fertilizer, especially at todays prices, is insanity.

It is all about ESG scores.

Movements like CRT are about shaming people out of being successful and hardworking. There's a full on attack on the working and middle class to prevent them from advancing socially so that we'll all be dependent on megacorps and government to survive.

I know plenty of farmers in South Africa doing commercial farming WITHOUT agricultural qualifications that are feeding the country and other countries as well.I also know of people that are REALLY good electrical engineers that don't have qualifications and are leaders in their field.
Just because he doesn't have a qualification specific to agriculture doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't know how to farm.
In fact farming IS a business so why wouldn't a qualification in business be supplementary to farming?

Do you think they would go about this global agenda if they too were going to be impacted and starve? Come on man...THINK for a change! Never ever deem these people of power as one of our own. They are not your friends or your pals just as police today are just as much an enemy as government is.
They have everything damn thing at their disposal. They are not part of our society. This is on top of the agricultural fire ban this spring. You can't burn the fields to increase the nutrients in the soil, and you have to reduce the amount of fertilizer usage.
Agricultural fire ban., where ? I missed hearing about this.
Well they could always burn the billionaires mansions and collect the ash to revitalize the fields. Thst way they are contributing to the rejuvenation of nature rather than just virtue posturing

What’s even crazier is these climate cultists have no problem with Communist China who couldn’t give a hoot about excessive emissions of any kind!
Why are we restricting the hell out of our economies while given China a pass as they threaten Taiwan and the world? It’s almost like they want China to take over the world.🤔🇺🇸

Thing is, this is NOT about emissions. This is the termination of small business (farms) and an authoritarian land grab.
Yes, 100%
PREACH. Global wealth transfer is on like Donkey Kong.
I used to be Green (politically), but the sham is becoming quite evident, ESPECIALLY considering the lack of oversight in regards to transitioning... you cant just change the rules and expect systems not to crash 🤨😤
The govt avoids research and talking with industry experts before making these decisions, which is a large part of the problem.
If you own land… you can make your own fertilizer. Surely every farmer should have a chicken coop to make fertilizer with. Not to mention cows and other live stock. Fertilizer ban doesn’t mean shit
Had to re-watch this video just to see your amazing control of temper. Another award winner! Love this one QDM!
This is a fantastic video. We need more guys like you who can explain the situation in an easy to understand format. Unfortunately, when it comes to voting, you can have most of the country vote blue, however, its that sliver of out of touch voters that follows Lake Ontario from Toronto to Niagara Falls that determine the outcome of the election, and they just can't seem to get their heads out of their asses.
So you guys want farmers and truckers to tell you how we should be running the world?
If not for climate change we should be reducing chemical use for our own health. What is wrong with you people?
@@danielhouse1053
Analyze how you're arguing.
If you're heavily invested in emotional thinking with a myopic focused on a particular element in an equation you're guaranteeing disaster for all of us.
PS us truckers had access to news from around the world. Most of us have a better grounding in reality than a lot of office or factory people have. I personally knew by July 2020 that all efforts to curb COVID-19 were utterly useless and the approaches used (with the elderly, failure to get people outdoors, economy, mental health) were self inflicted wounds.
It's because they live too close to New York
@@kennorthunder2428 what WILL guarantee disaster is a lack of action on climate change.
@@danielhouse1053
Read a couple of books by Bjorn Lomborg. He does an in depth analysis. He agrees that CO2 is a concern. The approach to deal with it however is myopic, harmful & foolish.
Frankly, the way you respond to the ideas presented by me tells me that you're "ideologically possessed". This kind of thinking is dangerous- history has already shown this within the last 150 years. Nazism was actually the "green movement" of it's time because Nazism thought Jews embodied a parasitical idea that hindered evolutionary progress - while at the same time (in their minds), earth's resources were stretched to the limits.
Your on a similar path. Stop!
Great vid. Farming and grazing is critical for the rest of us, no matter where you are. Being a smart business person means managing your land to be sustainable and be productive forever. Mixed farming and regenerative agriculture are key to minimising ggs and maximising productivity, sustainability and biodiversity.
There is one stat that THEY keep hidden from the public. USA and Canada have the LOWEST emissions per GDP capita in the world. North Americans live rich lives and produce the lowest emissions for that level of wealth. If THEY actually cared for what they preach they would be moving to have dirty nations clean up their act.

@@willtheoct I won't disagree with you, if you're always able to get a constant supply of organic food, be it vegetables or meat, go for it! But in order to maintain all the things that modern life has brought to us, and that we came to love and can't seem to live without, we do need large escale food production. There's just no way to feed everyone in the urban areas, factory workers with just organic farming.
