Speaking of recipes Salman looks a lot like salmon so I am wondering if you have ant salmon recipes. How about a salmon fish story. Seriously you are my favorite writer now having surpassed James Joyce.
I think it's one of those issues that has both sides feeling embattled and defensive, and that's why the belittling or dismissive noises come out. Maybe it's hard to imagine a real middle position -- people think they will be forced into one extreme or the other, defended to the teeth against their will and feeling unsafe with it, or else deprived of any arms at all and feeling defenseless. Especially life or death issues involving a school. So a calm discussion of the best measure gets swamped.
That's scholarship beckoning: the mannerisms,freewheeling use of language,masterful use of words and enthronement of fine culture.This reminds me of the intellectual atmosphere as a student of history (the pride of the humanities) in my university days.The tyranny of technology has almost completely destroyed that refined culture that this sort of education and grooming produced.Look at what's going on in the social media,for example! Is that also civilisation? May be we need a second age of renaissance.
“Satanic Verses” revealed discrepancies in that “faith”. However why so many similarities with Christ, and his followers.. how he prayed, rituals and teachings- commandments all very similar. Yet fundamentally different?
I certainly don't believe he is infallible, nor am I a conventional "fan." Sharp and intuitive as he is, he miscalculated badly about the fatwah that was declared on him some years ago, for example. I can see why the remarks here that you object to are potentially irritating in tone, being a little touched with ridicule. A lot of people agree with his basic stance, though.
You will give an intelligent talk that lasts an hour and fifteen minutes a thumbs-down because of a few comments you don't agree with? Is that perhaps a little rigid? Or are you one of those people who see the whole world through gun-colored glasses?
