Why is UPSC so important in India? IN US where I have lived for so many years, civil service is somewhere in the middle of the totem pole. Scientists, researchers, Doctors are on top. India is still a feudal society where people seek power, influence and wealth through corruption (almost all IAS, IPS officers are corrupt to the core). You don't see VIPs in the West. They are to be seen only in this part of the world. They demand special privileges and though called Civil Servants, they do anything but serve the people!
Grow up. Bureaucrats run US. And corruption is so high among them, FBI, Department of Education, etc.. that the young Republican Presidential nominee, Vivek Ramaswamy, is openly talking about disbanding them. Watch his videos. No country can run without bureaucrats. Politicians come and go, parties come and go.
You can't compare USA and India both are extremely different societies. USA is strong economy and population is less they can afford it. India is doing well focusing on itself and budget of areas of research will increase in future let India be 10-15 trillion economy than we can focus more on it

Not 14000 it's just pre exam then mains 3000 and then interview qualified students are only 700 out of 5-6lakh
10 lack me 14000 ka nahi 1000 or less than 1000 la selection hota hai. Mains exam ke liye 14000 ka selection hota hai jo upsc exam ka 2nd step hai
