Thank you for all your comparison tests! I appreciate your sacrifices for insight. You are exactly who I was looking for on UA-cam, and I love your cadence; straightforward and easy to listen to.
I bought an SX-70 Sonar with some 2017 B&W already loaded inside. It said IMPOSSBLE on the back left of the pods. Six shots spread correctly. (including my current UA-cam profile pic). Three had vertical lines indicating that each developer packet on the back was aging differently. Three turned out nice. And the other two had less than half spread.
Finally, I removed the sponge about five days after to prevent any possible sepia bleeding at the top.

    Very cool little experiment!
What are your thoughts on Auto vs Manual on the I-2? The EV -⅔ or even -1 seems pretty consistent. But I’m curious about what your thinking is on A vs M.

I shot some 2021 SX-70 b&w film in an SX-70 camera last summer with similar over exposed results. When underexposing, it produced a muddy, low contrast picture with no real blacks, or whites.

Yeah-- working as fresh as possible definitely is the best approach tho a lot can be saved if scanning and photoshop are part of your workflow.

The batteries were probably in way better shape than the film… Polaroid uses lithium cells now in their film… these batteries will work fine and hold a charge for at least 30 years
