It looked like Apollo was walking so carefully with Rens on his back, seems to lengthen his stride when Steve rides. Even in trot he is careful, perhaps he knows. Very astute clever horse. Lovely seeing you both out.

Oh, that is great to see you and Rens out together. I think many horses but especially social and intelligent horses, sense when to be extra careful. When I was a kid we had a quarter horse who had plenty of get up and go, but my little sister could get on him and he was a lamb. Apollo is that type of horse, well trained but also aware. Farouk was well behaved too...both the boys were on good behaviour. Looking forward to the next part of your adventure beyond the fence.

So good to see Rens back on Apollo again. They make quite the handsome pair with the red shirt and orange saddle pad. And you Tara, are you still on a high from Farouk's win with the muddy drop off stream? I love that little stretch up on the hill with the greenery and the gate. My first job was as a trail guide for a horse ranch that leased horses to the public by the hour. All the trails were like that one. At the beginning of each riding season all the guides would have to ride through the trails with machetes to clear them again. It wasn't like hacking through the jungle or anything... lol... but just knocking off the branches that could be potential problems. Every time I see that stretch of trail on one of your videos it reminds me of those days. Good times.

Seeing Rens on Apollo, they both look like they are right out of the most fancy riding academy! So regal. It looks like another poster sees the same thing as I did a while back. Apollo does walk so careful with Rens in every gait. I think that Apollo went up the hill and stopped was because Rens never went that far with him before and maybe got a little nervous of the open field. So Apollo picked up on this and gave Rens a few minutes to gather himself so that he could go on. I would be curious for you to ask this of Rens, was he thinking of turning back at that time? If so, this is yet another thing that will help Rens's confidence in his horse if you ask him and then tell him what I thought. Apollo is more intuitive than most horses it seems. You should teach Rens the "foot" command to help with his confidence over rough terrain like that. Great job! Two thumbs up and five stars! Pats, carrots and hugs for Rens. : )

Just stumbled on your beautiful video. I have had back surgery and imagine the look on a doctor’s face if I suggested riding. If it was on such solid and trained horses as your two, and mostly done walking, I know I could do it! I did get on a horse years ago and walk slowly around the paddock twice. I felt like I could do more but was being super careful.
Your horses are gorgeous, and the area also. Your voice is kind and calming. Thanks for filming this. I travel and live a lot thru other people’s eyes. ❤️

Saddle pad, under a saddle, saddle blanket or turn out blankets, cover the horse when stabled or turned out. These are the most common American terms.

Ouch, the bend in Rens knee is making mine hurt. In western tack we sit on our girl parts, not on our pockets, (as they say). How you can reach those gates from all the way up there is amazing, You’re one tough cookie Tara. Tell Rens orange is my favorite color, and orange and black is very popular here this time of year in the states. 🎃

Such handsome boys you have. One thing I have noticed is Apollo walks slower when Rens is aboard, wasn’t sure if Apollo instinctively knows Rens is a novice rider or that maybe you had a talk with Apollo about his back pain. Anyways, love the videos

Tara, what kind of security do you have when you move the horses to the pasture away from your home? I am concerned that thieves could bust the gate and steal Apollo and Farouk.

Several questions please: Apollo was so affectionate towards you in 1st video of you together. Is he still like that now that you've been riding Farouk? Is the person riding Farouk your relative? Is this person a man or woman. And yes, in USA horse's back cover is called a SADDLE BLANKET. Where are you located and what is it called there? I amin Berkeley, CA in USA. Thank-you for your response😍

It's lovely to see you both out riding together Tara, the orange numnah looks amazing against Apollo's black coat, he's a wonderful all round horse for a beginner like Rens and an advanced rider like you, is it Apollo's gentle nature or in the breed in general? tfs x Julie
