this work is way deeper than a one liner, this vid made me respect his intellect way more than before. his teams technical execution is very good and professional. art for the people not for some stuck up 'know-it-alls'
+berkay kiziltug He could still make his designs on Illustrator, and print them out on to transparency paper which then would allow him to screen print, i dunno though haha
@@MrPhotodoc yeah other people with machines that mate money with his pockets. (Solution) he should do both. Hand Paint and screen press. And show THAT process. Only then would his finished product be as uniting as much as you're assumption that it does.
what does he use to collage in order to make the paper that he screenprints on? Does he put a varnish over it in order to make it? And when he says sanding and then varnishing his work when its all complete...can someone explain the process and how someone could create something similar.
+vexedart.com are you familiar with making paper out of collage...could you illuminate me on how to make a paper similar to the ones he creates to screen print his images on?
blk stone Hello blk stone. Had a chance to stop by Shepard's gallery a few days ago and see some pieces in person. Not exactly sure but I would guess that you would layer, glue, rip, & stencil over designs printed on a various different thinner papers onto a heavier printmaking paper. Does that make sense? So each sheet would essentially be unique. Are you a screen printer?
vexedart.com I'm starting to learn. I have always wanted to and I just screen printed my first piece, not the greatest, but I'm looking to consistently work on it and paint. He also mentioned in a doc about sanding the pieces..
blk stone Sounds good. It is the same as anything you are learning. Lot of patience, practice, learning and failing. There are never any short cuts. I have been printing for 15 years. You will develop your own spin on techniques as you go.
The bit about corporations having too much influence in legislation @ 4:25 is him describing what true fascism is, which he willingly patronized by churching up Obama the way he did.
I love his work and i do not think its plagiarism people just do not like their photos being used unless they making a profit too or have been asked to use it
They aren't "his team" so much as they're printers working on these editions. Ruth Lingen is wearing a Tamarind apron toward the end. Look up Tamarind Institute to get an idea of how this situation works.
This needn't be counterproductive. There's need for artists to have an upper limit on their work. No hypocrisy in making money. As long as no one is exploited.

Ahhaha Envy lol of what cuhz he can copy and paste what a real talent..ill give Fairey credit the "Andre Obey Giant" paste is sick ass fuck and he put in mad work to get that up and noticed

Shepard Fairey's AOC poster is great and how it juxtaposes with his 'Make Art Not War' poster. Supporting a war monger member of congress and then taking the 'no war' stance is an interesting approach; albeit confusing.
he says "the screen I made"… but I only see a bunch of other people doing all the screening process and even the cutting of the stinsels.….it seems to me this guy only does the "designing" on the computer and the other people in his factory does the process, and I say factory bcz that place is NOT an art studio, even Andy Warhol was doing all the paiting and screening work himself… eventually he hired one assistance but this guy is just runing a factory
@Abovetheclouds359 he has got talent anyway.you can't tell that he just copy and paste other artists works.look at the level of design he improved over the last years, look at the overrated obama poster for example:it's very innovative as a portrait and he did a way better job than the photographer
"Look at the Arab world as not just terrorist but just human beings with the same desires to have families and live peacefully." Akayed Ullah a fellow human being before Monday December 11 2017 BULLSHIT PRAPAGANDA
No, No where near the Art Scene. I know the complete manipulation that the market is. It is more of a racket than Wall Street. His work is a one liner. Plain and simple. No one will know who he is in a few years. Commodified street art? Wake me when its over.
"Look at the Arab world as not just terrorist but just human beings with the same desires to have families and live peacefully." You did not successfully communicate that with your image. It looks more like a makeup ad. Get real. You talk a big talk. I respect your commitment to making art, but you are a lot of show without self-reflective substance.
Max Welter But if he's so against the industrial military complex and big brother then why doesn't any of his recent work say anything about the tyranny of the Obama administration and NSA??
Amazing back then (12 years ago) and now in 2024! Congratulations!!!
Always amazed by his work...such energy, such big ideas...and it just keeps coming.
I found myself more interested in watching the printmakers and papermakers do their magic with creating these works :)
I am doing art for my GCSE'S. My art teacher told everyone to choose a artist and I chose Shepard Fairey 😁
this work is way deeper than a one liner, this vid made me respect his intellect way more than before. his teams technical execution is very good and professional. art for the people not for some stuck up 'know-it-alls'
To me, the deeper you think it is the more far-fetched it is.
That rose at 7:58 is beautiful! really masterful stenciling.
Oh I thought he uses Adobe illustrator to make his designs..never knew he does screen printing..this guy is a genius.
+berkay kiziltug He could still make his designs on Illustrator, and print them out on to transparency paper which then would allow him to screen print, i dunno though haha
the tool doesnt matter, i guess its part of the process. peace.
His process is alienating.
Maybe but the finished product is uniting.
@@MrPhotodoc yeah other people with machines that mate money with his pockets.

Shepard has always had a clue... great artist...
what does he use to collage in order to make the paper that he screenprints on? Does he put a varnish over it in order to make it? And when he says sanding and then varnishing his work when its all complete...can someone explain the process and how someone could create something similar.
Great combination of techniques.

What's your take on SPACE FORCE!
Print making at it's best.
In this video, he discusses the ideas behind the works and the printmaking processes that he used.
The bit about corporations having too much influence in legislation @ 4:25 is him describing what true fascism is, which he willingly patronized by churching up Obama the way he did.
I love his work and i do not think its plagiarism people just do not like their photos being used unless they making a profit too or have been asked to use it
copyright is a right not a wrong
Fantastic work. I would love to attend the show, but - it's a bit far from Germany ;-)
I have no clue wtf im watching or how i got here but its pretty cool lol

This is some grade A pretentious bullshit, but god damn does it motivate you into wanting to make and sell screen prints.
They aren't "his team" so much as they're printers working on these editions. Ruth Lingen is wearing a Tamarind apron toward the end. Look up Tamarind Institute to get an idea of how this situation works.
he is a very well spoken person
His work reminds me of when I was in Art School. Very sophomoric stuff. One liners.
LOVE IT ! ! !
Great work. I hope it doesn’t end up monopolized by wealthy industrialist which will be counterproductive back to the initial street work dea 💡
This needn't be counterproductive. There's need for artists to have an upper limit on their work. No hypocrisy in making money. As long as no one is exploited.
a lot of people have no clue on how much goes into a Lithograph!
A good graphic artist

He's like doing photoshop in real life! awsome!

you must not know the soul definition of art then.
Plagiarize-look it up and yes that can be used to this form of art not just writing

Stfu. He's been doing street art for decades. He made stickers and posters popular.
lol
This guy is such a phony. He says a lot about nothing that really makes sense.
Intelligence sounds insane to dumb people.

Fuck that. He paid his dues. Shepard and Bansky all the way.
Max Welter My dude, you understand! So odd to find rational comments here.
Max Welter But if he's so against the industrial military complex and big brother then why doesn't any of his recent work say anything about the tyranny of the Obama administration and NSA??
Tool (you;)
leloodallasmultipass What?
My goodness this is pathetic...an insult to the concept of art
Hahaha, how so?
