My last boat was a Blue Wave. 18' 115hp center console. Blue Wave is a very sought after boat, it rates up there with your high end boats. The are designed very well with live wells, dry storage, seating, and all what true anglers need. Yours is truly a marvel, you will enjoy it for many years to come. Just remember, the boat, trailer, and most of all motor needs to be maintained, and if possible, keep it indoors. Congrats on a great fishing boat. Be careful, and have fun!

Those rear flaps are called trim tabs. They help push the boat on to plane to make it fly across the water. You start off with them down. Once the boat gets on plane you raise them up and the boat will scream across the water

to trim the boat left to right. If u have more weight to one side u can trim the one trim tab to level it out. To raise and lower the bow u just trim the engine instead of using the trim tabs. The tabs cause drag where trimming the engine just changes the angle of the prop

At 07:19 you are wondering about the "flaps" on your new boat - it is a Lenco Electro-hydrolic trim tabs that makes the boat not lean if it's different weight on either side of the boat, check out auto trim tabs by Mente Marine - just set it once and it will take it from there- (don't have anything to do with the company, just a happy user)

You need to get the trailer set up for that boat, hint: The back of the boat should be close to the back of the trailer. The bunks (boards) should not be hanging off the back and the nose of the boat should be high enough to miss the trailer in front. The bowsprit that catches the front of the boat needs to go forward and the bunks (boards) need to come up enough to allow it to clear the trailer.
Where are your tie downs? You need to secure the boat to the trailer. If your bowsprit rope broke you could drop the boat on the highway. If you hit something with the truck, the boat will plow right through the bowsprit and join you in the truck. It happens! Learn how the trim tabs work. They will give you best ride in chop and best speed when it's slick. Enjoy.

I own a company that does fibreglass and gelcoat repair for the marine industry. That hole means the structure of the boat is compromised in the localized area. You shouldn’t have epoxied it. The gelcoat around that area needs to be removed, the compromised fibreglass then needs to be chopped out and I’d personally repair it with structural woven fibreglass mat. After that, the area needs to be blocked out properly, color matched to the black color on the hull, re-gelcoated, blocked again, wet sanded, polished and waxed. Furthermore, I’d rough up the bilge and spray some gelcoat in there as well to protect from moisture.
All areas that have exposed fibreglass, need new gelcoat. Furthermore, if you have epoxied that hole without drying the moisture that has soaked into the fibreglass, you run risk of causing osmosis, which is when moisture gets trapped between the fibreglass and gelcoat and eventually eats the fibreglass, delaminates the gelcoat from the fibreglass and creates large bubbles in the gelcoat. Those bubbles of gelcoat then chip off, exposing more fibreglass to moisture and will spread throughout the entire boat, deeming it structurally compromised and worthless.
I’d also have a look at what that keel plate is doing on the hull at bow of the boat. I’d be questioning why it’s there. There are only two reasons if it isn’t from factory. 1. Someone was trying to prevent damage to the keel by hitting rocks or sand bars 2. Someone has damaged the keel and was trying to keep it from happening again (in that case, rip it off and figure out if there is any damage that may cause a bigger problem).
There’s a reason that boat was a write off. I would’ve have tackled it because it doesn’t cost me much to fix, but I do charge a lot, even though my prices are on the cheaper side of things. I’m up here in southern Ontario, Canada and my price would be between $5,000 and $7,000 CAD depending on the extent of the damage. A lot of shops won’t offer close to that quote because of the liability.

  • @justinb9939
    @justinb9939 Рік тому +7

Love the boat content. The four blade prop is for a better hole shot, not top speed. Means it will get on plane quicker, but won’t go as fast. If you want a better top speed get a three blade, but it won’t take off as fast. Four blades are better for getting up quick in shallow water. The things on the back are trim tabs, they help in a number of ways. Putting them down will help it plane quicker, and will hold the front down further to make it cut through rough waves better for smoother ride. Also you can adjust them individually to level the boat out when there is more weight on one side than the other. Pro air is a bubbler system to keep game fish and bait alive better in the live well. Coat the trailer brake components, other than rotors obviously, with something like fluid film. Saltwater eats those things so fast I have stopped butting them on any of my smaller boat trailers.

They were having dog's ears cut back and tail removed in order to get that "aggressive look" like it was a car!!
99.9% of the viewers told them it was an awful thing to do and so they said they wouldn't, specifically the comment they made was "floppy ears it is". A year later, and lo and behold, they went and did it anyway. Basically they kept him out of all the videos because they didn't want people to know that not only had they gone back on their word, but they'd surgically mutilated their animal for aesthetic purposes. In addition to that they mentioned he'd had some "health issues" which was super vague and that's why they'd kept him off camera which was either A. Bullshit or B. Directly related to the surgery (possibly nerve damage).
I admired these two for their good attitudes and the hard work they did to build their channel, but that went down the toilet the minute I saw what they had done to that poor puppy. so I unsubbed.

Look into a water sep filter for the boat, It’s super helpful. I’d go as far to say it should be standard on all boats. You had an alarm when you started the boat, always listen for alarms that was probably telling you there was water in the fuel.
You also need to look at changing that impeller it wasn’t pumping water great. Could be your water pressure off the hose also. It should literally spray out not just trickle.

Try to adjust the crank in the front of the boat forward before you adjust the bunks. That crank or winch in the front of the boat will move forward and you should be able to move the boat forward a few feet. It just unbolts from the bottom and you re attach it closer to the tongue

Love to see the boating comming back to the channel. I love boats. The trimtabs on the stern is for leveling the boat depending on the payload and/or swells and sidewind. The jackplate gives you more speed. Would love a boat like that but sticks to my Ocelbo here in Sweden. Great buffing too. Dont forget to do the top part aswell so that shine comes back to all the gelcoat.

Funny enough I actually started watching your channel when you bought that old beat up boat to fix up a couple years ago. I was debating between buying a fixer upper and buying new. I ended up buying a new Yamaha AR250 a few months before you guys bought the Yamaha 255X. Fun to see you working on another boat.
That being said, if this auction was out of Tampa I doubt it got damaged running through shallows. They're still auctioning off boats damaged in last fall's hurricane and this is probably one that floated off a lift and got hung up on a post or struck a rock. It's probably been sitting since October which explains the fuel problem.
Hope you guys put a video out soon of the surf wake on your Yamaha!

things to know about the trailer: A. The brakes will lock up eventually if they touch salt water. B.Make sure your ball bearings are greased every time you take it into salt water. C. engine props is an entire science of itself. Don't mess with it.

Those flaps on the stern are trim tabs, they are used to keep the boat on eye level with the water during high speed runs. When going fast, move the tabs to the down possition and the bow will lower into the water
