SKI CARVING Hokkaido Japan 2023

- I recently had the opportunity to travel to new places in Hokkaido and it was a truly amazing experience. I think I have found my new favorite ski resort. The slopes had perfect groomers, making it a smooth and fun ride. The snow conditions were phenomenal and perfect for skiing, making it an absolute blast. I even had the chance to explore some untouched powder and it was an incredible experience. Overall, I think I have found my go-to ski spot and I can't wait to go back!
Hokkaido is an incredible destination for skiing, no matter what level of experience you have. Whether you are a beginner or a professional, there is something for everyone. The terrain is varied and the views are stunning, making it an experience that you won't forget. Not to mention, the locals are friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. I'm so glad I got to explore this mountain and I highly recommend it for any ski enthusiast.

I like your deep angle turn . Very dynamic and smooth!
Thank you very much!
Technically and aesthetically, out of this world! Keep it coming Reilly!
It's a pleasure to watch you ski and learn from you 😊
Thanks for watching!
Love the stivot at 1’17” ❤🎉
😁
Reilly, your skiing style is the best!
Blessing my eyes
Love the fluid transition, the pole touch and bounce while you topple and let your inside hand get closer to the snow. Your edge angles must be over 80’! This a blue/black run?
🙏 there are blue and black runs in this video (intermediate - advanced groomers)
Amazing!
🙏
Enjoyed watching that. Thanks.
Reilly, you are poetry in motion.
It looks so easy, but it is so difficult. Especially if you're over 60 and getting two years older every year ;-)
Reilly absolute fantastic skiing as always. And fantastic Japanese real snow and not our artificial shit snow
in the Alpes etc...
Good work as always!
Thank you!
Epic skiing, epic videography.
🙏
wonderful video
Great skiing and love the music
Thank you!
Show off! No, seriously, beautiful form! Can't wait to fly up to Furano soon with my new Salomon Bolds
Enjoy Furano!
Beautiful skiing😍
Thank you!
Beautiful style Reilly
Thank you!!
Reilly, thanks for the great videos. I want to learn to carve just like you. I am 177 cm and about 80kg. What length and radius ski do you think I should use to ski like you in this video. What radius did you use? I think Original + is no longer in the business.
my skis are 175cm 16m radius here in this video.
01:16 Mini-drift!
Video after video, I'm amazed at how few people are on the slopes when you film.
Do they close the runs for you when you film? Do you film really early in the morning? What's the secret?
I'm more than a little envious, as the mountain I ski is just overrun with crowds of bad skiers, making it dangerous to take a lot of space laterally to really carve the skis...
It's called being patient 🤣! Waiting maybe 5-`10 minutes for a gap of no people. People come in waves so as long as you are OK with waiting a bit you can usually get a gap of 15 seconds with very few people on the hill even on a weekend like this was filmed.
Thanks Reilly !!!
😀
Hi Reilly! Drift moment on 0:49 is awesome! It was intentional demo or enforced to speed control, bump avoidance, etc?
it was intentional for fun
ようこそ北海道へ🇯🇵🇯🇵
arigato!
Такие заклоны очень эффектны. Но, Рейли! Суставы и связки ведь дороже, не правда ли? That's a lot to take in. But, Reilly! Joints and ligaments are more expensive, aren't they?
I have no idea what you are talking about?
Is it me, or do I spot even more fluidity in your skiing?
Always trying to get more fluid! Nice you noticed
Love the videos, watch them often, My question what to you ski as a all mountain ski.? I ski Head SuperShapes most days but want a mid 80 mm ski for all day exploring the resort. Thanks
Rossignol HD experience 88mm around 12m turn radius on piste with tip and tail rocker
Super short radius on groomed runs😂
Ese are the skis I use hi
Would you recommend using carving skis for skiing niseko in late Dec? If you don’t mind me asking, what skis were you using in this video? Width underfoot?
i use these all season in Niseko.. Its the Original + mod 6X 175cm 16m radius 68mm underfoot
My goal for your next camp I'm attending💪
Looking forward to seeing you!
🔥🔥
😅
Totally unbiased of course
nice work Reilly! you stay in Hokkaido for a while? wish i see you in person...
another 2 weeks
Looks pretty good. Mistake: shoulders leaning too far to the inside, you'll pop the outside ski off the ground eventually. Try to drop your outside hand and shoulders down to the outside of the turn a bit more. 2:56 is a good example where you need to improve your position.
go tell ted ligety 🤣 ua-cam.com/video/MJ3cgpxiMgs/v-deo.html
lol, yup, Ted was certainly a master at this and in GS gates its a much safer space. Watch Hirscher a bit he does not drop like that as much.
@@WRXDannyW you mean like this? 🤣 instagram.com/p/BaGjWUYgmw5/
@@WRXDannyW this? 🤣 instagram.com/p/CXO0WtYoYOs/
@@ReillyMcGlashan -seriously dude, you're comparing yourself to Ted Ligety and Marcel Hirscher? All credit to your polish and refinement, but it's design versus art and a totally different level of chops. Your jam is a hill groomed to an inch of its life and then an overlay of metronomically perfect easy-peasy, lemon-cheesy carves. All in slow-mo and set to elevator electronica..smh... Out of chaos beauty is born, don't you know? And out of too much control is mere product. Don't you ever feel the need to get messy? To get lost and find something new and startling?
Rad! What ski, what radius? I feel like I know my ski’s and I can’t put my finger on what your skiing..
It’s an original + mod 6x 175cm 16m radius
Go Rudolf.......
What ski radius are you on Reilly
Thanks Richard
16m
Kamui
Great video as always! Where in Hokkaido?
This was Kamui Ski Links
@@ReillyMcGlashan Nice. I saw a video of Nana Ookawa skiing there.
Mr Smooth
what resort? i'm spending the entire season there and want to purely want to work on my carving on groomers.
This resort is called Kamui Ski Links in Hokkaido... Monday to Friday is empty and it has great groomers. If you want a recommendation for a place to stay let me know.
@@ReillyMcGlashan thanks! I’m still finalizing my plans and will be staying closer to furano - but I’ll have a car, so plan to drive all over between the Niseko, Sapporo and Furano regions. Kamui Ski Links is on my list!
What are your favorite resorts for groomers around Hokkaido? I’m almost more excited about working on my carving than the powder 😁
@@oakland439 Kamui ski links is the best carving i have had in Hokkaido. Much better than Niseko, Rusutsu, Furano etc. It has a gondola that goes top to bottom 600m vert and there are three pitches on the way down, top section is medium pitch, middle section is steep and wide and the last part is flat so you have all the different types of training you can have.
There is only one accommodation close to the mountain base in Kamui. Otherwise you have to stay in Asahikawa
@@ReillyMcGlashan wow. Great tips. Thank you!!
