Thank you so much! Do you know what I really like about your videos? Apart from you being a very good teacher of watercolour, I also see a definite difference between your way of painting and explaining in your older and newer recordings. Your way of painting is always growing and developing and you take us by the hand to show us that, too. So generous! I admire all your older paintings as well, don't get me wrong, but it is so lovely (and encouraging to me! ) to see this growth in an accomplished painter such as yourself. I have learned so much from you over the last couple of years, and I am very grateful and want to thank you . I quite often recommend you videos to painter friends, and I'm always telling them to have a look at them on UA-cam and Skillshare, because you are so precise in your explanations and a good teacher, imo, and I have just realised I have never actually told you.
Painting with French Ultra Marine, Burnt Sienna and Vandyke Brown has changed my world. I can’t believe the variations in color I can achieve with just 3 colors. Thanks for the color mixing tips!
....hello, Louise ...I live in Louisiana, USA - I'm a retired teacher ...I love your paintings & how you teach - please keep up the great work ...love you & Don - be happy & many blessing to yall
Ok so I feel a little kid jumping up and down with glee!! Omg omg omg! I LOVE this and the others you teased us with! Can’t WAIT for THIS tutorial. I have shells and rocks and acorns and bits of nature all over my studio with the aim to paint them “ one of these days” . You just made it look stunningly beautiful, simple to execute and definitely art for the wall coming right up! So many of my friends have beach themes in their homes and I can see some of these gracing their walls! Thank you for this! Love love love! Always something new and exciting from the lovely lady in Oz!
Absolutely lovely shells! Burnt sienna and French Ultramarine is one of my favorite combinations. Not only do they make a gorgeous gray, but they play off each other (warm/cool) so effectively. Thank you for another wonderful tutorial/demo!
I really enjoyed watching you LOUISE. And I have to say I especially like the way you can laugh at yourself at the end I always wait for those bits! Thank you again
Love your bloopers. The shells are wonderful and inspire me to go back to painting after some health problems. Just discovered your tutorial and I am glad I did.
i Love your work and your videos help me so much ! Thank you Louise. And thanks for sharing your bloopers, i tend to take everything so seriously and by sharing, it helps me lighten up and laugh.
I am about to paint my first sea shells from my own little collection and needed some guidance. Thank you so much for the excellent instructions, and especially the tip about mixing colours. This tip could be very useful for painting other subjects as well, such as leaves, rocks, brickwork, etc. I also enjoyed you sharing the bloopers at the end! Thank you!
Louise, oh my goodness how exciting to see how you painted those beautiful sea shells. Now that our art stores are open, I have to go and buy the necessary colours to paint with you. Thank you so much, Helene Edgington
I’ve been watching quite a few watercolor tutorials for the past year, and I keep coming back to you. For whatever reason, this is the style of painting that I enjoy most, and I love the way you mix your colors, allowing them to separate, and picking up different areas. I tried Skillshare for a short time, but I felt like I was paying for a lot of courses that didn’t interest me at all. Plus, having so much available is kind of overwhelming and distracting! I’m going to look at Patreon to see what you’re offering there. Thank you!
OMG! I am a Patreon member but never saw this one. The end is the best I love it! It would be me! I don't even have the courage to get in front of a camera. Love it! Your the best Louise!
Love this and can't wait to try painting a sea shell. I like your tip about not over mixing your colours and picking up colour from different places on your palette. I'll try this. Thanks for sharing your talent and the hilarious outtakes.
Looking forward to seeing these shells on patreon and trying to paint them with you. Thanks Louise, I really enjoy your teaching style and learn so much from watching your videos.
What an incredible teacher you are Louise! You break everything down so it’s easy to understand and follow. Thank you for sharing another wonderful tutorial.
I always giggle with delight as I'm watching your bloopers... after having tried to absorb every bit of the video... and anticipating the full tutorial. Thanks for bringing such fun and inspiration to us all! 💜💛💚
Oh Louise, thank you for sharing. I’m so excited to report that I recently had a happy accident where I discovered this amazing tip of not mixing the paint to vigorously. What an exciting piece I ended up with that day. Joyous for a quasi beginner. I say quasi because I’m not new to watercolor, I just don’t get to paint as often as I’d like for various health reasons, like arthritis for instance. Blessings to you!
I enjoyed this video very much...both the subject of shells and the lovely instructions to allow your paint to separate on the palette and go with whatever happens and pick up color from different sections. I look forward to trying this!
Wonderful video as always Louise. This showed up just in time for my birthday, so happy birthday to me!! These shells came out amazing!! I can't wait to try my hand at it :) Have a blessed weekend.
This was a great tutorial, such wonderful explanations for everything you do. It feels very doable! And again, I really enjoyed the outtakes. 😂 Thank you so much!
Thank you! I have some tutorials specifically for beginners. They are labelled (beginner, intermediate, advanced) on the index I have made on my website. Some subjects are harder to paint than others but most of my tutorials are structured and voiced over so that even beginners can try out some of the more difficult paintings.
Hi Louise, Love your work, love your bloopers too. Have you ever painted fish? - I love to SCUBA dive and I dabble a little in Watercolour these days too. I started a project on some clownfish in an anemone that has presented some real challenges but it has been fun to paint. I'd love to see your take on something like this. Cheers Jenny G
Watching the Aussie TV show, Jack Irish. Could have sworn someone nicked your soft voice, nicely cropped brown hair persona. I take it as an honorable showing from the entertainment biz. Because now you're a celebrity! (See Series 1 Episode 1). It's past due, I think. Such a wonderful artist. Thank you for your lessons. Much appreciated here.
Your videos are so helpful, and I really enjoy your soothing voice! Have you ever thought about creating content for relaxation or helping people fall asleep? I think it would be wonderful!
You sound so much better on this tutorial Louise. I hope that means your over your sinus infection. I'm very excited about this tutorial because I love, love, love seashells and I have several in my home. My mom's a collector, too. I now have a birthday idea for her! :-) At the beginning of your tutorial when you show 3 shell paintings in mats/frames is that some sort of framing app or have you already matted and framed them?
Dear Louise, I like your videos very much, but can you explain how you get your subject in pencil on paper? Especially the large paintings. Thank you and greetings from the Netherlands.
I understand it must be frustrating to have to 're-take', but thank you for leaving them on there. They made me chuckle :) Your tutorials are great! You make me feel like I can actually pull it off well :D Thank you!
Thank you so much!

Thank you, Louise. You tips on mixing, without overmixing, and your tips along the way as you paint are very, very helpful. Beautiful paintings.

Thank you, Louise. I will try your tip about not overmixing. The other message I received from this lesson is that it is okay to paint shadows first.

Hope these will show up on Patreon who doesn't love sea shells especially when it is so hot now that we are in summer high temperatures.
Thanks Geraldine. All four shells will be on Patreon when I get the tutorial finished.
