If the Empire won they could annex Skyrim and take it's resources to rebuild their army (mind you the Empire is dying anyway so even if they beat the thalmor it'd be a phyrric victory, but that's beside the point). If Skyrim wins the Nords dig in to make conquering Skyrim impossible until they're in a position to actually invade without losing territory. Either way, like you said, sacking the embassy is a bad idea. But still, I feel like Elenwen would get all pissy because you ended the civil war and try to kill you. So she could've been a boss without sacking the embassy

So far I'm not seeing the hype. I think either Skyrim or Morrowind beats Oblivion decisively imo rn

Sorry, but the Dexter bit was super far off the mark. Honestly the Nords of Oblivion were like hearty tavern goers, fairly mild mannered- not at all like the take charge, beard-wielding rugged barbarians from Morrowind.
When I was a little kid, I would always rush the arena in oblivion and get hard stomped by an early fight. I found out though that the Nord Racial did huge damage to that specific fight and I used it to cheese my way up until the fight with the 3 argonians, then I got hard stuck again lmao
How did i forget Dede had friends? That quest in morrowind brings back memories. I used to save anytime I spotted someone out in the wild because back then, there was no indication as to who was friendly. Spotted this guy didn't even save because it was quite clear he was unarmed. Always sided with the woman. His story just seemed fishy.
The funny thing is we didn't save because he's unarmed but that chad level 10, 55 hand to hand barbarian absolutely smacks, literally. So many newbie players turned into blood pulp by those hands.

I mean people criticize the way Ulfric has the Dark Elfs in a slum, but to be honest they are nothing more than outsiders who are doing no favors for themselves. They are guests in a foreign land and the least they can do is show some loyalty to the people who took them in in their darkest hour. Even if it’s just guard duty if they are that adamant about not fighting in the war as eventually the war will come to them and the Empire won’t care and treat them as Rebels anyway.
Amen and I dearly wish more people would think the same IRL too... I however like to think that Ulfric didn't give the Dunmer a slum, but that the Dunmer turned the inconspicuous Snow Quarter TO a slum
