    The reason why you see me attach the light at the mid-rail is because the folded bipod prevents me from moving my hand further up to activate it.

      I do love the jacket, but the main reason that I wear it is because the guns are more visible. If I were a black jacket, people can not see the guns.

      @@tsafa Quick question please, First off I want to say I REALLY appreciate ALL your Firearm knowledge you share and I have seen MANY of your vids. I follow regularly. I received the XAgeis bi-pod and installed it TY, but my question is a bit off topic, I recently have to wear glasses (near sighted)(trouble seeing far) but I am really upset not being able to use this AWESOME scope (Primary Arms ACSS 1X8X24 SFP) It seems I have to choose to either see the reticle (use my 2.5 readers) or use script glasses and see target downrange. How do you handle this? Sounds crazy but I thought you might be able to help. TYVM

    • @tsafa
      @tsafa  2 роки тому

      @@Bill-wr9om I have a similar issue. I can only see close without glasses. I need glasses for distance but then I can not focus up close.
      What I do is put my glasses on so I can see in the distance and then adjust the focus on the back of the lens.
      This should work for you as well. Put on your glasses, look through the scope and then rotate the lens in the back for the best Focus.
      Let me know how that works out.

    • @tsafa
      @tsafa  2 роки тому

      @@Bill-wr9om
      If the method above does not work, you may have to talk to an eye doctor to write you a medium prescription. Something in the middle between will you see without glasses and where you see with glasses.
      I use an older prescription for exactly this reason sometimes. With the red dot It does not seem to be an issue. I put on glasses to see for the distance and the nice thing about the reticle is that it appears in the distance.
      If the LED red dot does not work for you you might have to go to a true holographic like an EOTech. The least one on the company that makes a true holographic that I can not remember right now. I would try to arrange to meet up with somebody at a gun range that already has one for you to try out before you buy it. Or go to a gun range that has rentals.

    Own a Ruger AR 556 MPR as well. Noticed you replaced the muzzle break with more of an A2 style device (as did I). Curious when you made that swap and what your reason was (and if you noticed any difference). I did it to reduce the sound so curious if that was also your reasoning and if you did any pre/post tests for that swap?

    • @tsafa
      @tsafa  2 роки тому +1

      I replaced the muzzle brake within a week. The noise was just ridiculous. No difference in accuracy.

    Looks like your in cold weather, question, do you use grease or oil on your rifles and handguns? Thanks!

    • @tsafa
      @tsafa  3 роки тому

      Just a little gun oil spray on the moving parts that make contact with each other or the receiver. Same thing I do in the summer.
      The amount of oil that I put does not change from Summer to Winter. I've been doing this for about 12 years like this with no problem. A lot of the guns are cold stored. So whatever the temperature outside is, is the temperature that the guns are always in.

    I have the same rifle and was shooting some X-Tac 55 grain ammo and they were all tumbling and key-holling into the target. Any insight as to why that might be?

    • @tsafa
      @tsafa  2 роки тому

      Is it only with that ammunition? What does different ammunition do?
      If it is doing it with all ammunition then it sounds like the rifling might be faulty. I would contact Ruger and have them take it back and inspect it. Try at least four different types of ammo first.

    • @tsafa
      @tsafa  2 роки тому

      If it's all ammunition it could also be that the muzzle brake is faulty and touching the bullets on the way out. I change that out to a standard Birdcage just because the muzzle brake is too loud and annoying.
      To change the muzzle brake you have to wrap the barrel so you do not scratch it and put it in a vice. You can then apply a wrench to the muzzle brake. The Birdcage goes on with a Crush Washer.
      If you don't want to deal with it, the whole rifle can go back to Ruger under warranty and they can figure it out. They will ask you what ammunition you tried and at what distance. Send a copy of the target paper with the rifle. You can not ship the ammunition.

  • @Bill-wr9om
    @Bill-wr9om 2 роки тому

    Question please, where did you get your A1 birdcage flashider? TY

    • @tsafa
      @tsafa  2 роки тому

      I think I got it from Optics Planet. It only cost about $10 from what I remember. Not expensive.
      Remove the handguard. Wrap the Barrel in cloth so it will not scratch and put it in a vice. Then you can put a wrench on the muzzle device and twist it

    How many rounds do you have through the mpr now I just bought one and doing some research. I'm seeing a lot of people having a lot of problems now those videos are a couple years old so I'm assuming ruger has fixed some of the issues. I'm just curious

    • @tsafa
      @tsafa  2 роки тому +1

      I'm up to it maybe 2500 rounds. The only issue I had was with last round bolt hold open if I were shooting anything other than military green tips or 193 X. I fixed that by putting a lighter buffer weight and lighter spring.
      The gun was designed to be light recoiling with military loads, so if you shoot regular ammo, last round may not hold the bolt open. I can not cycle Steelcase even with the lighter buffer weight. It's right on the edge, so some. MPR rifles will be able to cycle it.

      I think it is a must-have at the $620 that I bought it at as a dedicated distance shooting rifle.
      At the $900 that they want now... I would prefer to buy a gun that will also shoots steel case. Democratic gun-control has stalled in its tracks. Democrats are likely to lose seats in the midterms. I'm also hoping for a Supreme Court decision in our favor. Prices are going to fall.
