This was a great introduction/ orientation video for me as a new user when I received my 1705 last year. I was so familiar with how to operate it that when it arrived, I jumped right on and drove it like I drive my car. Thank so much.

Thank you for the GC videos. I have looked all over you tube and there just is not all that much on the awesome little machines. Thank you.

I have one. Its awesome, but for front end loader work, it is best to get a weight frame made up for the rear. Also a good thing to know, MF engine is made in Japan, the JD equivalent is made in China. The one fault for us, the indicator lights are on the outside of safety frame, they should be on the inside, they get broken off when mowing around trees.

Great video...you forgot how to activate the free floating function of the bucket or a front mounted snow blower etc., the mid mount PTO also operates the front mounted blower. I did learn a couple of things from this tutorial.

control you're talking about that raises the 3-point hitch in the back it only controls it going down not up which I wished it did because I use my box scraper quite a bit and it's really aggravating not being able to slow it down and going up you always end up raising it too high and then you got to let it down how about the same tractor last year and a few other points that you missed quoted but if they read the owners manual they'll find out what they do that's the best way to go anyhow

Thanks for the video. Bought a GC1710 in August, 2015. First tractor I've ever owned or operated. Love it !!!! It does more and bigger work than I expected. I've also found it easier to operate than I expected. You know, I never knew how to adjust the seat until I saw this video. Heh, that's funny.
I'm thoroughly impressed with the backhoe! After a little bit of a somewhat embarrassing learning period, I found it remarkably easy to operate. It can do a ton of work!. And removing/attaching the backhoe is surprisingly simple. Although, I'm not sure about how to secure the disconnected hydraulic hoses when the backhoe is removed.
I do have a couple of issues, though. First, getting the loader to go into float takes a scary amount of force on the loader joy stick. I asked my dealer about it. They said they asked MF about it and was told they put a heavier spring on it to avoid operators accidentally engaging the float. Seems like there should be a happy medium there somewhere.
Another thing is that, from the factory, there were several leaky hydraulic fittings. I had them tightened at my dealership, but I just noticed another one...
Still, I am LOVING this tractor !!!!!
Any chance you might do some videos specifically for the GC series about adjusting the 3 point hitch top and side links, stabilizers, and leveling attachments?
I will be looking forward to them.

Great video! Does the hand knob below the seal that controls the speed up/down of the three point also control the speed of the belly mower coming up and down?

Would have been nice to have the 3point lift leaver be up higher. Second wish the pto engagement wouldnt slam into using it could have made it engage better

    Nice video.
On the new 1723e does pto free spin when disengaged for a brush cutter or do you need a add on on the shaft so it doesn't stop when disengaged?

It's not "three wheel drive" with the rear differential open. It's four wheel drive with open differentials. The front differential does not lock.

If you wanted to pull a trailing field mower on the back like a Ransomes or Progressive mower, how do you raise/lower the mower decks on the hydraulics on it?

Massey Ferguson does not offer a rear remote option for the GC series tractors. For rear remotes you would need to go to the 1726 or larger tractors. Thanks

I'm getting different opinions on this & would value your input, Could using a PTO mower that stats say requires 20 HP PTO cause damage to the GC1705 since it's only rated 18.7 HP PTO ? Thx!

I have owned a GC2600 for 4 years. It has 286 hours on it and it has been used to rotary hoe maybe a total of one acre in it's time.
Two things I hate about this tractor.
Firstly, I love my little red tractor and wouldn't part with it.
However, there are two design problems with it
The first is the ability of the PTO to raise so uncontrollably fast you could flick a grown cow into the air when it is put into the raise position. It raises ridiculously fast and there is no control over the raise only the lowering.
So when you raise your implement it raises at lightning speed and ends with a BANG and the whole tractor jumps skywards.
The second and most stupid and useless, damaging piece of engineering crap is the PTO engagement.
    I have a 4 foot slasher, no I HAD a 4 foot slasher.
The PTO on this tractor engages like an explosion BAAAAAANG!
There is no clutch or anything between engaged and disengaged.
It is like sitting in a truck and smashing the gear into first without using the clutch.
I complained years ago but nothing was ever done.
Useless brain dead idiots at MF.
Didn't they test the PTO when they built it?
My slasher had 80 hours on it and blew the gearbox and I put a second one on it and and it did about 200 hours on it mowing grass like on a football field, then today BANG.......no more gear box again.
I love that tractor, but I hate the people who designed that PTO system and released it on the public.
Those fucking useless bastards need to be tarred and feathered.
The dealer told me the GC2600 was the new "old grey fergy"........................I'd like to give him grey fergy......

Why don’t you show how to put the tractor into either hair drive or rabbit drive. No instruction on how to put the vehicle in gear that’s sad

    • @Redneck_Ed

I can not tell if you're joking or being serious, but it's pretty simple. Just slide the level to the desired position. The only caveat is that obviously you can not be in motion when doing so. Works this easy whether the tractor is running or not.
