Wanchope had an unsettling effect on Premiership defenders who never quite knew what to expect. He had remarkable ball control, even when he looked as if he had no control over it at all... greatest "9"
I remember all the top sides being judged on their title winning aspirations on the basis of whether they could pass the 'wanchope test'. It wasn't just the Gooners that succumbed to him, Man U too.
Sturridge was rapid around this time, super quick. Wanchope was just so fun to watch. And then we had Baino, Eranio and Stimac as well 😁😁😁. Great team on its day and ripped a lot of top teams apart. Pity it got slowly broken up after this season.
I know Seaman was beaten from miles out by Ronaldinho's fluke free-kick in WC2002 but I'm still surprised he failed to safe Wanchope's shot for the first goal, he was a good player Wanchope but that wasn't a powerful shot at all and Seaman was 1of the best GK's around back then, should've easily saved it. Not as bad a mistake as 1:55 from Winterburn though, classic case of most left-footers being so 1-footed they can't even quickly clear the ball away from the danger zone. Always making the wrong decisions whether in attack, defence or in the middle because they have no confidence with their other foot and here he knew he was risking a goal by taking extra touches but that's how awkward he felt about using his right foot that he preferred trying something a lot harder and dangerous just to avoid doing something which was easy and had no risk.
@@indiekiddrugpatrol3117 I'm Arsenal fan for 23 years. I would love to see Derby County in the Premiership again but it looks like they're in deep financial trouble.
For a couple of years back then, Sturridge had Adams and Bould in his pocket. They simply couldn't deal with him. Then again i said the same about Dean Saunders a few years before.
I'm sure like many watching these vids, support our current team and we push on together however the players of this team of sturridge, wanchope and carsley etc bring a good nostalgia
Big team the Derby county in the 90 blessing from costarica

OMG, Dean Sturridge was a legend, I don't think DCFC will ever hav a striker quite like him!
Liked Sturridge, was a quality striker in his short stint at Wolves; great channel!
