Great playing! Just got one love it!
Trem or hard tail?
Great job D
I love the necks on these Charvels.....the easiest smoothest I played...and I a lot of guitars
The pick ups are so clear without and extraneous noise.
And the body is super comfortable
I also have the Dk 24 in pink and it with hss configuration...again just a killer axe...quality without dropping a bunch of money
Just ordered myself one of these, Arriving tomorrow! Can't waaaaaaait
You are indeed a wise man!! You won't be disappointed dude.
Same here :) arriving in two days
@@for-the-win Can confirm that I was not disappointed, Make sure to get yourself one or two 9v batteries- Also when you're not using it, turn the battery around and save its charge!
Hope you're enjoying it (y)
@@patch1753 cheers! I‘m totally in love and also have a stack of 5 9V batteries here. Thanks for the suggestion and rock on! 🤟
Tried a Shecter Tele....turns out had cracked neck. Took back to the store and traded up to the Charvel.....wow.
Идеальный звук, прекрасная игра.
Её хочется купить)
Best demo so far. Thank you for allowing to hear the guitar not through terrible high gain or crappy clean tones...make it easier to decide if I want one
Cody Burgess hi Cody. Thanks man.....I look at a lot of demo stuff and the tone is awe full 😝
@@damonthegnomeoftonechivers Killer demo, I demoed this guitar a couple of weeks ago and really impressed with it! :)
Hi Man....Hope you are well. Loved yours dude.
@@damonthegnomeoftonechivers Thanks Damon, Charvel are what I love. I don't think I could use anything else.
I am torn. I want this and the Red Ash. I can only get one!
Depends what you need dude! The red ash is much more “Stratty “ these will go from traditional tele tones up to very modern Humbucker tones. Try the both mate 😁🎸
Have any of you guys gotten the high E hung up on the top plate of the Fluence neck pickup? It's happened to me thrice on gigs. I'm set up with 9.5's and I'm not a hard right hand picker. I love this guitar but I need a fix for that.
This guitar should really have a locking tremolo or be a hard tail. A lot of great sounds from it! Fantastic playing.
Thanks mate. I’m surprised a locking trem version hasn’t appeared yet? Maybe In 2024?
3:20 Your face. lol You know that bad boy is screaming!!
Mr. Stone totally! Always good to get to the point that you have to pull a silly face! I love it when that happpens!😆👍
Great Video.... If you had to choose and only have one, which would you pick (Ash or Black one)?
I love the natural ash.
Have the alder body hard-tail, great guitar
hallo bro, the guitar is great for metal guitarist? the profile fretboard is great for that?
BAGUS SW nice fretboard a bit of a d profile quite flat, but plays fast
thehoppo I play metal, but for the fretboard mostly use the ebony. And I play so down tuning like G#. How about you?
Downtuning is really easy as its a stoptail...very stable.
Guitar sounds cool. I've just purchased an Ibanez AZ2402 and its a game changer for me. I was initially looking at Charvel, mainly the new DK24 models, but i hear that there are some issues with them - mainly tuning and off Frets or high frets. What are your thoughts regarding this? I will sub if i get a reply..lol :P
Hi Phil. I have have to say I have not had any problems with those issues. But I guess you have , so. I guess that’s why you went for the Ibanez😁
@@damonthegnomeoftonechivers No i haven't had any problems cuz i've never owned one..lol Thats why was asking you :D But even tho i love my Ibanez i still mite get one of these out of curiosity :)
How well does the Gotoh 510 hold tune? It's the only thing on this I'm hesitant about. I wouldn't be doing anything crazy like with a Floyd, but I don't want tuning going out of whack really easily. The single coil tones sound surprisingly great, enough that I could probably replace my Strat with this and have a much more versatile guitar.
Derek D hi Derek. With locking tuners, and without any Hendrix, Van Halen or Vai like whammy abuse, it stayed in tune really well dude.
I have a custom American Strat too. This guitar wont replace that. A Strat is a Strat. Both playing style and sound. The Charvel will pick up where my Strat leaves off..ie: heavy humbucker drive tones....
@@rickhunter-wolff You have the best surname in history!!!
I have a black trem one, a little mixed feelings so far. Body is chambered, 7 chambers under the pickguard, mine has bad neck joint pocket (again like 2019 pro mod dk 24 grey strat), even wider gaps this time, on both sides, easy to spot, light just shines through the gaps. Bridge pickup lack body and bark in high gain setting, plenty of high mids to cut through but no mass. Neck pickup i dig a lot. Would not recommend it to high gain use, definitely not a modern metal sound, great for other styles, blues, rock. Neck is awesome, frets all good, tuners and tuning stability are good as well, this gotoh trem is top stuff. I am dropping Fishman Modern set in hope to get bridge pickup bark and roar instead of high fq sizzle. But again, i am in a high gain situation.
I count 8 chambers. :) Including the sort of S-shaped one between the pickups. I'm happy so far, I don't see any gaps at the neck join on mine although I feel the fret edges slightly. There's not much acoustic volume, I think I have a fairly dense selection of ash pieces as mine weighs in at 3.3kg even with the weight relief, it's a good weight though.
I believe the idea was to weight relieve the ash if it was deemed to be too heavy?
@@damonthegnomeoftonechivers facebook.com/search/top/?q=Charvel%20mario%20bozio&epa=SEARCH_BOX maybe, i understand when they chamber full thickness mahogany les pauls, but this model, it would not made a big difference anyway, it it really light weight, i got a message i guess it was from charvel group administrator who said after talking to charvel rep, they said they saw it was not a good idea, and stopped doing it, mine was one of the first prod items. i do believe it. i have filled the chambers with epoxy, and hardly believe myself, yes it weights a ton now but man, it is totally different axe now, its a beast with incredible sustain, focus and attack, all qualities needed for a would be metal, rock machine as it is advertised. crazy stuff, i dont believe even non chambered version can have a chance against mine epoxy mod)
Hi Damon, thank you for your fantastic reviews. I am in doubt between this HH and the HSH dinky (you tested both and both are very good and very versatile). Unfortunately I cannot test them (together) and make my choice (here in Italy is even quite hard find this brand in a shop ...). What do you think about? May you give me yor advice? In my mind HSH is more versatile ... but after hearing the test also HH seems to cover a huge range of sounds from metal to funk ... Thank you in cas of suggestions!
There’s not a huge difference. There is a coil tap on the hh, so you can get single coil tones. Plus the Fluence pickups allow you to choose between vintage and modern Humbucker tones. So maybe you need to decide on whether you need true single coil tones? Amd how they look of course!
Thank you so much Damon! Actually I am looking for a powerful HB @ bridge (well defined with high/very high gain, not muddy) + intermediate/neck positions good for funk/clean sound... all in one guitar ... but these Charvels seem to match! Both HSH a HH tele are extremely beautiful (and with same neck etc.) so the choice based purely on sound is very hard! Thank you Paolo
@@paoloscaglioni9406 you really need to find both and try them mate before you make a decision .
@@damonthegnomeoftonechivers I hope so! If not I'll toss a coin up 😀 and all in all I'll have a good guitar, anyway. Thank you again!!!
Great video and you’ve sold me on the guitar :))) What pedals were you using? I use a fender hot rod with boss overdrives, eq pedal and reverb. You had a beautiful clean and crunch sound happening.
Hi dude! That was all shot through the EVH Lunchbox 2, into a 1X12" cab with a Jenson speaker, close mic'd with an SM57. The Reverb is a Line 6 Helix Stomp in the effects loop. Keeley Compressor, Wamapler Euphoria and JHS Modded Soul Food for drive!! Cheers.
Damon Chivers thanks so much for the reply and information. I’ll take my chances and try it through the hot rod and see what happens with the boss pedals. The guitar rep at the store said they’re versatile enough guitars to sound awesome.
Im curious about this guitar, im looking for some 6 string with modern specs. just wondering if they could handle djenty tones
Daf Lepail I think with the Fluence pickups you can get very much into djemty territory!
Damon Chivers that is all I wanted to hear! thanks man! the only thing left in this guitar are stainless steel frets , but Im still gettin one
a bit late but can I ask if the neck on you dk24 is the same as the so cal style 2
Very similar yes. The San Dimas necks are a little deeper, like a thick C. But these are pretty skinny.
I’ve heard that the strings are a little high. Did that bother you? Im looking for a versatile and good quality guitar to be my first! 😊
Hi Lucy. Any guitar can really be set up to play how you want in terms of the action. If someone has a guitar with a high action take it to a repairman and get them to set it up how you would like. These are. Some of the easiest and best playing guitars I’ve tried in ages , and generally Charvels have some of the best and easiest playing necks available. Go to a goos guitar store, as many wil set the guitar up for you when you buy it. Thanks for watching.🎸👍
Great video!! Are you running into the 5150 LBX II?
Indeed I am sir!
Hi, how long does your battery last? I have the same and the battery wears out very quickly
It all depends on how long you leave it plugged in of course, but I make sure to always unplug it and I have a couple of rechargeable 9v batteries. One in the guitar and one on charge, and always a spare for gigging.
hallo bro, the guitar is great for metal guitarist? the profile fretboard is great for that?
Hi there. It's not super flat and wide, but compound radius and plays great, so just about any style works on it.
Had an Indonesia PRS custom. Awesome neck, terrible stability. This neck a cross between a Strat and that flat rad neck on the PRS
try using a microphone for your voice...you sound like your in a public toliet stall....mr tech....by the way...i bought the woodgrain version...I always wanted a reverse headstock in my small collection of weapons... two hagstroms..super viking...and viking limited...92 strat...76 les paul..2005 Jagstang...squire baritone..why dont you review the reverened 12 string...been looking for a good 12 string electric...im tempted to get one
I guess I'm old school, I've yet to hear active pickups I like. I had a EC400 LTD - EMG's, didn't like it. These sound better to me than EMG's but not the tone I like.
I,m a passive guy as well.......thee are pretty good though...versatlity is handy
@@damonthegnomeoftonechivers It's just the tone, passives sound more organic to me.
Old comment but a guy at Fishman really worded it perfect.
[In my words]
Do active pickups use batteries? Yes. Do our pickups use batteries, well yes. But that doesn't mean our pickups are active. Our pickups and their ability to offer different voicing options, requires to be battery powered. But out battery powered pickups may be designed to sound passive or active. Construction wise emg and passive pickups are probably designed more similarly (wound wire) than emg and Fishman pickups (they don't use winding wire).
And frankly that makes alot of sense imo. Alot of times they get spoken of like just an alternate for ppl into EMGs, when really that's short-changing their potential. I suppose you can get into semantics with wording but I think when most people say active they are speaking of a hot/hi gain inclination or idealizing emg tones and that ballpark. In this case the only "active" aspect is the presence of a 9v.
@@jumpsteady1777 Interesting. There are a lot of passive pups I don't like also, so it's a case by case thing I suppose.
Great video great axe Need a mic thou
Working on it!
Microphone. 👍

Shame that they sound nothing like a Tele. Pretty enough though for those who like Tele-shaped guitars.
The solution is simple, buy a telecaster :)
Music is too loud, cant the hear the guitar
