- You will find out: Salzburg is THE “Sound of Music” city! Roam in the footsteps of Maria von Trapp and Julie Andrews and find out which film locations were used for the movie in 1964.
What sounds like a modern fairy tale is actually a true story: that of the young budding novice Maria Kutschera. She moves in with the Trapps as the children’s governess and shortly afterwards marries the widower father of the family.

I love very much the sound of music. I watch it when I was 9 yea s old now I am 69. I still love to watch the sound of music. My niece has a copy .
Thank you for bringing back many lovely memories. I watched "The Sound of Music" in 1965 in Singapore when I was 13 years old. Throughout my years in the US, I watched "The Sound of Music" many times and was very touched by the songs.

I just visited there. Very lovely city. I city I could live in. So much to offer with all of the mountains, lakes, and streams. Very nice people live there as well. One of the highlights of my trip.

I was there in the actual locations of The Sound of Music..the place is nice and I think nearby is a very old convent , there were also horses with carriages as far as I remembered ,beautiful !!! I went on Palace Tour where I think I learned World History ..Thanks to the tour guide ,explaining almost everything !!! Lots of coffee shops and souvenir shops around !!! We crossed the border by bus to Switzerland , Germany and Italy ...Enjoyed a lot ,,,,❤🤞

The hills and open scene is in werfen not near to the untersberg
The opening scene was actually filmed in Mehlweg Bavaria, not Werfen, the Do-Re-Mi scene was filmed there.
