I didn't sign up with Crazy Moose Fabrics but I like the idea of randomly working on WIP's, so I wrote down all kits I have and will be randomly choosing them throughout the year. I'm excited to see your completed Mexican Stars wall hanging! It's a stunning pattern.
@@catherinekealy5842 The Quilted Forest You Tube channel is also doing a UFO Challenge. She picks a number each month and you work on that one. She posted a video today of her 12 projects and picked number 4 for the January project. You don't sign up or anything. You just number your UFO's and work on the number she picks for that month. I was going to do that one until I got the email from Crazy Moose Fabrics and they are a small quilt shop in my state so I figured I'd do that one instead. Whatever you do, have fun!
Such a great idea and quite the challenge to start out with. The project looks so cool and I love the colours. I am excited to see how this works out for you!
I've made Mexican Stars twice, as well as other Southwind patterns. The piecing is simple though "odd"-- you incorporate folded triangles into the seams. When the top is complete, the bias folds are turned back to form curves. This is the part where most people get bogged down. It's not hard; just tedious. It's a new experience, and you'll love the finished quilt.
Its a really nice pattern and the batiks are lovely colours! I'm looking forward to watching it come together.
@@threadmybobbin Thanks! I'll be really relieved once I've cut it out and can proceed from there.

@@fredmakesthings I found a You Tube video showing her fabric folding technique so I'm a bit less scared. LOL.
