@Mr. Acorn my brother i was exactly like you, i used to always make dua and ask for things but never be grateful for the things i have. once i started doing honest zikr from heart and thinking about everything i have been blessed with, then sincere tobah came in and i made sincere tobah because i am one of the worst sinners. then you make dua, you need to make it into a conversation with a allah and ask for things with sincere conviction that it will be granted
and after this, alhamdulillah everything i had been asking for was happening before my eyes, we can’t ask our parents or friends for favours when they are not happy with us so it’s kind of similar you know?

I loved music since I was 4 years old, I learned to play several instruments, my entire identity was based around music, it even mixed with my spiritual beleifs, I produced music learned alot, when I came to Islam I have never touched my equipment since never looked back Alhamdullilah
Well, really admire you, i am muslim and play in a band , (drums), we released our first album a year ago.
I am not into the party scene, as soon as we finish a gig i pack up my drums and leave.
But i know what i am doing is haram, i have found it hard to stop my music but reading your words i need to think of my priorities and need to find the courage to stop.

My brother if music is your passion or makes you happy then keep doing it, as long as the music isn't mixed with dirty words or deceiving meanings or things that are justified as haram. You can take Maher Zain for instance, it's still music you know

The thing is leaving music is not much of a big deal but did he really walked away from all of his money earned from it? Now that's the big deal. With seven figure he might not need to work and if he continues use his earned money and invest that in others then the Haram continues as usual. If this is the case then I don't think it's not much of a big deal to talk about.
Also these UA-camrs ( Muslim) making things viral whenever some celebrities does anything. For a example breaking fast while playing football bla bla etc.,. I mean come on we have people in the corner where they work for 10 hours of hard labour jobs, getting attacked for absolutely no reason etc..,.and still fasts. No one seems to talking about them and I think they are the real ones to talk of noteworthy.
Saying there is a difference of opinion is not some kind of sell-out. There is clearly evidence for difference of opinion among scholars on this issue and you can't just dismiss the opinion of a giant like Al Ghazali for example because it doesn't match your own understanding. Al Ghazali however I believe only considered it permissable under certain conditions.

If this happens you should do what this hadith says:
"I took an oath by Lat and 'Uzza. The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said : 'Say: "La ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lahu" (None has the right to be worshipped but Allah alone, with no partner or associate)," then spit toward your left three times, and seek refuge with Allah, and do not do that again."' [Ibn Majah 2097, sahih darussalam]
