The sound system was so good I was rendered deaf for a few minutes. It’s OK to be jealous that we are their favorite neighbors. I never want to go to a regular movie theater ever again.

I'm sure you're just saying this to be silly, so I apologize if my tone of my question if it seems snarky. But I was under the impression that going deaf from a sound system reflects poorly on reference levels and poor use of the technology resulting in loss/ripping of the sound waves... Right?

It’s nice to see a 1961 theatre featured, I have a 5.1 1961 system in my basement. It should be 5.2 by the end of the year. My fronts are the Monitors. You’ve given me some nice ideas for my basement, it looks awesome.

Arendal male a very good speaker and there suns punch way above their weight class. At first I was confused by the choice of white but it looks really sharp in your room and the fact that it is flat instead of gloss is a huge benefit. I think more people would go with white if it was easier to get in a flat white finish, this is the first I have heard of it.
    Looks awesome Mikal

Wow. Very very nice. Simple and clean! Currently working with limited space , with a 5.1.2 (2subs; Klipsch R12SW) , with the Klipsch Reference Line ; R28F towers/SPEAKERS , with a recent upgrade to my receiver FROM the Denon, to the (Marantz SR8015) with T8 cooling fan, AND Panamax M5300 Max surge protector. The sound is night and day and sounds amazing from new receiver!! My set up is calibrated to 80DB with the subs at 82+/- DB each for a total of 86DB +/- 1DB for that extra thump for a total of 95-105db total output dependent on volume level.
Now, back to this very clean set up; I would love to know what the speakers and subs are calibrated too, and total output when playing at reference level.
Also curious why you're not running a separate Amp either for your front stage (left, center , right) and or for all speakers with a monolith 11x or similar ; just not interested? No space? Wouldn't mind your thoughts on that as well.
Thanks for the vid. Beautiful set up

Hi I’ve got an unusual question that I’m sure you can help me with, it would be awesome if you did a video on UA-cam about this subject as there’s not much info on it.
    On to the question.
I’m a retired portable DJ and I’ve got quite a few powered speakers 2x Mackie thump 15a’s, 6x Mackie thump 12a’s and 2x Mackie 18” powered subs. These are very powerful at 1300w each but seeing as they are powered I’m wondering if I can connect them via the RCA outputs of a receiver to power a home theatre build I’m planing.
I was thinking the 2x 15’s for my fronts LnR 2x 12’s for my centre and 4x 12’s for side/rear surrounds, obviously to 2x subs up front as well.
Any help in this situation would be awesome and appreciated.

Very nice room but the seating is not optimal. The surround speakers are right in your face. I would move the seats to 2/3 of the room for more space. You could also place the speakers higer on the wall angled down for a more spacious sound.(and not right in your face)

Understand what you’re saying and initially I had same concern. However the theater is calibrated to the two middle seats. Outside seating is used rarely but even then sounds great with off access waveguide tweeters. I positioned speakers to recommended Dolby Atmos specs. When the lights are off you don’t really notice how close the sides and rears are to your head. Not optimal because of room size but still sounds amazing.

I live in Australia and paid USD 389 to ship a pair of the Arendal 1723 THX Towers. Given the size and weight of these speakers (and the speed of the shipping) I thought that this was a great deal. I also paid about AUD 450 in import taxes. In the end this was still way cheaper in total than anything of comparable quality that I could purchase locally.
