I almost come to write the same thing...and I saw your comment, and I said: uuuh already said. So I totally agree with you. She knew how to answer about Taylor Swift, without being hurtful to her, and at the same time, making us understand..."I don't really mind about meeting her" She is very smart.
I'm the opposite. I loved Grace on AGT but this interview annoyed me. I agree that the questions were idiotic but the fact that she chose to say something like Taylor's card and kind wishes were "just the usual stuff" - that's just wrong. That's a spoiled child attitude. Taylor is an epitome of talent, hard work and success despite all odds, so even if Grace doesn't like her music she should understand that such comparison is meant as a major compliment. And Taylor certainly doesn't owe her anything. Grace has a long way to go in her career if she wants to succeed. Taylor understands this better than many. She chose to encourage Grace by such a nice personal gesture. Any decent person would have used this opportunity on camera to at least say thank you.

This idiot kept asking the same damn question, wtf, I like Taylor, but as your own words said, Taylor doesn't owe Grace any thing, also by the same standard, Grace doesn't owe Taylor anything, she's just a kid being asked the same damn questions about Taylor only because Simon compared her to taylor. This was a crap interview. Grace clearly doesn't like being compared to Taylor and she is just a celebrity in the world. Would Grace like to meet her? Sure she would, but she would love to meet her actual idols way more. I'm sorry but Grace just looks uncomfortable through the entire interview. It's as if she's forcing herself to say things and it doesn't seem like her.

grace is actually a fan of Taylor's, she has a poster of her in her room. I don't think she finds it uncomfortable to be compared to Taylor but she is probably just tired of everyone saying the same things in interviews. It's clearly visible that Grace doesn't like being compared to Taylor Swift. Answering questions about her make Grace uncomfortable as she probably doesn't really like her. It's impressive how diplomatically she answers these questions though.
In a way Grace's family should sue Simon for saying that at her audition since now whats has been happening to her.
You can't sue someone for making a comparison. What is it with people in this country who think they should sue everyone over the dumbest things. It would be laughed out of court if a lawyer even took it...which they wouldn't.
When Simon compared Grace to Taylor Swift, it was because Grace is original at 12, just as Taylor Swift was at 12. Remember people, Taylor Swift was a songwriter before she was a singer.

She does seem slightly uncomfortable about the continueing comparison. Grace is unique not like any other artiste. In the UK we have an incredible young composer, violinist and pianist called Alma Deutscher (age 12) who keeps being called a little Mozart, her reply to that is she prefers to be a little Alma. The same applies to Grace, she is Grace Vanderwaal, others will probably copy her.

I could feel the awkwardness of this interview. She was so nice about it but slightly dodged the questions. She doesn't seem to like Taylor that much. She's Grace, not Taylor and she shouldn't be compared to anyone else.
It's not that she doesn't like Taylor, or any of the other singers; she's just starting her career and trying to form her own artistic identity. She does not want to be derivative - to be a copy of someone else and being compared to someone is very limiting. Taylor's had her chance to develop her own career. I'm sure Grace would want that chance to forge her own path as well. She is Grace, not a younger Taylor.

That interviewer was so stupid. First of all, someone compared her to Taylor, she never said Taylor was her idol, or she admired her. Ask the dude that compared them why HE compared them. how about asking HER who she admires? I think Grace handled it well, though.
You could see the wheels turning in her head as she tried to tactfully navigate through that. I suspect she respects Swift but isn't that big of a fan. And yes....it's a disservice to start comparing her to everybody.

Right after her first performance on AGT, when Nick Cannon put that question to her about Simon Cowell predicting she would be the next Taylor Swift and how did that make her feel, she giggled and quite effortlessly just completely avoided answering the question without looking like she had. I thought, Wow. 12 years old and she's got 10 times more social skill and grace then I have EVER had!! This young lady really is something special!!!

About all the people saying she doesn't seem to like Taylor very much. I really don't think its like that. I saw the video where she was flipping about getting the flowers and she seems to like her. however I don't think she likes being compared to her all the time like this. these questions were all just about taylor and people always comment on that when grace is grace Taylor is Taylor. grace is a young girl who won a show, a current rising star and Taylor is a superstar. I think she feels like with everyone talking about just Taylor and not Grace like they're supposed to be when asking GRACE questions, she feels annoyed because its a constant thing that won't stop. Shes pretty much being told to live up to a certain expectation and she is always being compared to it when she's not Taylor. she's her own person.

This interview is so strained. You see her actually draining of happiness when the interview keeps comparing her to Taylor. She doesn't want that label and it's really sad that she's having to put on a face and grin and bare it to be polite. I really felt for her in this interview. I wished that she lied and pretended to like Taylor so she could use Taylor to get her career going because Simon certainly did nothing for her. Taylor would have loved the attention from this new Prodigy and invited her to join her on a few occasions thus Grace getting big attention from Taylor followers. In the end all she got from Taylor fans were mocking jokes and saying she liked Katie instead of Taylor got her nothing.

I mean she's a kid and overwhelming her with this type of thing is downright rude. grace is so amazing and wonderful and shines perfectly in her own way, just as Taylor has. I'm amazed that people think these Hollywood/celebrity interviewers/hangers on/sycophants are necessarily very intelligent people. Don't even count most of the celebrities/singers themselves (Grace being a possible exception-but I don't know her well enough to make that assessment). They think that because they have a microphone/camera lens- they are also more intelligent than the regular folks. We know they THINK their words (such as political views) mean more than other people's words, but that is not the case.

Taylor Swift is up there with Kelly Clarkson in my book when it comes to talent. As far as songwriters go I think Jewel, the Dixie Chicks, and maybe a few other authentic female artists might be slightly superior in ranking comparably. I have no idea where Grace will place herself among these women, but so far she's off to a pretty impressive start. I love the way she responded to "Access Hollywood" without denying them the way I hope she will one day.
