AS a professional musician, I have never seen a Sousa march with less than three cornet (often played by trumpets) parts, and some have separate trumpet parts as well. Usually 6 cornets (2 on each part) would be normal in a band this size. Excellent technically but not a true musical representation of what Sousa intended.
