Used Mark fit for years and always have had great results but the strong and stronger have eaten thru some of the aftermarket automotive and motorcycle decals I have used. Mark fit us still my go to but I test now before I go all in. Thank you for sharing, great review. Everyone keep yourselves and love ones safe and healthy and remember to SMILE 😊God Bless 🙏
@@teddyjones8027 I was at least smart enough (or... well, lucky enough) that the area was the back of the turret, so repurposing it into "damage" was easy lol
That's my question: is it equally compatible with underlying acrylics and lacquers/oil based. Your comment indicates that it should not be used on underlying acrylics coats(?). @@TheBattleRabbit860
@@HOWARD-kw6jm I definitely won'tt be using that one on acrylics unless I have an enamel or lacquer topcoat. The jar on my Mark Fit Strong has a warning about using it acrylics, so I would imagine it would be even more so with this one.
Mark Fit Strong and Super Strong will melt most acrylic paints without some kind of enamel or lacquer varnish. I used the Mark Fit strong on top of acrylic paint (Vallejo) and it went right through that and the varnish (I think it was AK Intermediate Gauzy Agent/Shine Enhancer). So, anyone who uses acrylics, beware of that!
Short and sweet. Thanks for tip on the decal setting solution. Maybe scale hobbist or spru bothers might have it. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year everyone.
I bought it when it first came on the market and used it on some Tamiya decals...tried the other two Decal Fit first with not much success...then put some of the new one and...job done..top product
Very impressive results. I don't need a decal solution just yet, though I have thought about it some. I should rewatch the big comparison video again, I'm not sure I'll need something as potent as the super strong
I found you for the airbrushing tips and learning as I have my own fishing lure business but at this rate your gonna have me building models again soon lol Was into it a bit when I was younger lol
Awesome video loved how the solution works. I’ve been using the micro mark 2 step proses and seeing how the Tamiya brand works, I’m definitely going to switch to it. I also just received my Barbatos Rex Swallow Tail airbrush kit with the fan cap and stand, can’t wait to try it out, will post photos after I check it out. Amazing quality and design so far , can’t wait to see how it puts the paint down.
I have that super strong for a while now, I use it, but warning is due. Do not use it on water based and alcohol based varnishes if you are not 100% sure they are fully cured (and even then you need to be careful not to apply it too generously as in video). I did that and it started eating varnish and left white marks, like silvering, but 3x worse. Had to sand a bit with 1500 grit, then spray another thin layer of varnish jo make it go away. After I screwed up few times I found a formula: thin layer below decal, cotton swab across decal to press it in place, and thin layer on top, wipe excess from around decal. When done that way, it works fantastic!
i posted the same yesterday, but the post was removed?? but its good to know for those of us who's BM shop cant/wont carry the items that we may need..
I hate decals but use them, they make a big difference. I think I will try it, looked on Amazon not there so EBay it is. Have you thought about putting out an online store so we don’t have to jump all over? Thank you, can’t wait for the next test. Woo Hoo
Angra is one of my favorite bands ever, and temple of shadows is their best work. I was not expecting to see that album in the background. How does this stuff compare to Mr hobby? Great video!
I use Vinegar essence (basically very strong vinegar) 250 ml costs 2 euros and you can water it down to weaken it. It works great and costs peanuts. We have it in local supermarkets here in Austria .Cheers Andrew
Markfit Strong is my go-to but I would urge some caution with this stuff. One kit I used it on recently was nearly a disaster when I applied it directly to the surface and put the decal on top of it. It instantly bonded and was not removable or even movable. It went straight from wet, right off the backing paper to sealed to the surface with no time for me to adjust it so it was wrinkled and crooked. I had to scraped it off. Luckily I did that on a decal that was not going to be a huge loss. So, like I said, be prepared and test this stuff on a decal you won't miss.
Have you tried to press very hard decals with a moist folded towel on irrugular surfaces ? It works well for me and then I use decal softener if needed
The tweezer link you provided takes you to a totally different looking Tamiya tweezer labeled as a decal tweezer, however when I searched Tamiya tweezers for modeling, and scrolled down a bit, the exact ones you showed in the video are a little ways down the page
i've tried the strong and super strong but with both it did leave a mark on the paint (tamiya). Even after drying the paint etc for 48 hours, applied clear X22 and/or varnish. So i went back to the micro sol/set combo which works the best for me.
I use Micro set stuff but having to use only 1 item compared to 2 is much better and cheaper. I don't do much from Military models but Gundam other robot and anime stuff with certain vehicles that tickle my fancy.
As always another great video tha k you very much for ur videos sa huge help...i have a question about spray booths my window seems to have air blowing in so would a stronger blower like fan work?
I see this product is "For advanced users." If I purchase it but am only a beginner or intermediate user, will I be followed? Will someone from the Tamiya Zaibatsu come to my home and demand proof of skill before I may use the product?
Looks like good stuff! I must admit, though, that I'm not really seeing the usefulness of a clear primer. I know that a primer is to help prepare the plastic surface for painting, but it's also to help even out the base coat by 'hiding' sanding putty and the like. Helps reveal any spots that need more work, also. I guess I don't see how a clear primer can do that. 😕
Sweet thank you for replying its a duel fan from Walmart says 200cfm but blow back from outside so a bigger or more powerful blower inline duct fan might help..or last option id buy a booth but scared ill have same problem
Word to the wise: always test that Super Strong decal solvent first as it can easily silver up (or even completely deteriorate) many brands of decals.

Yeah, it eats through some decals, and especially if you use more than is needed. It also goes right through acrylics.
@TheBattleRabbit860 I use it pretty sparingly but thankfully I haven't had it eat through paint

I couldn’t believe how crude and primitive that B-24 wing looked. Modeling really has come a long way. Thanks for this video, Robert.
I only use the regular strength. Stronger decal solvents tend to mush up decals for me and leave little working time.
Thanks for all you do for us

Love the MR.Hobby Mark set kit, clean and just strong enough for my use.
Super happy with the Tamiya decal products, looking forward to getting this when it becomes available at my local hobby store 😀
Walthers "Solvaset is good to use for thick decals, it can also be used for thinner decals by watering it down too.

I recently started hand painting some of my gunpla with pro acryl, so it will be interesting to see what the varnish is like.
Another great presentation, THANKS.
Great tip looks like an awesome product. I may have to try it. Thanks for the info.
I havent used decals in a long time because of this issue ,but now this might put me on the path to trying .

Nice, I’ve only ever used the original Mark fit and I thought it did a great job! I’ll have to get the super strong and try it.
Mark Fit and Mark Set are some best stuff stuff you can use with water slide decales.
Thank you , I will be using many decals ... Learn something New everyday

Saw the decal sheet in the thumbnail. Man, I love the WW2 US roundel with the red trim
Hey have you ever tried it over aqua gloss? I used some mark fit strong once and it reacted bad. Maybe I just had a bad layer.
Thanks, Robert.
Really awesome! Thanks!
I’m gonna have to check this one out! I’ve tried the Mr Hobby stuff but never them.

I use Mark fit basic, works great
Have you used Mr Setter? Do you like the mark fit better?
Doesn't Tamiya always make good stuff? Not cheap, but worth it in my opinion.
Still pretty cheap compared to typical gaming rebrand stuff
I don’t know if I’d call stuff that will eat decals and then some paint brands good.

Yes a stronger fan will work
Can you do Mr. Hobby decal solutions next?
I did a video on it already. It was a big shoot out test with every one on the market I could find.
I have three different solutions. May have to add that Mark Fit to bench now lol
I need to get me one of those eraser sticks! I had no idea those existed!
Try a silicon brush, hobby lobby sells them. If you can't find the decal stick or pricing is prohibitive
I've been using micro solve / set. Might have to change after this!
By any chance do you know where I can buy decals of eyes for different scale figures they are really hard to find. Thank you

I've been trying to get that super strong decal solution here in Michigan and it seems it's an overseas thing. $$$
Well, Tamiya is a Japanese company, so they are overseas for most hobbyist.
I was saying that you can get the normal and strong here in the states but not the super strong. Something to do with the ingredients.
I wonder if this works with Holo decals

Angra, that's a band I haven't heard in a long time
Walthers Solvaset my favorite
You need super strong decal softer with how absurdly thick Tamiya decals are
For advanced users 😬 How do you know you are advanced enough? Serious suggestion... A video comparing Mark Fit vs Mr. Hobby 2 part.
I use ultimate modeling products decal solution like it way better. Certain decals takes longer for thicker ones like new demon kit ones
been to afraid to do water slide even though they look better than regular stickers
Holy smoke! You are going to run out of space.
Do you think the waterslide decals in the Tamiya will hold up to play on Star Wars and GI Joe vehicles for my grandchildren?
If you put a clear top coat on top you'll be OK
Here I thought it was going to be for removing the decals.
Never used any of them!... but it's nice to see you tests as usual!
How is this better than the less expensive Microsol and Microset?
Do you put dawn/dish soap in your water that you soak your decals in
I don't
First, awe, yeah
