Hilda baker was one of the best comedic actresses of all time, my ma and aunties loved her. I didnt get most of the jokes at the time, early 70s but rip to ms baker.
I enjoyed the steptoe and son episode where they were trying to contact Harolds mother . Hilarious . Only the british can do comedies like this and more..
Hylda Baker is the ONLY female comedian( comedienne) who ever made me laugh! She was unique in that respect.I have all her TV shows on DVD,the Jimmy Jewel question.....i never knew he was bitter or jealous of Hylda,i always thought of him as Hylda's straight man.Whatever the behind the scenes quabbles nothing takes away Hyldas comedic genius! She was and still is! Hilarious!😊😊😅😅
LOL - Lily's had a lot of experience communicating with the dead married to Walter! LOL Hear that woman laying eggs in the Audience? She was a regular in the audience. Laughter instantly recognised.
yes i agree.......i once saw an interview in which he verbally stabbed everyone in the back, came across as a bitter, mean spirited man. I also read an article which revealed how furious he was that Hylda Baker was far more popular in this series than he could ever hope to be. In fact "Waletr and Lily" were way ahead of him in the popularity stakes.
Jimmy jewel was overbearing and was one of those comedian's that always had to look around at people's reaction as if he was looking to see if people thought he was funny he tried too hard it didn't come naturally

'lily: if you hear me, knock twice' .....and ask for Nellie!' so funny
This was bloody funny.....but is completely forgotten for some reason.
I don't think it fits with modern day people running the media. I'm surprised Coronation Street is still going.
