100% helpful. I got rear ended few days ago. And just going to pull off the bumper to see the damage underneath for my own curiosity before insurance takes care of it all.
Awesome tutorial, however I was wondering why the service manual says to remove the tail lights first. I had to learn the hard way. When you pull up on the bottom to release the bumper cover from the bracket tabs that hold it in, the corners of the lights will dig right into the top of your bumper cover gashing the plastic and paint. Sucks but oh well it's just a bumper cover
Did you have to remove your mudflaps as well to get the bumper out? I noticed you had them when you showed the clip for the bumper on the wheel wells.. but I know the mudflaps are attached to different parts of the wheel well so I'm wondering if that needs to get out too?
Stupid question but do the mud flaps have to come off ? I have to install a trailer hitch and rally armor flaps and dont wanna have to reinstall flaps twice. It's a bitch with the rear splash guards
Yes it does, I used this video. I have a 2015 impreza. The only difference is the two screws near the lights aren't there on my car. That's litteraly it. He removes those first.
I am so pissed off, i see everyone getting the bumper off no problem, but mine wont come free from the tabs that are under the tail lights what the fuck man!
My answer is i was removing my tow bar frame and hitch which was an added factory option when I purchased it. I never tow, and it's unused and adds weight which effect fuel consumption and power.
Removing this bumper is brutal. You have to force it off, too much pressure in the wrong direction SNAP goes a clip, not enough and It'll never come loose. Then the clips.....their easy to get off but trying to put a clip through the wheel well plastic and the bumper plastic at the same time with nothing to press up against to help the clip through is an exercise in torture. I would recommend cleaning the whole bumper before you start, you will be manhandling the hell out of the bumper and to avoid getting really dirty and scratching the paint best to Windex it clean.
Thanks for the vid! Helped me to not feel like I was braking the bumper as I pulled it off on my 2018.

Thanks so much for your videos! I'm upgrading the audio and doing some repair on my 2015 Impreza, and they have helped a lot!

Does a regular Impreza, not WRX, work the same way?

@@akqjtn i got it off but had to buy removal tools. Trying to pull by hand alone will just break the tabs.
Cool, but why did you need to remove your rear bumper?
perhaps you might put an ecohitch invisi on it? ;)
