If you calculate the multicast distribution at lvl 3 ult, you'll find (0.14875, 0.44625, 0.255, 0.15) for 1-4 cast, respectively. This implies that Ogre's average multicast is 2.41 times. You'll get 2.4 times more value from Midas after lvl 18. I wish there was an indicator that shows the average multicasts until that time, so that we can know whether we are doing lucky or unlucky in terms of multicasts. One thing Dota 2 has is something called pseudorandom number generator. Let's say Dota 2 needs a random variable with distribution (0.2, 0.3, 0.5) taking values 1, 2 and 3. If they were generated independently, even if you observe 3, 3, 3, 3 in 4 consecutive times, it wouldn't affect what you will observe in the next time. But pseudorandom number generator (PNG) makes every sequence close to its mean as much as possible. Obviously it does it by breaking the independence. So, for example, if you observe 3, 3, 3, 2, 2, 3, the next symbol will be 1 with very high probability, because on average 1 out of 5 numbers must be 1, and in the last 5 numbers, you didn't observe any 1 and you observed 2's and 3's of the right amount. You can use this in your games as well. If you think that your Ogre didn't 4-cast in your 6 casts (of any skill/item), go and try to Midas some creeps. It will bump up your chance to some higher number.
Already clicked on "Like" even before the video started coz I appreciate this content so much.. and it is really fun to watch! Keep up the good work dude. The silent majority appreciates this! ^_^

I mentioned in chat about how I thought this would be one of the less useful smurf sessions you'd done because the game was just insane yolo diving and stuff. I'd like to partially take that back because watching the laning stage again was really insightful. It was a great example of how to play when you have better options available to you than just pulling small camp over and over. It was also useful to see how you play around spectre's needs and how you intended to play around the storm's level 6 even if the execution was a little off.
Could you help me understand why at the very beginning of the laning phase he goes right clicking on the enemy offlaner, causing the lane to push? Is it not better to pull the small camp and let spec static farming outside tower instead?
@@AnhLe-qr3tc he can exert his presence on the enemy then pull the hard camp which they cant contest because he is so strong. This gives him more gold and kills more of his creeps. It also lets him force the enemy to buy regen. Its basically the play that says 'I can do whatever I want in this lane and you can't stop me'. If he was a cm he'd probably just die for it or theyd farm the pulled camp and not him.
@@arcanuke3294 I agree that his pressure causes them to lose regen, but it does push 2 waves in front of their tower, allowing them to get exp from those. I think the more efficient play is to pull into the hard camp first, THEN pressure them. By doing so, he'd still cause them to lose regen, but the wave is also denied by the hard camp, resulting in less exp for the offlaners.
Been trying to recreate this Ogre performance. Haha. Not quite done it yet, but getting better! Great insights and this series has helped my game so much.
38:20 Multicast calculation for Ogre: 15% chance of 4-cast. (1-0.15)*0.3 = 25.5% chance of 3-cast. (1-0.15-0.255) * 0.75 = 44.625% chance of 2-cast. 1-0.15-0.255-0.44625 = 14.875% chance of 1-cast. BSJ calculated pretty accurately though by estimating 1-cast as 15%. It is strange that 1-cast and 4-cast are almost equally lucky for your opponent's and your perspective.
Yeah, but he forgot that multicast is pseudo-random, which means you could more or less predict when it's gonna be 3x+ (getting that 0x/2x a lot - it's gonna be 3x soon)
I dont know why BSJ does not know the midas multicast count. Technically you can “semi-predict” the multicast more than 1x. Its like this, if the last cast is 3x there is a rare chance it would go up to 4x. But definitely great chance there will be 2x chance or another 3x. This is the best window to multicast midas. The next one will be, if the last cast is 1x only. Chances are u will get another 1x but definitely high 3x and 2x since the probability resets to zero. Therefore cast a random skill first before midas.
Why did you not go for their 5 minute rune? Usually if the position 4 doesn't contest you you can just go get it. And if they do, you can either trade or leave.
How to determine when is the good time to pull the left camp instead of right (offlaner camp) camp or vice versa being a hardsupport? Cause most of the time hardsupport will just pull the left camp.
If lane is pushed much more towards enemy's tower, then you can pull big camp so the wave is cleared faster, and if enemy wants to stop you, then they are out of position. You can also double stack small camp and pull that too, so you give more xp to your carry. It all depends on line-up, if you can leave your core for a bit against two enemies, go for small camp
The big camp is easier for your opponents to contest, meaning you wont be able to get the pull off unless the lane is pushed around the river area if the enemy support pays any attention. furthermore if you do pull it and you and your carry are not able to fight the opponent you will just end up giving the offlaner a wave AND a jungle camp. The small camp is harder for the opponent to contest and forces them to either go full ham on your carry (who can hide under tower if he is smart) or contest the pull with at least one hero, both cases reduce pressure on your carry unless the opponent can straight up dive them. So the big camp is good when the lane is far out and you dont mind trading/fighting with the opponent, while the small camp is a more defensive option that allows you to split up the enemy lane duo in many cases while leaving your carry farming under tower and getting solo xp. Stack-pulling is an option but bsj doesn't recommend it as far as i know, because it gives the opponent a lot of time to respond.
