Legit had to search this up just to see the comment section hype it up. Unfortunately not many comments. Brolin absolutely destroyed in this scene. I could feel the anger and pain so much. It was like I was sitting at the table as a family member in there situation. The way they filmed it too like we are standing/sitting at the edge of the table. just an epic scene
I came here for the same reason. Great acting by Brolin in this scene. I loved the poker scene between him and Autumn in episode 4 as well.. Very well done Loving the show!
@@josephbalsamo5107 DUDE!!! WHEN THAT BISON JUST KNOCKED ON THE DOOR!!! again PERFECT example of just this rollercoaster of tense buildup like wtf is going on rn!!

Exactly my thoughts. Even this is a form of worship because even though he is telling God he hates him in this moment he is still with God. God asks that we bring our pain and confusion to him and even our anger. It also shows how a man of little to no faith is brought to the brink of time and space by the void he has discovered and he has no choice but to look to a higher power. Something powerful about that. Huge fan.
My whole life I’ve been listening to prayers, prayers by imitation, by the book, by custom; rarely prayers from the depths of a sincere heart… This truly feels like one.
This is one of the absolute greatest scenes in TV history. The grunting before another sentence to show how frustrating it is to lose THAT much control and to be in THAT much need of faith. Havin to speak to an idea you hate and needing it to be real. THERE IS A GREAT VOID
I can watch this over and over. It is an acting master class in humanistic realism. The way he grunts, slowly moves burning from asking for assistance, then an explanation, turning to rage because he accepts that he is talking to an imaginary concept of a creator.
Couple years back I was doing online Surveys and somehow was selected to read two spec scripts and give my opinion on them. One was this, the other was the "I know what you did last Summer" pilot. I remember I wrote back to the Ikwydls guys and basically just said "Change everything, or don't make this a show." Was unsurprised to hear it got cancelled. My advice to these guys was to "Change nothing, hell, go all out with it." And its kinda heartwarming to see they listened. Im sure the part I played was insignificant, but still.
I've not seen too much of Brolin's films but damn is he a phenomenal actor. This show is so amazing. Not a lot of big names but everyone supports each other and feed off each others energy. I literally think about this scene all the time. Something about it was so riveting and the frustration behind his words, amazing
Brolin has an eerie similarity between his Marvel character Thanos and this (Chronos the god of time). Brilliant show so far. Amazing, just amazing scene.
Sad that many Germans will watch such (& alot of other great movies & series from the U.S. etc.) only with a german Dub. Alot of Germans say it is very well done but common, like for this example Germans tend to translate the words, but not the meaning, the vibe, the whole pacing. This for also often incorrect. The word might be right but not in a certain conversation & often not what was meant. This series is very different when watching with german dub. Counts for alot other stuff too where something like dark humor in a movie/series turns into literal annoying drama instead of a good laugh 🤣 Also love the slow interactions this series has like Royal is aware what he wants to reveal when he is opening his mouth & what not. Thinking before speaking appears alot in Outer Range & takes time. Love it. Thanks for the upload.
@@tvl2868 You somehow stupid. Searched this based off of a conversation from a podcast I watch by former pastor Tim Ross called “the basement”… wowed. This is exactly what The Good Lord meant when He said to “COME AS YOU ARE”! Most think attire, like clothes of some sort. But it’s the heart… it’s where you are in life, coming with honesty and truth. He will meet you right there. 🥹✨
Been going to church my whole life. This is the most real prayer I’ve ever heard even though it isn’t real. Brutally honest.
Josh Brolin is so good here, you can really feel his anger, frustration, and desperate cry for hope.

This is an actual prayer, a lamentation. Just a man, his faith and his frustration and anger.
Bravo Josh Brolin!

it's a well acted scene. great camera work. and great editing. the tension and emotion is felt

i agree, you can feel his frustration and desperate grasp for hope
Brolin is such a great actor. From Hollow Man, No Country for Old men, Avengers, Sicario, Dune, etc. I love how no one interrupts him at the table
indeed! great scene. hope the show continues
The sicario movies are fantastic!
Great great scene, you can really feel his frustration and anger
it is! the frustration is clearly just beneath the surface. starting to overflow.
I keep coming back to this scene like a classic song. Its palpable.
Same
it's a very well done scene. do you think we will get a season 2?
@pOOL_pANTS yep... sometime in 2024. It's finished filming evidently.
Give him the goddamn Emmy. Just give it to him..
definitely memorable and worthy

thanks for the comment!
Woah. Just discovered this show tonight. This is one of the heaviest scenes I’ve ever seen.
it's deep, well acted, scripted, and filmed scene.
this is going to go down as one of the greatest scenes of all time...I'm waiting for it to break ;)
i hope so. it's a great scene for sure
There is a great void.
Yes!
at this point in time, we dont know yet what that means.
I hope we get a season 2
The way he says amen is so damn manly. Shoutout to brolin for this incredible scene
he's an amazing actor. can't believe i watched him in Goonies. he's come a long way
Powerful scene!
it is. hope the show continues to grow like this
thanks for loading this.
incredible scene. Someone commented that no one at the table interrupts. I think that includes many of the viewers.
you bet- great scene
Worth oscar award!
better than most acting ive seen lately

woa cool you did a survey on a future Outer Range show?
that's kind of neat. what year was this, do you remember?
this is actually really awesome (i mostly support myself through surveys and other things right now). maybe your responses influenced things.
just started watching this show and this scene realy stood out to me.
After rewatching this, the "adds up" bit makes so much more sense now
it's a great build up that needs context for those who havent seen it. But even as a standalone clip, it's really well done.

it's a fun story telling device. It can be slow at times but I enjoy the pacing compared to everything else that has to be fast and action packed.

its very well done. acting, slow camera zoom and angles.
We've all had this moment. It was an honest scene. I believe.

well done scene right? will we get a season 2?

agreed
Trauma, karma, inquiry, iow, the imperatives of inhabiting our humanity ... kind of awesome-hilarious that it falls to Brolin, Emaho ⚡🌈🙏
agreed.
Great scene. I don’t think that’s the real Royal though….something else came back with him.
interesting theory--- i think that's possible.
