⚠️Warning from AC specialist ⚠️
I am an HVAC Product manager with 8 year experience in Daikin.Dont use any other filters otherthan the manufacturer provide because of the two conditions.
1) when AC runs in fan mode with this filter there will be excess load in motor and fan blades.ur room AC (RAC)/split AC have fans designed with low cfm (air flow ) and low static pressure.To pull air through a hepa u need more static.Without this motor will heat up and also there will be heavy load on fan blades.this will leads to fan blade and motor damage.also a non sealed HEPA doesnet provide much filtration.
2) When you use a better filter it has smaller passages for the air to pass ,Due to this there will be pressure drop.our room AC (RAC)/split AC have fans designed with low cfm (air flow ) and low static pressure.so these fans will not be able to suck air through these filters which will lead to less air passed through ur evaporator coil.
Due to this heat transfer will not be adequate and the liquid refrigerant will remain as liquid and these will go to compressor ,where as this should not happen because compressor can only compress gas not liquid.This is called "liquid flood back", this will lead to failure of compressor in very short period of time.

@@aizen716 I doubt that this UA-camr knows that this type of device would damage your AC. They're not professionals in any industry field, but they are good at finding and short term testing a lot of consumer tech that seems useful.
Shows most of the youtubers have little technical knowledge and no common sense.
This is a bad idea because the HEPA filter is not sealed.
Un-sealed filters are of no use.

@seaker9206 he is not saying that he is lying. You should watch the video about purifiers from tech burner. The readings he is using aren't accurate cuz these purifiers do not measure accurately. Tech burner has described everything. And he is right, simple hepa filter is not good.

The person in the video needs to test the AQI by just turning on the AC without that filter to draw better comparisons
@@vamos419that's not how ACs work, the AC when put in fan mode sucks air from top and pushes it out from the vents, so putting a filter there will work. Might not work as well when the filters are sealed but will work nonetheless
@@SURAJ12345611 Even when the AC runs in the cool mode (when condenser is on), it still sucks the air from the top and gets filtered from the inside filters nonetheless.
Only difference in fan mode is, the condenser doesn’t turn on.
Split ACs have very specific instruction that nothing should block the air suction. And this being placed right on the air suction means the amount of continuous air that AC needs will drastically slow down, as this filter will also have its own limitation. This will put a lot extra load on the fan motor.
Ay.. Am ac expert right here and it does not block air flow or just upgrade your ac for built-in ionizor
If there isn't any cooling going on (fan mode), it should be fine.

Running AC on fan mode can cause wear and tear to the fan mechanism. This product is good but make sure you use it in moderation if you want your AC to last!

Making air filters at home is pretty easy. There was a startup on this idea. It was that applying a hepa filter with a simple table fan gave results equal to those expensive hepa filter air purifiers. He then made his own startup for cheap air purifiers which was basically a table fan with a hepa filter. We can do this at home too. I read his answer on quora with his comparisons but I don't remember his startup name.
Now AC have converter mode, so you can reduce ton usage and switch on Fan
Oh so when ur using AC on cooling mode, the winds are magically generated?

3M has been making split ac air cleaning filters for years and they are 1/4th the cost of these, with better quality too. This is just a worse implementation of an already successful product. Doubt IITians had to do anything with it, if yes, disappointing.

A “1 ton” AC is often referred to as “1 ton of ice”, and it can cool a room for up to 24 hours without melting down completely.so in HVAC terms a ton means the amount of heat the ac can remove in an hour.
Putting an air filter on top of another air filter is one of the dumbest things one could do, please if you are gonna do this at least remove the built in filter… coming from an hvac technician! Most problems are generated by filters, probably like 80% of the problems

Just buy a good purifier. Levoit makes excellent and affordable ones. I personally have their Core 200S and it's fantastic.

Costs less than replacement filters. Not when it burns the AC motor/fan which are not built to suck air through a thick layer of HEPA filter. Also, rhe filter isn't even sealed. You do know air takes the path of least resistance right?
Most AC's don't have intake on top of it. I think this will increase the load on the motors due to more suction pressure and damage AC

Conventional ac fans are not capable to handle the static pressure across hepa filter and the motor will malfunction, hepa filter needs replacement time to time not like normal filters which can be cleaned and reused, "kuch bhi bolte hai youtubers" 😅

Because there will be very less air coming through those filters and load on suction gets increased, hence air circulation is affected severely and sustained load on motors.

@@revanthXhow bro how????? There is impeller inside AC which is just spinning and throwing Air. If we put filter there then there is lesser air so lesser load. So fan might spin faster. If the same suction air is used to cool the motor then it is logical that it will overheat and burn itself out.

HEPA filter is not needed for homes!! On the return air side more resistance will be build to pull air through HEPA filter, and you will see drop in air flow rate or air changes. Your home AC is not designed to be compatible with HEPA. Yes, you may get purifed air and less particulates due to HEPA filtration, but your room conditions and air turbulence will nullify HEPA air filters benefits
Change it frequently or it will put load on the blower and cooling effect will drop due to less heat exchange compress will be heated too etc
There is a seperate filter set for summer (cooling mode) which does not affect cooling.
