    For me it‘s kinda hard to figure out if this is the most entertaining or worst packing video ever. I like especially the attitude of the boys :D

    I've literally never heard of another long time Christian traveller so I was pleasantly surprised to hear Jacq pack a Bible! I'm just bringing a NT but that made me really happy :-)

      chowie aww! Yes! We’re out there! Lots of Jesus follower travelers out there but I’ve only stumbled upon a few travel vloggers. I ended up bringing a little Gideon bible with me that I left in Chile with a note and someone found it and told me the coolest story! Someday I’ll share the story! Are you on your trip now or still getting ready?

      Also, I see y’all had the puff jackets and maybe another sweater, but what was the coldest temperature y’all ran into? I’m usually always cold, unless it’s a summer in Taiwan, so I find packing for summer and winter to be a struggle.

    • @itsbrittjohnson
      @itsbrittjohnson  4 роки тому +1

      Candace Fish I want to go to Japan too! We love sushi so much. 🍣 the coldest weather was probably in South Korea in February at about 30-40’F but those two layers were enough. If we had planned to go to more diverse climates I probably would have just budgeted to buy extra warm clothing once we got to those places but the rest of our trip was pretty mild!

    • @candacefish2845
      @candacefish2845 4 роки тому

      Sushi is my favorite!! And I suppose you have a valid point. You can always buy clothing wherever you are. 🤦‍♀️

    Guitar is very cool. I just travel with a capo and picks and play any guitar I can get my hands on, often find them in hostels :) Considering a uke but atm I like travelling ultra light.

    • @itsbrittjohnson
      @itsbrittjohnson  4 роки тому +1

      Alex Wood yes! That’s a smart way to do it! Sometimes it’s so nice to just have it everywhere whenever you want it though :) the case that it comes with is so nice to fit some things in the pouches so I get a lot of functionality out of that too! But most flights don’t count a guitar as another bag since its carry on size and in a different category than a bag since it’s a “musical instrument” I never had to check it on any of our 57 flights! We just always checked in online and then walked through security and onto the plane confidently and no one ever asked! I usually walked in with three carry on bags! My big pack, my day pack, and my guitar. I say go for it!!!

    Hello Britt, I hope you read my comment cause you publicated your video a year and a half ago ! I have a huge dilemma between the Osprey Farpoint 55 and 70. Are you sure that the Osprey Farpoint 55 can be used as a carry on pack? At first it seems that there is a huge difference between both bags, although the dimensions are very similar Farpoint 55 (M/L: 25 x 13 x 12 inches) and Farpoint 70 (S/M: 24 x 13 x 13 inches). I would like to ask you your opinion about this because as you said: the removable bag is 13 litres, so the main pack is 42 Litres in the Osprey 55 and, on the other hand 57 Litres in the Osprey 70. I don't know what to do hahaha. Thank you so much for your time and your informative video :)

    Hey :)) How did you transport the guitar? Did you get it through carry on or give it off and if did you brought an hardcase ?

    • @itsbrittjohnson
      @itsbrittjohnson  7 років тому +1

      Alex We good question! The guitar itself is designed for overhead carry-on dimensions! Flying within the U.S they don’t even count it as your two carry on items it’s in its own category as a “musical instrument”. Overseas I have never had a problem except on really tiny planes but I always opt to let them take my big backpack first over my soft case guitar and it works fine! We have been on DOZENS of flights in 16 different countries and I bring my 60L backpack, a 20L daypack on my front AND my guitar and I NEVER have had an issue! Although I look like an idiot! Just always try to check in on flights online or at the automatic kiosks at the airport to avoid the counter and by the time you get to the gate they never seem to care! And since you can always put it overhead you don’t need to worry about having a hard case! Only if it gets shoved under the plane which won’t happen! Traveler guitar brand is cheap and sounds excellent, the link to their website is in the description of the video! Hope that helps! Happy travels

    Are the osprey bags supportive and comfortable enough to use on hiking trips?

    • @itsbrittjohnson
      @itsbrittjohnson  7 років тому

      Invictus Dominatus that’s a great question! On short hikes it would be fine. The hip strap is like other osprey bags so you can get the weight off your shoulders and onto your hips. The internal frame is rigid but not as much as a true hiking pack. It would work fine short term but maybe not trekking through the Himalayas for a week, ya know? I’ll be posting a more thorough bag review soon if you’re interested in more details!

    Something that I noticed btw and am curious about is the custom water bottle holder attatchment that one of the guys said he added to his pack. Would you guys mind giving me more details on that? I recently just ordered the farpoint 40L and one of the biggest concerns I have about it IS the water holders. It'd be super useful to know how to make that attatchment/where to buy it from (if it was bought). Thanks in advance!

      Saki Marie haha Steve was so happy to read this comment!! He used the extra strap that came with the bag (the luggage shoulder strap that clips on) cut and sewed it into the shape he wanted and then sewed it onto the bag. Like your video, great idea, but suggest you enunciate product names and exactly what they were a little better. Some items your rushed your speech, sometimes you seemed to mumble (like you were almost just talking to your self) and could not hear what you were saying at all. Maybe if I were familiar with the products or a backpacker I would have been familiar with all the products & caught all what you were saying, listened twice, still didn't get all what you were saying. Maybe you were feeling uncomfortable making the video or maybe you might need to just move your microphone closer. :-) Guys, you don't need to be so silly, the info you were trying to share would be very helpful if we could hear you, when we could hear you you were laughing and being silly, assume you were just feeling uncomfortable making the video.. Glad you were having a good time but need to hear the info. NOT trying to bash you guys AT ALL, appreciate your effort and desire to share, just hoping to help you to make your next video better. :-) Good luck and happy travels.

    How do you manage with the weight restrictions for carry on luggage?

    • @itsbrittjohnson
      @itsbrittjohnson  6 років тому

      jodie spackman oh man it was tricky! We were always so nervous at the check in counter! Almost every airline we used we were able to check in online so we didn’t have to go to the counter, once in Cape Town they weighed my bag at the gate and made me check it from there for free, but cheap European airlines are the strictest, we definitely got lucky a couple of times when they randomly skipped weighing us at the gate. Most airlines had a 9kg/20lb weight limit and we were always right around there by strategically putting our heavy things like our hammocks and laptops in our small day packs (counting as our one “personal item”) the few times we couldn’t check in online and we had to go to the counter, we practiced being good happy customers and usually when our bags were only a few pounds over limit they didn’t care, they were mostly confused as to why we wouldn’t check it for free, but it’s SO nice not worrying about losing your bags! Our lives were in there! I would say that out of the 45 planes we took this year that we only had issues maybe 5 times! And only once did we pay... and that was our flight in Las Vegas in dumb America out of all places haha! I hope that was helpful! Are you planning a trip anytime soon?

    • @jodies8053
      @jodies8053 6 років тому

      hodoscollective ahhh ok!! That’s really good. I hate being separated from my bag. I took the farpoint 40 round thailand last year but I thought there was no way I would get away with the weight so just checked it. + the weight limit was 7kg for everything. I might try to do hand luggage next year. :)

    • @itsbrittjohnson
      @itsbrittjohnson  6 років тому

      jodie spackman I guess we just went into it with the attitude of “the worst that could happen is we pay a little extra to check our bag at the counter instead of when we are booking the flight. if we don’t have to pay, great!” Just walk confidently and no one will care or ask you questions! And if you need more inspiration, imagine me with THREE BAGS and getting through haha! I had my 60 L carry on, my one personal item day pack on my front, and my travel guitar (that I tell them it doesn’t count because it’s technically classified as a “musical instrument” and Airlines in America don’t count it as another item!) haha, I looked ridiculous but it worked EVERY TIME!

      @jodies8053 6 років тому
