Such a great and quality video. Much appreciated your sharing the beauty and tips for enjoying good fishing on the Caney. Looking forward to putting them to use.
Looks like I need to make the drive to the Caney this year. Glad you shared the tip about following the alerts. My last trip to the Hiwasee, a gentleman waited too long to start back and got stranded on the wrong side of the river. Not a good position to be in. Excellent info and video.
When using a braid main line to two pound flourocarbon leader, do you have your drag set so low that you strip drag on the snap? I am having issues breaking off on a bite with light line. I might be using too stiff of a rod with the braid??
We personally do not use braid down to a 2lb leader. If we are using a braid to fluorocarbon it is typically around the 4lb range. A good thin diameter braid helps. We use 2lb mono with a 2lb fluorocarbon as well.
These are made by Shawnee Supreme boat company. Weldon has a L48 and David has a 207xp. Both of them run jets which make a big difference on these rivers.
We did well with white/chartreuse, white, southern bell, stocker bow, peaches, and brown trout D2 Jigs. They turned on to Black and purple for a few hours then the bite slowed. Trout Magnets do well in red, white, mint, and pink.
We do our best to educate and empower people to safely utilize the beautiful resources at our disposal as Americans. Surely we could all agree that we need more time in nature. If this video helps ONE person reconnect with nature and spend some time within the banks of the Caney, then its a success in our book. We were careful about the information we included out of respect for the many anglers who consider this their home water. No mention was given to "The Pond" and 90% of filming took place in the top 3 miles on high water.
David is the best Trout guide I’ve ever had. He’s experienced and will put you on fish any time of the year.
He's a good one for sure! Thanks for the kind words.
that river looks fun! Especially with Hair jigs! Gonna put it on the list to try that river out!
It's an awesome river!

You don't know what you don't know! We need to get you in Roy's boat on the Caney sometime.
@@lelandslures I’m up for that anytime! Just a short drive from me.
Used to wade there years ago...wonderful place to fish and explore.
I LOVE THESE VIDEOS !
I can't remember the details, but back in 2,000 a guy caught a 16 lb brown on the Caney that made the cover of sports illustrated.
Man. Live in Knoxville and drive over the Caney when we go to visit the in-laws. I have got to start making trips to fish it.
It's a lot of fun when it is on!

Awesome video! What kind of boats are yall fishing out of? Also, do yall run props or jets?

@@lelandslures Thanks!
What colors yall have the best luck on headed to the caney in a couple of days.

@@lelandslures thanks
Just ordered some
What specific rod would you recommend for 1/16 and 1/8 d2 jigs?
We like our 6'6" SLS rod. It's a light action pole with a fast tip.
Videos like this don’t help Caney get back to the “glory days”
