Honda CB350F Restoration - Part 13 - The Rebuilt Bottom End

- Опубліковано 6 жов 2024
- In this chapter we finally get hold of the main bearing shells and reassemble the bottom end of the engine... So far the engine has had new main and big end bearings, new timing chain and tensioner bridge and a new primary drive chain. We have also fitted it with new gaskets and seals. We also take a look at lightly polishing the engine cases in this chapter. In the next video, we will be hydroblasting the top end, sending out the barrels to be bored and fitting new pistons, rings, a timing chain tensioner and guide. Then comes the head rebuild and the engines' back in the bike for starting... looking forward to riding this little bike, it should be a lot of fun. Cheers and take care.
Nice to see the 350 coming together so sweetly, boss! It'll be one of the very best around. Always look forward to the next update, cheers!
Thanks for turning this agent on to Peter. He's bloody brilliant. Cheers from Vermont!
Honda bonding in the garage, child bonding in the lounge. You've got life covered Peter.
And wife bonding upstairs? Nah, I will keep it civil, cheers and thanks.
I deliberately left that line alone. Now look what you've done. : )
Hi Peter. I'm a bit late to the party as only just caught up on the 750/350 builds. Thanks for taking the time ans effort. Enjoy the vids including the out takes and especially your humour. Cheers.
Nice one Peter, nothing like rebuilding a nice clean engine soooooooooooo satisfying.
Always such meticulous work. So much to learn from the way you do things Peter. 👍
Thanks!
Looking good Pete - I now have a dismantled Yamaha 250 in the barn - son David has decided to rebuild it.....
Hi Rich, yes Dave messaged me on Facebook, which I only really saw by chance as I seldom use it... looks like a nice job - I assume you shall be getting your hands dirty? You should pitch in, you do great work, cheers.
Thanks Pete, very absorbing.
So enjoyalble to watch your meticulous work...thanks for sharing!
Thanks, it was fun to do, cheers.
Well done! Engine building is too much fun, another great video!
Thanks mate, just finished watching you doing a teardown on the little MR50 - looks like you're going to zip that one up pretty quickly, cheers.
@@PeterAndersons Hope to get it running pretty quick, I would like to do a restoration some day if I could just find the perfect bike for me. Thanks for watching
@@kentuckyyankee Don't know mate, you have a few choice candidates there... pick one from your stable and blow it apart - CB360?
@@PeterAndersons I am painting the gas tank and side covers on the 360 out of necessity, who knows what the future will bring, but your right getting time to s@#t or get off the pot 😂😂
Looks less complicated than a Citroen SM ignition switch lol
Informative as always Pete :) Thanks for the vid :)
Lot of progress today. Great video as usual peter.
Thanks Jim, more on the way, cheers.
What a fabulous start to my week Pete! Loving how this sweet little motor is coming together. Can't wait for the next chapter which I know I will enjoy as much as you do putting it together...
Cheers and take care Pete
Hi to Suzie and the Anderson crew!
Peter, is there anything you can’t do? Enjoy your videos immensely. Thanks again.
There's a lot I can't do mate, but thanks so much for saying, cheers.
Brings back memories. Cheers.
Love your work mate 👍
Livin the dream,Pete ))
Thank you for showing this.I always thought bike engines would be so complicated.(I just need to change a shift fork and wondered...)TY from MI.USA.
The shift mechanism in this thing is ridiculously simple and easy to work with - much easier than the 750, cheers.
Hi Peter great video m8, do enjoy the bike stuff, looks like the dunny buggie was croaking on the bench at about 45 mins in, looking forward to the next instalment, ATVB Wayne UK.
Yes, an annoying thing and I couldn't find where it went, but it was quiet in the garage today, so it passed haha,
I love it when an aluminium cover goes home "klop" on the dowels.
Yes definitely - fortunately I didn't hear the dreaded sharp snap... when it cracks haha, cheers.
Hi Pete. I’m at this stage with my 350f rebuild. Can you please let me know when you are able to move the clutch actuator now the cover is on? Mine won’t budge. Thinking I should be able to get some movement there, but not sure as it’s my first rebuild and learning as I go (with loads of help from your awesome video’s!). Cheers
Luke.
Did you get an answer on that one?
Hey Peter! I took your advice with my 350f, put 100 miles on her the other day and just tried to not worry! LOL :) Maybe next winter I'll tear her down, and THANKFULLY you've made a nice set of videos to guide me through it :) Enjoyed seeing you on another one of scott's videos today! Still super cool you went there! I'm a little jealous LOL those guys seem like the COOLEST!
Hey one question I do have though, How many miles were on this bike? obviously it had a hard life, but I just wonder if mine is eating through that timing tensioner already at 12,000 miles?
Hello mate, this had 32,000 miles on it... I wouldn't have touched it, but the broken tensioner bolt and 90 degree anomaly on the valve timing was the deciding factor. The guys at CWM were sensational and there were no surprises, they were exactly as I thought they would be - as you see them in the videos. Glad you're riding your bike... I need to finish some of these. There are also some brilliant 350F engine rebuilding videos by a UA-camr called DeWoody's Shop, cheers.
That's unusual, a video on a Saturday afternoon. Normally they come in very late Sunday night. Must be getting all
the garage work done before all the "Cup" celebrations.
I was looking forward to seeing that fly death spinning on the window sill though. :o)
Hope your annual "Cup" get-togethers go well.
Thanks Harvey, there's a Cup gig happening this Tuesday. Much of this engine footage was done a little while ago, cheers.
My late father have one of these.. i wish i could restore it again.. but it already have been sold to a scrap.. 😔😔😔
What type of oil did you put in the XL250?....I recently put synthetic oil in my son's bike and it was noisy and ticking, went back to a mineral oil and it's fine again.
G'day Peter I was just wondering how bad was that Canadian tea?
I never really tried it haha... I went on a coffee diet while I was there, cheers.
Sorry, should read ‘whether’ you are able to move the actuator
I've never seen that stuff. Never even heard of plastiguard or whatever.
Yes, it's been around forever... it gives a fairly accurate idea, but not as good as a set of mics, cheers.
