  • Philippines On the Waterfront in Davao Staycation
Staying at the Waterfront Insular Hotel in Davao City Philippines. This is a magnificent hotel that I have stayed at many times over the years in my trips to Davao City in the Philippines.
I had stuff I needed to get done in Davao for a few days so booked a stay. The first night we were forced to move rooms because the air went out in one of the buildings. The staff were great and got us moved to something temporary for the first night and later went overboard making it up to us for the rest of the stay.
The service at this hotel is always world class and this stay was no exception. I will always return to this property because of the great service and the amazing grounds. It is a place that is in the city but feels as if you are in a tropical wilderness.

Stayed in the same hotel, back end of June, and Had the same issue with Aircon. They never offered a room replacement, I had to accept a Fan to keep cool at night. It's a very nice hotel but the rooms are very dated and need a lot of work. The food, Breakfast was amazing. The staff is very friendly, I would visit again but only consider the Suite after looking at this video.

Always good when you get what you paid for. I thought you were gonna say “ sorry sir, out of stock “ ( no other rooms available ) . But when they give up an UPPER, up grade, very note worthy indeed. American style ( ? ) gratitude for putting up with the inconvenience. When in Davao, I’ll give them a try.

Nice video. Going there March of next year. Btw, in Los Angeles you can get a spot in the parking lot of a hotel for $50 a night 😆 to be honest $50 hotel room is something of the past. You are lucky to get $60 to $70 room at motel 6 or other cheap hotels. We are getting 4 superior rooms for 7 nights at insular for 8 people including breakfast and taxes for $1222. U can't beat that.

There are many age-old hotels throughout the Philippines that are still operating until now. I had stayed at this Waterfront Davao when I was a teenager, and now that I am a senior citizen, I might stay there one day, just to relive its heydays, and to synchronize the ageing process of both this human and the locale.😀

Wonderful hotel, doesn't look much different than in 2006. My fiance and took the boat to Pearl Farm Resort on Samal from there, several times. Maybe you have been there? If not maybe check it out, it is worth the trip and money, all exclusive food buffets were world class and our cabin over the aqua blue water filled with fish was like a dream. We did the News Years package in 2008, it was the best with big entertainers from Manila, biggest buffet I have even seen and huge fireworks show (Which was not allowed then in Davao)

I have been there but never stayed overnight. Current rates are starting at around $300, although I can afford it I have a hard time justifying it compared to other places I can go. Although I know the rates include full board, I feel like I have become a Kuripot (cheap)! Thailand kind of spoiled me on luxury for less money. Why is that? Why are the foreigners being prioritised over the locals? It should be equal. How the other is served should be the same, regardless.

It can work for a home base depending on your needs and length of stay. Downtown traffic is really congested. Very safe city, lower cost than the other major cities in the Philippines. Incredibly nice people.

Personally, I was not impressed with the food choices for breakfast. However, I would not have gone hungry given the choices on offer.
