once again thanks for having me.. I really think talion can be super strong with a patient pilot.. bronzebeak came in super clutch with emiel.. thanks for the cedh fun and hopefully catch ya'll again.. peace
I don't even play cEDH, but y'all are my favorite Magic channel. The brilliant lines of play, ten-part counterspell wars, and theory are just excellent.
First time I saw the card it more or less soloed the game. Not even an infinite combo, just a couple turns of 3 people unlucky enough to not draw answers while playing cards. Now I respect it al lot.
love it when the games go long! the way you guys edit down these insane games is just so impressive. i never thought i could understand cedh with my poor casual brain, but the amount of time and effort you guys put into making sure the game actions / board state are easily followed is REALLY appreciated.
At 17:15 and 19:03, Nate seems to be resolving the Pantlaza triggers before making his decisions for Bronzebeak's ETB. Since the ability targets, he would need to declare targets before seeing what he hits with the discover, so he wouldn't know he was hitting The One Ring before choosing whether to get rid of Bowmasters or something else.
This sort of friendly, competitive attitude is what I wish for on spelltable.. most of the time its weird and salty where people take it way too personal. Love the content
The last Nate's turn is so crazy! Having Nate's Emiel standing in the battlefield till the end is crazy. Wandering if it's would be better to keep the Ranger Captain of Eos for Nate to stop Dylan for an extra turn.
Wolf’s deck name really shows why it got named that. I’m half way through the video and all that’s happened is he’s drawn cards while everyone else plays.
Damn I remember also meeting and playing with Wolf at a small store in Australia helped him build a thr eminence like life gain deck it was a good time
Just a reminder that you have to announce your targets before othet things can happen. E.g. bronzebeak has to announce targets before the discovet trigger.
Neither of them seemed too relevant this game. Dylan won and didn't get any. As long as you draw enough cards you always can easily convert them to mana (ritual, rocks, dorks). Was that way since Alpha. Dockside is the only broken one and would be broken even giving mana instead of treasure.
At 11:20, I think Cam should not be able to crack both of those treasures, because one of them had just entered the battlefield tapped (Dauntless Dismantler)
if i was in wolf's position, and i was sitting there with no ability to block creatures but had a bloodchief ascension turned on like that, i would had been focused out of the game. Could you had just activated the douthi voidwalker at most any time to just counter something? There were a bunch of blue permanents on field and you had a pyroblast on it for the longest time.
Am I the only one who appreciates how this is obviously never scripted in any way. They have an amazing guest but they dont go first cause the actually rolled, and didnt just refilm a game cause they durdled, this is just honest and real cedh, i love it!
He got forced to draw a card (& thus lose) between drawing his whole deck & the effect that would let him win the game instead could get resolved, if I remember correctly
What you know about rolling for mana crypt? When you roll odds then you gotta take the damage. If you hold up blue, you're getting silenced on upkeep. 🎶🎶...ok i give up. Someone else can finish it.
Question for wolf: Is peer and ad naus not a good fit to the deck? I notice the massive amount of control, which is expected, but wouldn't those help drastically?
Peer way to much mana and ad naus combined with that would just hurt way too much. If I didn’t have bloodchief that game I would have been at 10 or lower.. talion strives at control and I would rather play necropotence paying 5-10 life to get card advantage rather than ad naus - hope that helps
Tokens hit the graveyard don’t they so wouldn’t Cam have been taking 2 for each treasure he popped so wouldn’t he have killed himself with his treasure usage?
Dylan, you missed SO MANY Bowmaster triggers! Also left the archivist up for way too long, should’ve hit it the the turn Cam died, you pinged Nate in the face for 3 or 4 pretty useless damage.
I would like to point out that the trigger to put a counter on Blookchief is a may ability. When it was pointed out at 6:14 Wolf had technically already missed his trigger as it was already Cam's turn.
The Bloodchiefs Ascension only triggers when cards hit the grave. Dauthi only triggers on opponents cards. Dylan's and Nate's cards were all exiled instead of hitting the grave while Cam's cards still all hit his grave and triggered the BA. Hope this helps.
Generally in cEDH if your deck is functioning how it's meant to then a boardwipe card is a dead draw and a set back if you cast it, Cards like Toxic Deluge and Fire covenant are the closest things to a wrath some decks will run because the setback on yourself can be minimized
@@PlaytoWinMTG sorry I mean bloodchief could have been active a turn earlier, missed a trigger to put a counter on at the end of the pantlaza turn when they shocked in the sacred foundry
I might be missing something, but the touch the spirit realm on the dockside was done during Nate's mainphase, but when it comes back during the end step he's still casting spells like it's his main phase. It was a very confusing boardstate so forgive me if I'm not seeing when it was supposed to come back. Also saw that there was a missed blood chief trigger earlier with Nate shocking in his sacred foundry. Only change would have been Nate not having to use his Boseiju to get Cam down 2 more life.
That was awesome, loved it! Very impressed with bloodchief ascension Once again VERY underwhelmed with the Francisco combo. Definitely don’t think it’ll stick around
Very slight rules/editing thing that literally does not matter, but I believe that when showing the images for the triggers off of Cam swinging, even if two pirates hit it's only one Malcolm trigger because of how it's worded. Like I said though literally doesn't matter and arguably better to edit it in this "wrong" way for clarity's sake
You're correct in a 1v1 game, however, if you hit two different players it triggers the ability twice. Grim Hireling works the same way, if you hit 3 players with 3 different creatures, you get 6 treasures. Note that these cards say "a player". It was hard for me to get at first, but just imagine if you replaced it with "a Planeswalker" and were attacking 3 different planeswalkers owned by different players. It makes sense intuitively that if you dealt damage to 3 unique PWs, you'd trigger the ability 3 separate times.
@@pixell2520 oh good catch! Gotta love modern formatting and no two cards operating alike! Francisco says a player and I just assumed the pirate partners had the same wording
@ekuude You'd assume that! But see that's assuming that it would make sense, and the designers can't be having that. (Really though I don't understand why they did just do a player everything else that works like this is worded that way)
Not sure why you're talking about Dauthi Voidwalker killing you. It's just denying lifegain to Wolf at the cost of Dylan and Nate not losing life. Cam's still losing the same amount he would otherwise.
@@damo9961 @stormtrooperjeepjk That's why it only triggers for Cam's cards hitting the grave, as his cards don't get exiled by Dauthi. Everyone elses do get exiled and Bloodchief doesn't drain them
Spoiler warning: Why wouldn't cam sacrifice the voidwalker to cast sheoldred way earlier so he could try to outgain blood chief ascencion? Seems like a super obvious play given voidwalker was hurting him and his life total was low for a while

Pretty cool to have Masked Wolf come and spectate a game of 3 player cEDH!

Shouldn’t dauntless make cams treasures also come in tapped?
At 11:20, I think Cam should not be able to crack both of those treasures, because one of them had just entered the battlefield tapped (Dauntless Dismantler)

That Franscisco needed to be swinging at wolf when it could. The commander dmg probably would of killed him
3:57 Malcolm only triggers once, no matter how many opponents you hit.
Nope, literally says so on the card. "You create a treasure token for each opponent dealt damage"
