Block is probably *not* the best ambassador for a golf brand trying to sell the newest hotness.
He showed up with a bag of clubs that was a fraction of the price of what everyone else was using. It's even possible that the top pros were using clubs that are literally priceless based on the hours of fitting and customization that they are privy to.
Block proved that you can pick up a quality set of used clubs for under $800, put in the practice, find what works for you, and you'll be able to beat the best in the world on one of the hardest set-ups in the golfing world. He is singlehandedly ruining the articles in every magazine, screaming at every +20 golfer to upgrade *this* year to gain
With all that said, huge props to him for getting set up with TaylorMade. That's a life changing deal.

Michael has been a brand ambassador for Nike and Taylor Made for years,He’s actually on the National Players Council for them as well as an Elite Nike Ambassador so getting access to the best fitting and equipment is not a problem and there would be no charge for a club pro of his stature as well as being a PGA Professional of the Year….

To compound upon the Lee Trevino shout; that’s why one must mind their quiver. How you fire and what you fire with is one of the most enjoyable things about the game. Your discipline and capability matched with clubs you know, love and trust. I play SM4 Vokeys because I can’t let them go.😂

Michael did well because he knew the value of a par. He mostly played for the center of the greens leaving him many lag putts. But as we all know the putter wins majors. If you're lucky enough to sink a few birdies your chances of winning increase.

You actually sound shocked clubs imo have not improved for years if you believe the marketing hype we should all be hitting drives 400 yards the tolerances they adhere to was reached when they were introduced we now hitting 7 irons which are 6 or maybe 5 iron lofts so if you like shiny new sticks then go spend your hundreds but imo you probably still not hitting it much better than a set from the charity shop

I’m a massive supporter of playing what you’re comfortable with. It brings in confidence and overthinking shots. Once I find a club I love, I’ll play if til it breaks or gets caved in. And if I feel that they still stand up to what’s out now, I’ll try and find in online in mint condition if I can find it. I’ve always had almost a relationship with what’s in my bag. May sound weird but most hardcore golfers know exactly what I’m talking about

100%. I have tried a lot of newer clubs and equipment. I’m just so dialed with my current old stuff. And it sometimes annoys me because I like new shines things. But it’s hard to spend 1300$ on a set of irons that I don’t play better.

Not to nit-pick, but that putter does not have an "added sharpie line." When the 2-ball first came out, it had a black line down the top for alignment. The next iterations removed the black line, so people drew it back on by hand like you're referring to. My stepdad has one of these factory line putters, and they're incredibly rare. The more you know!

Micheal Block and Jason Day are showing every average golfer that you don't need the latest and greatest golf clubs to win... My brother has a friend who is a legit scratch player and for year's he used a old set of blade he had. And people always asked this guy why he didn't buy new clubs? And his response was, he knew exactly how far each club would go with his swing. it wasn't until 2 years ago that he had to buy some new irons because he had taken his irons to get the grooves sharpened and the face of the clubs refinished and they messed it up and his irons started to rust...

While not a PGA pro this guy is the 9 time section player of the year in one of the largest congregation of pga pros in the united states, he can play, period. He had a great week and using statistics if he plays 25 times on the PGA tour he would struggle, but he only needed his one week and deserves all the credit for getting it done. He probably struggles at Colonial, and if I were him I would take the money on a club deal next week because his chances are pretty low to win money by finishing high.

It hosted the PGA (a non-profit organization) and the seniors tour many times. The pressure kept mounting and he finished 15th and won 288,333 thousand dollars. What a great finish. You will never hear his name again. And most humans don't play with nearly his amount of money in the bag. He's using a custom Stealth 2 driver. Very inexpensive.
