Mercury dissolved in nitric acid can be absorbed through the skin. Gloves are important. Nice example of amalgamation and recovery.
Using chemicals can be dangerous if you don’t follow procedures and use common sense! Learn your chemicals, learn the dangers and use precaution! Mercury is safe if you use safe steps and collect it when done! My mercury is always collected and put back into a vial, the stuff that brunt off is down outside and away from others and my self, THIS IS GOLD THAT WAS LOST IN MY PROSPECTING ADVENTURES! This is the stuff I collect and crush for safe keepings! Hey you never know! A 1/4 gram is a 1/4 gram more then I had, Be safe Be smart and have fun! Gold Prospecting in any form is awesome!

You can take your Black Sands and roast them in a skillet outside and when the smoke quits coming off of it let it cool and pan it out it works
Interesting, just by burning off? Would it work by just torching the black sands in a fire resistant mortar? (mortar and pistol)
Very interesting video Martin. Can I make a suggestion.. when squeezing out the mercury in the cloth towel use a meat fork to help with the twist. I’m a chef and use this method when removing water from parsley in a towel. It gives you a tremendous amount of torque to squeeze everything out of the material. Keep up the cool videos
When wringing out a large quantity of amalgam it's a good idea to have the 'balloon' submerged in water in case the chamois ruptures.

Have you ever thought of using a blue bowl to remove the black sand from the mercury/gold clump? Might be easier then panning.

Good Question! So the main two ingredients the mercury & nitric acid cost under $200, now if you think about the cost to recover ratio it’s definitely not worth it in this video, but in the long term, you have so many options opened for gold recovery! Also adding hydrochloric acid aka ( muriatic acid ) which can be brought at any local hardware store or Home Depot / Lowe’s that should be added to your recovery kit, also bleach! Then you can venture into scrap gold, like old cell phones and SIM cards, broken computers, scrap jewelry! It’s basically free money once you have the correct set up! And everything you see in the beginning of this video is all that’s needed! If you have any questions or need links I can share them! Paydirt reviews are coming! Just want to venture into the other world of gold prospecting! We all keep our black sands and sometimes they can build up to heavy weighs! Crushing them and roasting them can release more gold or giving them chemical baths can release more gold!

Great video demonstrating some of the fundamentals. Excuse my ignorance but when you panned out the mercury it looked like there WAS no mercury... what actually happened at that point? Ive obviously missed something critical. 🙂👍
Do not place balls in tumbler with mercury the balls will pulverize the mercury into tiny tiny beads. I place the stainless steel ball in the tumbler in the cleaing part so while grinding black sands down with balls also cleaning your sand at sametime.

No good! Not in the same category! Only nitric acid is used in gold recovery

The beaker set was from eBay, but they also have them on amazon! There super cheap, think $7 bucks!
Martin can you just get gold out of Black Sands when your panning it without all the other stuff you're using you could always use the Dan Hurd method he also does videos showing how to get gold out of Black Sands👍🐺 all that extra stuff is just dangerous and unnecessary to get gold out of Black Sands
This was 4lbs of Black Sands! The point was this method makes it fool proof! You can run this method with pounds & pounds of this stuff, works on ultra cons too, this is gold that was either missed or released in the crushing process! I used this stuff cause I knew there was gold in there from a purchase of black sands from Washington Beach Mining! It’s stuff that 300 mesh panning is not a process that will catch that stuff!
