Hi miss.Meredith , new sub . From cen. Oregon , found your channel and just love it ! I was raised on a ranch in Texas were we had 350 Charolais cattle and all the farming fun that goes with it ! Lol . I lived there with my Grandparents and aunt and uncle it was such a wonderful time in my life . Now I'm a contractor but still raise a beef every year ! Can't beat home grown beef ! Well just wanted to say hi ! Keep the videos comin , take care , Lord Bless , Joe
Thanks so much for subbing and watching! I appreciate the kind words. That was a lot of cattle you had growing up. I had aspirations of marrying a cowboy and living in TX as a teenager...I got half of it. Ha. Take care!
Absolutely great! Thanks for this, it's fascinating. I am a cast iron skillet user! Just wipe it out, I'm with you. Homegrown beef, farm-raised! Went to The Pig, my kind of shopping!
Lol love the work on the farm. And the way you explain everything. The chicken and pastry. The next time cooking it. Get the chicken thighs with the skin on the thighs. Get a big container of Swanson chicken broth. And boil your chicken in it. We use the same Anne's pastry. Thats as close to moma's and mother n laws rolled out pastry. Keep up the great videos
Meredith; Your cell phone situation with the reception only working in one area reminds me of Green acres. The TV show where they had to climb up the pole to the roof to use their phone.

In Louisiana and East Texas we call crappy Sac a Lait. Google it. My momma switched to using tore up flour tortillas for the dumplings. We never knew the difference.
Never too much salt for me either! I say crappie the way that you do! I am from North Carolina myself! Think i will go down to the water and catch a mess of crappie.

lol @ crappies.... which is the fish i love fishing for. but you can only eat so much of it because of harmful waters here in NE Ohio, big chicken eater here... in fact my grandmother made her money teaching restaurants her receipt and selling her chicken to bingo places she loved going to.
Next time just add a little corn starch or flour and it will thicken right up. Like you I love my salt. I love your Vlogs and look forward to watching them all. You are a ray of sunshine in an otherwise drab day Thank you Ma'am.
I made this last night but we add about 6 chopped hard boiled eggs and cream of chicken soup as well. It’s the only dish I can make that taste just like my Mommas. And only made with thighs......got to have the fat which means richness.
Here in Ok. we call them crope. Good fish they have to be 15 in. long to keep them out of the lake and rivers to keep them. I like the ones that are about as long as my hand. Wish I had a pond with them in it. I'm like your husband I like my beef. When I was a boy it was my job to take care of the chicken didn't want to eat them I wanted the eggs they layed to eat. God bless you'll.
Hello farm wife you just made my day great you know I think you should get your own Television show you would put the pioneer woman off the screen. And we always call it chicken and Dumplings don’t know why. Yeah my grandma would say ok boys I need a chicken chase was on. And love your plates we have some just exactly like them. Well will have to stop here and go back and watch it again. Wishing you and your family a happy weekend till next time.
Hook me up with a show. That would be great!😅 And I’m glad I didn’t have to chase this chicken down ha. These plates are oldie goldies, but I love them. Thanks for watching!
hmmm mmm could almost smell them dumplings,I would have added lil cornbread..yup yup...I'd founder myself....all kinds of gluttony..anyway good vid, enjoyed it ..glad its lunchtime ,ill go feed my face now...keep up the good work!!!!
Never used propane always have used heating oil at night , woodstove during the day.. I think we all are going to have to grade and have rock hauled to our driveways this year.. Wind is helping but the damage is already done. Chicken & dumplings will make you feel bloated lol 😂.. But they good no doubt. We took 219 Hogs away from there last 9 days.. Not much to do this time of year , that's why I began trapping. It took the lull out of winter often called Seasonal Affected Disorder.. You wouldn't believe how many people have it and are unaware. Sunlight is important for us all , but getting outside even if it doesn't shine is just as important. Enjoy your mud , I meant week.😋
Yes, damage definitely already done around here, too. Even frozen mud is not good. I know a lot of people have that disorder, probably unaware. Hope the weather doesn't get too bad this weekend. Take care
Ha ya all! Those steak mmmm , I use Himalayan pink salt it got lots minerals ,it good for ya! Ya I drive truck and that Sun ! I've never bought himalayan salt but I've heard of it. I'll have to try it! I also need to add butter and buttermilk to my stew, that makes everything better. :D Thanks for the kind words!
Oh my gosh. Seriously, my husband will sit for hours in the truck just talking on the phone. We live in Boone, so we have a specific place that we make calls too!
Sun???? They're saying we will have a break here too... Doubt it will be enough for field work, but maybe get some fences fixed... Careful, you don't want to find the top of those boots!!😎
0:06 - It's called the Sun - which rhymes with Pun. Now then, repeat after me - Facts are simple, facts are fun, facts are here for Everyone - I bet you wish you'd thought of that! I like your continued reference to the darker aspects of Mudology & wish to confirm that primarily I'm here in a purely Advisory Capacity 😁
My Grandmaw Hooks was a country cooking woman she could cook anything make the best clicking and dumplings she would buy a Hen that weighed about four pounds put it in the pressure cooker for about two hours get it done take off the heat and then roll out the dumplings on a pillowcase with flour sprinkled on it she made them the way you make buttermilk biscuits she would get her a roller pin and roll out them dumplings and get her chicken good and got and put her dumplings in one at a time cook for about ten minutes and that fat from that hen made them taste so good one if the best meals you ever ate

Well it was in 20s today lol. Feels like winter again
lol @ crappies.... which is the fish i love fishing for. but you can only eat so much of it because of harmful waters here in NE Ohio, big chicken eater here... in fact my grandmother made her money teaching restaurants her receipt and selling her chicken to bingo places she loved going to.
Float a paper towel a few seconds it will absorb grease or put big spoon in freezer a few min. The grease will stick to it’s you skim the top.
One of my favorite video makes. I only have two or three that I like.
Next time just add a little corn starch or flour and it will thicken right up. Like you I love my salt. I love your Vlogs and look forward to watching them all. You are a ray of sunshine in an otherwise drab day Thank you Ma'am.
Aw thanks for the kind words. I will be trying this again!
Where I come from Pennsylvania we call that slippery chicken potpie and we add potatoes too
Haha I like that term!
I made this last night but we add about 6 chopped hard boiled eggs and cream of chicken soup as well. It’s the only dish I can make that taste just like my Mommas. And only made with thighs......got to have the fat which means richness.
Sounds great!
The phrase, " That's the only place we have service" you have to live it, to truly understand the frustration..
Yup. Sitting in the spot now waiting on a phone call 😅
Yummy!
Up here in the Frozen tundra of Minnesota, we call it Crop pee. Nice video.
Yes that’s how y’all say it and I love arguing with tweeps about it 😅
Rub your salt in your skillet with a half of a potato, then rinse and dry with seasoned towel. Works great.
Here in Ok. we call them crope.
Never heard it said like crope. I learn something new every day! Thanks for being here.
@@ThisFarmWife_ may not have spelled it right see some else spelled it crop-ee.
Canned biscuits make good quick easy dumplings too.
Oh yeah! Good idea ☺️
Love Love Watching You in all your Videos. AmazingLady.❤️❤️

Great video I'll have to try your simple recipe for chicken stew it looked good
Good! Enjoy ☺️
God, you are a breath of fresh air. Luv your vids
Well thanks! I always feel scared hitting publish. I appreciate the kind words.
Take care
@@ThisFarmWife_ I don't even want to talk about this weather coming. Spring can't dry this up we need Summer bad..✌️

I've never bought himalayan salt but I've heard of it. I'll have to try it! I also need to add butter and buttermilk to my stew, that makes everything better. :D Thanks for the kind words!
That chicken looks good and love salt Love your videos
Hubs says every living thing needs lots of salt 😅
Cast iron skillets make the best steaks taste even better. Thanks for showing us how to cook the proper way.
They do! Thanks for watching. ☺️
That's a lot of puns hun!
Oh my gosh. Seriously, my husband will sit for hours in the truck just talking on the phone. We live in Boone, so we have a specific place that we make calls too!
I feel ya! 😜 And I like Boone!😍
Now I need to look for those dumplings, maybe Walmart.
Yeah maybe! May be regional. But maybe another brand
I’m starving now 😂Looks amazing!
Thanks! I’ve been eating leftovers for days 😅
This Farm Wife - Meredith Bernard Nothing wrong with that! You could even freeze some and save it for later!
@@goblefarms681 Yes! If it's still left tomorrow I'll do that. :)
Sun???? They're saying we will have a break here too... Doubt it will be enough for field work, but maybe get some fences fixed...
Careful, you don't want to find the top of those boots!!😎
Lol no I don’t 😅 Good luck. Hope you can get to fences at least
Makes me want to get in the kitchen!
Do it! I made fried cornbread and took it that night to my father-in-law and that’s all he can talk about now. Going to have to make more today.☺️
Haha I like your saying!!
@@ThisFarmWife_ Your local Advisory Board suggests an 'easy to remember' alternative - "Facts are simple, Puns are fun, Mud is there for everyone" 😊
