Last weekend was busy! We shored up our cattle working pen, weaned some more calves, ground some more corn and ended it all with some homemade farm fresh blackberry cobbler. All-in-all, a long, but really good couple of days. The cobbler recipe is below - and it's way too easy and way too good for you not to go make one now, too. ;)

    BLACKBERRY COBBLER:
Melt 1 stick of butter in pan pre-heated to 350 degrees
Mix 1 cup sugar, 1 cup self-rising flour and 1 cup buttermilk
    Pour over melted butter
Put 1-2 cups berries over tops of flour/sugar/buttermilk mixture
Cook until brown on top and bubbly - around 30 minutes
Top with vanilla ice cream and eat!

Think I saw the Farmer smile just a little when he was eating his cobbler. Good cobbler will make you do that....... That last little bit at the end sure made me think. "These are the days" you said and you're right, these are the days where memories are made. I pity people who need "special events" like amusement parks, concerts, vacations and trips away from home to have good times and make memories when the best memories are often those made in everyday life and sharing those days with family and friends doing ordinary things together. On an entirely different subject: whenever I watch you "whipping up" one of your "nothing special" desserts or meals they make my mouth water, they look sooooo delicious and easy to make. In your "spare time" (LoL....like a farm wife ever has spare time) You should record yourself making cobbler, dump cake, even hamburgers the way you make them and of course steaks. Put them all on a DVD titled something like "this southern Farm wife simple recipes" and sell the DVD's on your website. What seems to you like a common (everybody knows how to make this) everyday dessert or meal, that everyone knows about and how to make, probably isn't common or even known about in other parts of the country. Just one example would be: I've never heard of making hamburgers in bacon grease but the next hamburgers I make I'm going to try that!

Well there you go , don't you just love how God use the Birds 🐦 to plant just about all plant life except for Coffee beans which some Coffee was planted by Monkeys way down in South America , and that another story for later.

My mom used to make a good peach cobbler like that using canned biscuits canned peaches and light brown sugar underneath and on top. I can also see a mixture of fruits Black berries,Blueberries,Peaches. Also butter patties on top, Melts as you cook.

Read some comments that mentioned the farmers raggedy shirt. I have a drawer full just like that and they come out on days dedicated to fixing and other times when severe tears or stains are likely. Most folks don't get that he's saving a heap of trouble by using those that way. That cobbler looks great and really easy. You're lucky to have an all-star cast in your version of farm life.
