I appreciate that he spoke up and qualified the 950 bench "In a bench shirt". That speaks to humility.
1:20 Rotate in circular motion
1:43 Cross arm over (trunk still)
1:56 Retract and Protact
3:07 Body static & Engage shoulder
10-12 reps or 30 seconds (each side)
thanks, I'm definitely referencing this when I'm at the gym and need guidance.
When the Squat University meets the Bench University.🙃
More shoulder stuff nice👍👍
The perfect marriage
@@SquatUniversity ...Until Squat cheats on Bench with Deadlift.
@@phoenixphoenix12 NOOO HOW HE COULD DID THAT
SuperD is the best. So damn smart, people should be going back and learning from all his videos, many are from 8-9 years ago. They are golden.
My guy has Bands big enough to make a human slingshot.
Can’t thank you both enough for this video. Been having shoulder pain for the last 3 weeks and haven’t been able to bench.
Went through this routine twice this morning and the pain was gone enough for me to bench again.
Thankyou!
This again is golden information. Thank you so much Squat University!
You're welcome Dennis!
@Squat University the videos you do I can’t thank you enough for. After an AC joint tear, I thought I would never bench press again. It’s been 1 1/2 years and after doing this warmup I’m bench pain free. I never knew how debilitating injuries are until I had one, and the psychological effect is by far way worse than the physical. I am forever grateful for you.
So good to hear this , i have crazy shoulder pain which preventa me from training chest properly hope this will help me
@@andrewnormand7787 really what helped me the most was rest and recovery. My injury didn’t fully recover until over 14 months but now I can do push-ups and bench press with 0 pain.
Although at the time I made this comment his warm ups did help, I haven’t needed to do them to get pain free push-ups since
Great movements! Thank you for sharing Donnie's tips and experience.
I do something similar for my hips with a short band around the knees and rotate each leg clockwise and counter clockwise. Never thought to use similar movements for shoulder mobility and scapular adhesions.
Thanks again for this, and all your content. Always very helpful and educational, especially for us older lifters trying to stay healthy.
Love this 👏 Direct and to the point. 👌
This is gold, thanks for this important information.
That bandbell safety squat bar is awesome!
Glad to see some benching 👍added in the channel
Always like before watching!!
The fact that the D man corrects him and says it was with a bench shirt makes him an even better teacher and role model, he doesnt talk bullshit and pretend he did that weight without tools
Squat warmup with Donnie please
Awesome idea!!! I love the warmup topic and it would be awesome if he can do this
@@helmutkrusemann9194 try Matt Wenning on UA-cam for the Wenning Warmups.
Another great video!
Thank you!
Great info
Thanks!
Thanks!
Love your content, big fan of the channel and all the great information you share! Would love to see a video of a floss style warmup for a full body workout!
Thank you! And i'll see what I can do for that!
you bench so much better , when you are relaxed and not stiff, i always do facepulls and mobility for my thoratic spine before benching or OHP, will try this next time
This is great! Had no idea!! Will do these now :)
Hope they can help!
Great video! Thank you once again! Could you do a video about how to perform a proper bench press, like a check list as you did in the past for the squat? It would be great! 😄
i'll see what I can do - glad you liked this video
very informative content
Good stuff!
First off... go Eagles Donnie!! I like the pants! More importantly, this was a much needed video for my shoulders. Keep up the great video content. Thanks!
Great video super helpful. Could you please do a video with Donnie for hip impingement, warm up for squat maybe
imma start doing this!
Great and informative video! Will there be another going into more physiological depth? Interesting warm-up.
I’m doing this today doc. Watching this video before chest day. I’ll tag you on IG
Love the bench press content. I would really appreciate more detail in your videos regarding the specs on equipment being used. Width of bands, resistance LBs. of bands etc? Also a recommendation on a set of bands you would recommend for rehab work? A set that has various widths tensions and etc that would cover most needs. For instance I’ve never even seen a band as wide as the one in this video. Is the width important for that warmup?
I appreciate the comment. So all the bands we used were rogue bands and you can find the exact ones based on color and width in the link I have in the description of this video!
Very nice
This irritated my shoulders for a few days, im only 80kg but maybe better on bigger guys!?
This is what I need ! 🙏🔥
Like you say, best efficient warmup in the lest amount of time .
Would you use it also as rehab..?
Thanks a ton for this one 💯💯💯
Agreed! And it depends on why the person has developed shoulder pain but i could see this being helpful especially for those who have a poor ability to control their shoulder blade.
@@SquatUniversity thanks again !! Just did this and I can feel the shoulder stabilizing muscles being activated. Both exercises. Band on front and back 👍🙏💯
TGU IS THE BEST WAY!!!!!❤👍💕
Yet another great video👍 can you please do a video on bench press itself?
I'll see what I can do - thank you!
@@SquatUniversity Thank you👍

Donnie Is huge
What are you thoughts on including rotator cuff activation for bench warm-ups?
I feel that activating the Rotator cuff will allow for correct mechanics of the GH joint.
Veramente interessante
I like this 🇮🇹
Great video! Btw what’s your opinion on sauna and ice showers intervals for recovery? I heard a few top athletes doing them.
Thank you! And I think if you feel they help you, there's not a problem with them at all.
we need a video with shoulder pain after bench pressing
"yeah lemme get the small band"
*Pulls out the bands that could hold my weight*
Hello Sir, Can we get a video on proper form and muscle activation needed for bench press
Was that Ed biting his nails out of boredom at 2.34, while the legend Donnie Thompson is going through his warm up? 🤣
I think it was more of a nervous tic searching for the next question to ask Donnie after the video ended haha
What is your opinion on a double shoulder replacement recipient, doing bench press
Also - bench with a Donnie Thompson fat pad! Most commercial gym benches are way too narrow.
This might be a bit of a silly question, but I'm kind of confused here. What exactly is the technique he is using? Is it kind of a joint mobilization or just a general muscle warm up?
Wait is that a bamboo safety squat bar in the back ground?
Were do I get one?
Would you also recommend something like this for OHP?
3000 lbs omg!
Could this be used just for upper body day in general?
Hi Doctor Aaron please help to analyse wen I do squat I see my upper body sink towards right
Please suggest me some tips on my problem
XD
Is there something similar to warm up for squats and deadlifts? My lower body takes forever to warm up.
What I find works well for me is doing banded hip mobilization (helps clear up some hip impingement I suffer from) and goblet squats. Those two exercises have really have helped improve my squat and increase range of motion before going heavy
Where can I get bands like this?
Go Birds
Benching…in elastic assistive shirt lol
This is exactly the same warmup that Donnie has been recommending for around a decade. I’m not saying that as a criticism, more of a compliment that when he found what worked he hasn’t tried to needlessly reinvent it every so often
Do you think this is enough? I do facepulls, band pull aparts and YTWL but I hate that it takes long time to warm up
@@MrSham3less I start out with Shoulderok work, then I do the band work in this video. Finally I finish up with a Wenning Warmup and on bench days I use face pulls, tricep pressdown and light bench for that warm up
@@MrSham3less how old are you if you don’t mind me asking? I’m 40 now, when I was younger I always saw warming up as time wasted but these days it’s a necessity to keep up with the mobility work. If you’re younger I’d recommend consistently finding the time as it will greatly help your longevity
When comes your new book in German 🙈😅
This is no warm up. This is sorcery.
Dont have huge bands like that
buy it
@@Oho159 im homeless
@@hsvdgwkqpm7107 so why u even care about lifting? and warm up
