This is easily the best cover they’ve done. I highly recommend checking out the original track, it kind of has a different vibe, but it’s just as good. Loathe is another metal group that I believe Sleep Token toured with before they blew up. They have some incredible songs too.

Loathe is an excellent band. You guys should react to the original song (Vessel’s version is a cover of Loathe’s song). It’s crazy how well this song fits with the ST lore even though it was written by Loathe. According to Loathe’s lead vocalist Kadeem France, Vessel at some point did a piano cover of their song White Hot and just sent it to them randomly one day. So then that eventually led to him doing the studio cover of Is It Really You. Seems like Kadeem and Vessel are friends - would love to see future collabs!
I think Sleep Token's first ever tour was a tour where they were supporting Loathe and Holding Absence. Lucas, the singer of Holding Absence always talks about how they're all still really good friends, even years after they toured together

Wouldn’t say it’s underrated, considering it’s one of Loathe’s most popular songs, if not THE most popular. If you meant “very underrated cover,” then yes, I’d agree
The original song/lyrics are written by Loathe. This is simply Vessels rendition or interpretation of the song. The original is still relatively somber but with chunky guitar riffs, drums, bass, band. The whole shabang.

Loathe actually wrote this and has their own version. Vessel simply did a cover, though he may have worked with them on the production? But I think this was all him and how he wanted to style the cover
This is such a gorgeous song. Vessel's vocals and the piano are on another level.
Speaking of Vessel tickling the keys, they have piano versions of their EP One on their bandcamp, which are just so beautiful. They might not be something to react to, but they are most definitely worth a listen.
Loathe are a band from the UK (highly recommend checking them out!!!) - this is just a cover/interpretation of their song of the same title. Loathe also had Teenage Wrist do an interpretation of it, but IMO that one isn’t quite as good.
The original song is my preferred version of the song for sure but it’s CRAZY how this sounds/reads like a Sleep Token song and if nobody told you it was a cover people wouldn’t think twice!

Yes! Finally!! I've been wanting you guys to hear this one so bad. Yes, it's fully a cover, but I think it's one of the most beautiful sounding pieces he's done, between his piano work and how he uses his voice here. I find it so much better than the original by Loathe, just my personal opinion. Definitely in my top list of Sleep Token songs. Loved both of your reactions! I’ve never clicked on a reaction so quickly. I was so excited to watch your reactions to this breathtaking song. Vessel’s interpretation of Loathe’s song is impressive. Vessel before loved to take songs from other bands that are more guitar driven and reimagine them using his musicality on the piano. He did it with Animals As Leaders, 1975, Periphery and others. To quote you guys “who thinks like this?” As an amateur vocalist I am in awe of his vocal range on this song even the stylistic cracks at the end of phrases. Loathe is great band and the lyrics to this song are haunting but I adore Vessel’s take on it. ❤ Also the synth sounds used at the beginning always reminds me of the one used at the beginning of The Summoning. I’m probably crazy. Great reaction! I can’t wait for your reaction to Hallelujah.

I love this song. I listen to it every day. It's on my "Sleep Token in order" playlist. Btw...I went to see Sleep Token at Red Rocks a couple weeks ago and it was AMAZING. "Rain" was easily the most amazing song live. I was in the front row...ADA seats and it was magical. I still feel like the whole concert was a dream and I wasn't really there. III threw a guitar pick into my hair and on top of my daughter's head. LOL. I will be 90 years old and mumbling about this concert one day. Just WOW. ❤

There is photo evidence out there of Vessel being in the crowd, at the front watching Loathe, without the mask or paint after finishing their set when they were support act for Loathe. It was a long time ago as he definitely couldnt do that now but i just thought it was cool to see how much of a fan he is of them and it definitely shows in this cover.

OH!! Well, Loathe is the band that originally wrote this song, but Vessel basically covered their song.
HOWEVER… you should definitely dig into some Loathe!!! They are very tight with Sleep Token in real life, and Loathe is like… somewhere between ST and Deftones. Elements of Shoegaze, and then full on metal. Absolutely incredible band!!!!

loathe is a band, a fantastic band. Actually surprised you haven’t reacted to them much less heard of them 🤯. The song is a Loathe song that they redid with Vessel/Sleep Token as a feature. This version is stripped down from the Loathe version, however there is a non-stripped down version WITH Sleep Token that’s even better (kind of like Bloodsport TRB vs. album versions). Recommend you get on some Loathe, you may really dig them, especially their newer stuff.

The song was made by a band named loathe this is just vessel covering it. Sleep token is my fave band and this version is beautiful but the original is worth a listen. It brings me to tears with its meaning and how it all sounds together.
Live version of Hallelujah.. AND, in my opinion, the Live Blood Sport from Lafayette (same show as Hallelujah) is just, one of the most soul crushing live performances I’ve ever seen.

I would 100% recommend you guys going through the entire album where this track originally comes from. Loathe released I Let It In And It Took Everything in like early 2020 and its honestly one of the best albums ive ever heard top to bottom. It features this track (the original version at least), and so many others that are just as great.

Loathe were touring in Europe this year with Architects and While she sleeps and i gotta say they all had a great energy on stage and the shows were superb

As far as Vessel's sound, I believe the word you were looking for Eric is Ethirial, or possibly Angelic. But I agree with what you said, however you want to describe it, it's incredible. So Loathe is a band, and they wrote this song originally. They have guitar riffs, drums, the whole thing. Vessel made this piano cover of it, since he is such a huge fan of them, and the two of the them are very close.
Side note: it was immensely satisfying to see both of you smile widely and just look in awe at the peek where Vessel reaches that high note.
