Yes, you do gain mental strength through the pursuit of achieving peak physical fitness though. It’s just not going to cover every facet of mental strength depending on the circumstances.
The most euphoric experiences I’ve had in my life is when I push harder & run faster… my Zen, my home & connection to another realm. Bring it on!! The Battle of Marathon is what you’re referring to re 26 mile run. Pheidippes ran to warn the Greeks of the Persians. (Yes, I’m an ancient history geek) .
Excited to listen to this one. From afar, I want to say THANK YOU. I finished my first TAC event this weekend in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Been shooting my bow since March (I ended up buying Hoyt based on your recommendation- shout out to Hoyt for a quality built bow). This has given me so much joy, so much purpose and so much passion in the last couple of months. I’ve even started running again after a 9 year hiatus! Thanks for your keep hammering mentality. May all the haters continue to fuel you, may they even be persuaded themselves to do something great (dare I say!), and may you continue to grow and share joy with others.
The gentleman name was Pheidippides and he actually ran 175 miles in a span of 3 days, but upon his last run was 26 miles within this 3 days( he also fought in a battle in these 3 days) the period was pre bc wilderness conditions
Just ran my longest run of 6.3 miles - gonna try to get 7-10 today. Using this drop as a sign to go for 10! Who knows - might catch the “high” and do 11 to get 10% better!!! Keep hammering and stay hard!!
You got this! Whenever i add distance I allow myself to take 30 second walking breaks at ever new mile if needed. Helps me keep going to get that new pr💪🏽
As an ex-junkie I set myself the challenge of 10miles a day for 10 days, so if I can do it you can! Problem was because I achieved my goal I thought done that don’t need to run anymore 😂 Over winter got fat 🤦🏻 reading your comment has inspired me to build it back up, see if I can keep it going this time !
In a bout of uncertainty and questioning why I’m running and training, this drop has been perfect timing to fire me back up and realize why I started. Thank you Andrew and Cam! two of my Idols! Keep hammering!
First "Marathoner" was Pheidippides. He run in two days 240k and then he run 40k to announce the win, after which he dropped dead. So he actually run a lot more than 40k.
Talking about falling asleep while running. I did fall asleep during 3 hours of exam yesterday and it was so hard to keep my eyes open even i really wanted to and I try breathing technique where you breath in and out to increase alertness and I felt worse doing that coz I wanted to throw up just be coz how sleepy i was. It was a nightmare. Yes, I butchered my exam and slept on my desk while waiting the exam ended coz I was afraid I might have a heart attack or pass out if I kept trying to open my eyes. Jesus i couldn't even open my eyes. It was hell.
The original marathon runner died after running the 26 miles to deliver the results of "The battle of marathon", thus the name. The extra 0.2 miles was added when Elizabeth II wanted to watch the London marathon pass one of her palaces(I forget the year.) Completely agree that endurance is much more mental than physical.
Yesterday was day 41 of my running journey. Just hit a 10 mile run and before that my longest was 3.4 miles. Keep hammering/ stay hard!!! I’m loving endurance training the waves you go through are addictive
I am a two time state champ at wrestling and a world champ in jiu-jitsu and to make sure you make weight, make sure you are also stronger than others it takes a lot of endurance. When I go run I always do better when I run with someone so when we do cardio I always am 1 or 2. But everything is mental too and the one with the best mental endurance will succeed and make it further.
I think smiling is doing more than just psychological work. Its feels like the shape and geometry of the mouth is having a tangible physical effect in the same way that our posture effects our levels of nuerotransmitters.
Such a cool and enlightening conversation that we plebs got to be a fly on the wall to enjoy. Or in this case, a fly on a nearby beautiful branch, taking in the breeze and the sunshine as words of wisdom and encouragement float through the air. 🔥❤
Endurance is a complicated matter that can be made very simple. Not suffer from inherited helplessness (my words for true outstanding mental strength and motivation not impacted by other people’s biased opinions) is no doubt THE whole grail. The rest is a never ending learning and experimenting on how to prevent lack of needed substances and healing/recovery on the go…. Starting with the obvious ones like oxygen and water …… going to macro nutrients… electrolytes….sleep…..trace substances…….preventing/fixing chafing…….etc etc etc . Learning should come from Experimenting, but one should not underestimate learning from other remarkable achievement (Google Cliff Young for example) or listen to enlightened people like on this podcast! The for good content!!!!!!
Hy, my name is Alex. One tine, from Monday 8:00 am to Tuesday 20:00 pm , only slept 4,5 hrs 1 session of 4 h of my will, and 30 min by accident. I see the explanation now, i did use milesstones and distraction instinctively and know i know why, then, i just did it without ever thinking of it. Finishing what i did was all that i had in mind, i did not care about anything at all, except getting it done. Felt actualy bad for slipping into the 30 minute nap.
when cam talks about him smiling i can relate to that alot. after hearing andrew glave say "smyle or your doing it wrong" many many many times i never knew what he truly meant. i thought he was being very literal and mean if your not happy dont do it. but this is exactly what hes talking about and idk if he even knows it.
Not happening, the dude is too big and not a real runner. If he ramps up his running volume to 60-80 k a week and loses 20-25 kg then perhaps he'll be ready to cover this distance.
@@danielmiddleham9881 You will most likely kill yourself in the process or in the best scenario seriously injure yourself. Challenges like that take a lot of training and preparation. Your body needs to develop physical adaptations before it can safely handle a 100 mile race. Yeah, sure, you can push yourself super hard and do it Goggins style - pissing blood while running and destroying your knees. But is it really mental fortitude and not just stupidity? Btw, I am speaking from two decades of running experience and tbh, I really doubt you are a runner yourself, true runners will never support this idiocy.
That 1-2 minute nap sounds like a controlled amnesia. Disorient the now to maybe clear the fog for the end task? This all rules, thanks so much for this
I like Danahers explanation which is akin to the ability to push further, which he said is to do with confidence, and how confidence is achieved throigh the doing of that particular skill, using a sword as an analogy, moulding the raw material in steel, and sharpening it as often as possible to create a sword, and maintaining it so it doesnt go brittle etc... He also laughed at the neural component 😂 But its all connected as Hubberman sez all the time.
It's ok to dope when you body has got to work extremely hard. In a way, medically supervised doping is protecting your body from falling apart and being permanently damaged.
This dude boning 6 chick's at the same time while maintaining a schedule at all is the best proof his protocol works. You have any idea how much endurance you need to deal with 6 woman??! Insane
Women run well long distances because they are light! Weight/Mass is everything in long distance - it;s the number 1 variable. Just like light guys run well. All weight! If you 45-60kg you can run all week! No issues. Try running at 100kg past 20km. All weight.
Any time these two amazing humans put out a podcast together, I gain an extra 10% endurance, thanks for the boost boys 💪🏽🙏🏽
Brings me joy to hear Cam champion Courtney so much. She’s amazing and deserves every bit of it.
I was reading Psalm 46 after listening to this podcast, and I had to smile bc verses 1-9 reminds me of both of y’all.
Mental strength speaks volumes. You can be physically at the peak of physical fitness but you need the mental strength too, I believe.
Yes, you do gain mental strength through the pursuit of achieving peak physical fitness though. It’s just not going to cover every facet of mental strength depending on the circumstances.
From everything I've heard it sounds like your physical strength is directly attributed to your mental strength/mindset.
The most euphoric experiences I’ve had in my life is when I push harder & run faster… my Zen, my home & connection to another realm. Bring it on!! The Battle of Marathon is what you’re referring to re 26 mile run. Pheidippes ran to warn the Greeks of the Persians. (Yes, I’m an ancient history geek) .
the vibes in this podcast out in the backyard are incredible 🌳☀️

this is such a beautiful conversation between two beautiful souls. God bless the Americas.
Exiting a weight lifting phase and entering an endurance training phase once again. Excited to see where this goes. Great suggestion UA-cam :)

Man hold up! That intro song is jamming! 💯💯💯
I have started a 90 day lift run study challenge inspired by these two guys ❤❤
That's what's up 🚀
Nice. Have fun, dude!

“I worry about Courtney sometimes, cuz I’m afraid she will run until she dies” yes that is accurate

he did not die
This is not the story lmao
Yeah I was there and that didn’t happen bro
Two of the best male adult role models today

It was in 1908 she asked for the start to be moved.

Amazing as always, doing my first full Ironman in September. 🔨🔨🔨🔨

We must endure. Let's go 🚀
Damn! That first question was out of the Park!!
Such a cool and enlightening conversation that we plebs got to be a fly on the wall to enjoy. Or in this case, a fly on a nearby beautiful branch, taking in the breeze and the sunshine as words of wisdom and encouragement float through the air. 🔥❤
Love the outdoor set-up for a podcast
Thank you CAM for this conversation with ANDREW ❤😊🙏
Love to see ANDREW, CAM , GOGGINS & COURTNEY on the same table 👍
Cam your the F***in' man
Great podcast!!
The original marathon - the guy ran like 250 and the last 26ish was the last leg

Love this conversation! 🙌 Thank you for the inspiration! 🙏🏼
Thank you for the question about napping.
Great video from 2 of the best. Was excited to see Cam wearing New Balance latest running sneakers in the opening scene.
I think Clay Hayes would be a great guest. Fellow bow hunter, seems fairly athletic and went 74 days on Alone. Talk about enduring!

I love you Guys ❤️ your are the best 🌟💯thank you for everything...Dr Huberman I would like to see you Running an Ultra 100 Miles 🙏🙏👏

You don't need to be "ready" physically. You need to endure mentally.
And anyone who runs is a runner. Not sure what is meant by a real runner.

Backslash is the "\" key. "/" is simply a "slash" or a "forward slash". A note for your ad break.
look at Andrew, looking good as always.
Huberman getting the sunlight in his eyes 😂

What's the name of this outro song?
I like Danahers explanation which is akin to the ability to push further, which he said is to do with confidence, and how confidence is achieved throigh the doing of that particular skill, using a sword as an analogy, moulding the raw material in steel, and sharpening it as often as possible to create a sword, and maintaining it so it doesnt go brittle etc...

Unfortunately, doping also helps some push harder for longer. So prevalent today, even among masters runners
It's ok to dope when you body has got to work extremely hard. In a way, medically supervised doping is protecting your body from falling apart and being permanently damaged.
I want a "big anterior midcingulate cortex energy" t shirt
40:40 beware, subliminal messages are in this
sounds like it says world cup but i believe it was the plane messing with the sounds
This dude boning 6 chick's at the same time while maintaining a schedule at all is the best proof his protocol works. You have any idea how much endurance you need to deal with 6 woman??! Insane
Huberman can take my girl- make it 7, what a stud he is. good lord, delicious.

uhggg je déteste quand tous les commentaires sont si louches! Donne moi du temps! ❤🐻
Your talking about the battle of marathon.
Through my years treating patients as a physio, females unequivocally tolerate pain better than men.
"He was a BRILLIANT student, but he hung around with simple minded fools, also like you."
Pheidippides didnt die .. runnig ws actualy his job as announcer news ...
