  • Sage Igniter: olefloridaflys...
    As the successor of the Method, the new Sage Igniter has big shoes to fill. It fits the bill as the ultra-fast power stick true to its bloodline, but it also brings something else to the table. Better feel and the ability to drive the fly to your target as opposed to just bombing it out there. We go more in depth in this Sage Igniter review with FFF certified casting instructor Gene Geppert.

    Nice review. I look forward to seeing more like this from you guys.

    I personally would not twist the tip 90º... changes the spine and can cause breakage and other issues.

      Where are you fishing? I live in Spain on the south coast and I can tell you that if you don't do something in the order of this suggestion then you're going to have a miserable days fly casting.... What remedial action would you recommend to resolve this issue of line jam in hot humid conditions?

      @@conslin1147 In Florida... 40+yrs. fly fishing and never have twisted the tip of my fly rod because of "line jam" in hot humid conditions... can't recall one instance of this being an issue or it causing any "misery" for me.

      @@eddieo9195 OK Eddie, then we are all inventing that this can happen for the fun of it... This happens to me when I'm advanced double-hauling (late rod turn-over, late haul) on a fast action rod in hot humid conditions with a non-tropical line.... I resolve the issue by rotating the rod (reel outwards).... Not sure what's going on here really? Or wwaterhumidagainstminimise

      @@conslin1147 ... like I said, I would never twist the tip 90º read my first comment... as far as line sticking to your rod, you might be using the wrong line in hot humid weather, if you use a line that is not designed for humid tropical conditions then that's on you (that's what's going on) if twisting the rod tip works for you, then enjoy. Or wwhatevermakesyouhappy

      @@eddieo9195 Thanks for your input. I twist the whole rod if I get this kind of friction resistance.. not the tip section. In an ideal world we would all have Rio tropical lines (or similar) in tropical climates... For the humble folk who only have three or four non-specialist lines then twisting the rod can help... I would even suggest, as do the guys in the video, that line stick can occur with tropical lines too.... Silicone oil can help too... Please Eddie, don't tell me you have anything against silicone oil...

    Can someone explain to me the jamming issue in hot humid weather. Never heard of that issue before.

    • @OleFloridaFlyShop
      @OleFloridaFlyShop  6 років тому

      Scott sometimes in the heat and humidity your line will feel like it doesn't want to shoot freely through the guides, like there's some friction working against you. It's not a major issue, but it's noticeable. Gene's little trick there eliminates that feeling and allows the line to shoot like normal.

      @@OleFloridaFlyShop is it because the heat expands the coating on the line?

    • @Muushondje
      @Muushondje 6 років тому

      There is nothing you can do about that than taking another flyline with a different compound of the coating.

      I get this on my NRX in hot weather... Screws the haul up... The rod stops feeding back line during the double-haul until there's like 50 feet of line outside the tip... Was good to hear that others have had the same issue

    How would this rod compare to the Sage One?

      It is much faster than the Sage One. More about power where the One is more about finesse.

      Bullshit. Except for the "locking up" and some of the funky casting style this was pretty good. A conversation about a rod/lines target species is also something positive. They aren't fools Jeff, and a true sportsman should understand how to communicate without being such caustic.

    • @conslin1147
      @conslin1147 3 роки тому

      @@AlfredNeves The "locking up" is one of the best parts of this review.... If you haven't had this issue then please have the imagination to accept that others have. If you live in a hot humid climate (as I do) and you use a line which is not tropical, which happens for many people too, and you can double-haul like a pro, which is not as common, then you will experience one of two issues - the line stops feeding back after the haul especially if all the head isn´t out of the rod tip (clearly friction against rod blank and guides) or as you haul you get a jab-jam, where you just encounter total friction resistance against the haul. Rotating the rod does help this problem. They suggest rotating the tip section of the rod 90 degrees (perfectly valid) and I would suggest rotating the whole rod (reel pointing outwards). The only issue is that they have fished in conditions that some commenters clearly have not.
