All those missions brought misery, devastation and humiliation to the native tribes living here before Spanish arrived. There is no single word about it in this video.
That was fun watching that again. I sent the link to my friend, Susan who loves the Missions. So funny, we were just talking about the Missions a few weeks ago and I mentioned your name and this project. Glad you posted it!
How many cigarettes does this narrator smoke daily? The mic is picking up his inhalation before speaking. Stop smoking or get a sound engineer in there

Fourth graders are not nearly as interested in the history of California as you would like. Personally, I hated it. It was the history of grown-ups. Children were not mentioned at all. They also left out the native point of view, their rituals, religious differences, rite of passage ceremonies, and the female perspective. All-in-all, it is taught at schools in a very "white" way. If a child doesn't want to learn something s/he shouldn't be forced. Compelled to learn about bullies at the mission when I wanted to learn about the pioneers that crossed the prairies and Greek mythology. I learned the most on my own. F school.
Oglethorpe Zippelmeier It's still important to learn. It may have been taught incorrectly, but we shouldn't omit California slavery just because it wasn't pretty. It's sad that many teachers buy into the "they were just bringing progress and civilization" story. Thankfully, my mother taught 4th grade, and did her best to give me and her students a more balanced view.
singingnymph Of course it's important to learn. Choosing to learn something versus being forced to learn something one has no interest in is the point. The power struggle exists.
A wonderful film. Thanks for making it available on You Tube!
I have grown old and feeble. I will return to California and see and worship at the Missions.
We are descendants of the Spanish. We are still here. We love our country and we will fight to protect her.

Muy hermosas las misiones españolas. Me encanta la herencia hispana en los Estados Unidos.
Marco, you're were a teaser and not the complete video that runs 1 hour and does indeed include San Buena Ventura
I visited five so far I pray one day I can complete my mission journey ❤️😊
California missions are a great way to show how European Catholics lived off the backs of enslaved/force-converted native Californians.
Just like you liberals want to live off the government and hard working tax paying middle class.
Thank YoU this will help for my project!

Just convert them into small museums containing unbiased, fact-checked information.
