    Hey this is fantastic! Thank you for sharing the knowledge. Just curios though, how long did it take you to learn to create the anime shader and make it work with the render / scene settings etc.

    • @YisenCinema
      @YisenCinema  Рік тому +1

      No problem at all, thanks for the kind words! I worked on and off on the anime shader and style for 3 months or so (starting at my video "How NOT to make a 3d AMV in Blender") and over that time I found shortcuts, optimisations and refined it a fair bit. I'd say roughly 60-80 hours of time were spent working to get it to this stage? (With much help from much more skilled artists and youtubers than myself). Hope this answers your question alright, let me know if you have any others :)

    Hi, thanks for the Tut. How should I go about making a metal-like toon shade, like on a model of keys or kitchen utensils?

    • @YisenCinema
      @YisenCinema  Рік тому +1

      No problem! I think that by using the metallic slider on the principled BSDF node you can add some metal elements- if not maybe using a mix shader to combine the metal with the toon shader could work. Not 100% sure sorry but I'm sure there are tutorials out there for it, and I know my friend made some metal stuff in anime style recently too!

    how do you use the image textures? you just kinda brushed over it without showing much

    • @YisenCinema
      @YisenCinema  Рік тому

      Sorry bout that, guess thats an issue with this shorter format as well. If you skip to 40 secs in the video you can see I just place a colour ramp between the image texture node and the base colour socket of the principled BSDF node. You can just drag and drop any image texture from file explorer into Blenders shader editor to try out. Hope this helps

  • @grey9704
    @grey9704 Рік тому +1

    How do you decide where the sliders go on the color ramp? Is there a certain amount of "shadow" I should be aiming for? Still figuring out how I would set up a lit up scene using a toon shader.

    • @YisenCinema
      @YisenCinema  Рік тому

      Hey there, I would say it is really up to personal preference. If you roughly use what I show you'll get a decent baseline, but tweak it till you get a lighting look which fits the mood you're going for, or whatever fits with the rest of the scene/the colour you use. Apart from the shader, you can also change the angle of the sunlight to affect this look. I would recommend backlit or sidelit on an angle- perpindicular or front facing lights can look a little flat. Sorry if I explained poorly in the vid, hope this helps :)
