- @BenDowdy sent me this incredible contrabass harmonica and man oh man what a cool cool harmonica! Way different layout than Hohner’s two tier hinged system. I wish I had this back when I played bass harmonica in an old time band…plus it looks so so cool!! It’s just a really big tin sandwich 😎👍

Indeed! 15 years ago I played bass harmonica in an old time string band…now I play in a much less sophisticated, but essentially the same style of band so I gotta use it for that certainly! Be neat to use at church as well 🙏😀

Yeah buddy! It’s a very cool harmonica…I have a Hohner contrabass as well but it’s a different design. I’ve never seen a bass like this one…I gotta re learn all the little rhythms I did with it so’s I can use it in the band I play in. Many thanks to Ben indeed! Yes indeed, my new home is and shall stay very nice and clean! It’s nice not having to cram everything in to one little room. I do miss living downtown but I can ride thé bus good as anyone else can lol. God bless you Jim!
I'm glad you got it in one piece! It takes a lot of lungpower to play that thing, which is why I didn't care for it (i got a pocket bass instead). Enjoy!

What a great gift! I haven’t played one of those yet. I have another old Hohner bass which is tuned similar to this one but starts on a lower G. How well does it project compared to your octave tuned Hohner bass?
It’s way better sounding but it’s a totally different layout as this is simply an enormous tin sandwich lol. I’m getting used to the embouchure but man this thing rings like a bell!

Me either! It’s really cool to play…easier than my Hohner, but I’m legit way outta practice on the bass harp. I’m so grateful to Ben for giving me this!
