Their precision and togetherness is just stunning, considering how many variations of speed this song calls for! :-) Love it, and play it every May 1st! Which is indeed today!
I do too! And before we had UA-cam I’d sing it myself every may 1st. I would have loved to know that someone else in the world was doing the same! Happy May Day to you!
I love music, Bach, Beethoven, W.A. Mozart, Duke Ellington, King Crimson, Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd... and I love theses guys. I know I'm not normal but I'm happy !
In that case, I'm not normal either; from Beethoven, Lizst,Chopin, Mozart, Rachmaninov, Sibelius, to Morley, Weelkes, Gibbons,Byrd through Miles Davis, Monk, to Yes, Floyd, Motown, Nat King Cole, Beatles, The Sweet, T Rex, Amy Winehouse, Pat Boone, Chris Barber, Acker Bilk, Elvis. What would life be like without music? To say pretty dull would be the understatement to top all understatements.
Ooh, it's May and suddenly this song came up and settled down in my mind from music school's choir times, though with half the lyrics missing. Beautiful!
English Medievial music at it's best.. The Kings singers are absolutely awesome... my favorites at the moment are 'New Day' and John Brunning's 'Pie Jesu' and this jolly tuen too... :0)x
Now is the month of Maying, When merry lads are playing, Each with his bonny lass, Upon the greeny grass, The Spring, clad all in gladness, Doth laugh at Winter's sadness, And to the bagpipe's sound The nymphs tread out their ground, Fie then why sit we musing, Youth's sweet delight refusing? Say dainty nymphs and speak, Shall we play barley break?

Paul and Philip's lines cut throught much better here than in the balanced recording, which I like, cos the tenor and quintus parts are the two best ones, they sound awesome.
@ProfTenor I must make a correction to your reply. From left to right: 1st (high)countertenor (david hurley)- 2nd (low)countertenor (timothy wayne-wright) - tenor (paul phoenix) - 1st (high)baritone (philip lawson) - 2nd (low) baritone (christopher gabbitas) - bass (stephen connoly)
@Lonlywayoflife Check out the concert calender on their website for more information... They're coming to Toronto in March next year. Hope you'll be able to order some tickets. Have fun!

What is Stephen C up to these days? He is my favorite Kings Singer. After a concert in Madison WI I had him sign a CD and he showed me his Kama Sutra Paddington Bear wristwatch he was wearing 😂
I miss Stephen the bass. Lovely resonant sound and a very expressive communicator too. He and the counter tenor stand out for me. Paul is a great talent wonderfully camp here too. Chis Gabbitas is an old schoolchum. All in all I love these guys could listen to them all day.
Anyone here today on May 1st 2024?
I'll be here May 1st 2025😌
Hello
My favorite way to start off the month ☺️
Hi there! Yes. And practising for performing this in the pub in Lee in North Devon on Friday.
If YT serves up the King’s Singers, they will absolutely be listened to!😄
❤ Love this song! My God! This was a choir set piece in my school competitions, overseas, over 45 years ago!!! So glad to stumble on it!
Same here! 😂😅😊
Their precision and togetherness is just stunning, considering how many variations of speed this song calls for! :-) Love it, and play it every May 1st! Which is indeed today!
Same! Hello from the future!
I do too! And before we had UA-cam I’d sing it myself every may 1st. I would have loved to know that someone else in the world was doing the same! Happy May Day to you!
@@theeow6103 happy May Day !
One of the best interpretations I've listened to. Maybe the best?

Love, This Era Of Music.
Bravo King's Singers🎵
We had to sing this every May at school. I've sung it every may since for 20 years because I love May.
We used to sing it, but never like this! Magnificent.
The gentle who is singing soprano/tenor is great! Blew me away!
This song was the “it’s gonna be May” of the 16th century.
Love this Madrigal! I have sung it many times.
Happy May!
Ooh, it's May and suddenly this song came up and settled down in my mind from music school's choir times, though with half the lyrics missing. Beautiful!
Mom and I sing this together- she's 105!!
Bless your Mom! Music keeps alive. Never forget a violin teacher at 86. Appeared to be 60.
love your music.
Beautiful Rendition! Makes me think of the Madrigals we sang in college and after. So Smooth
discovered by accident.... love it, and so appropriate for the start of MAY
After hearing Barney Fife sing this song, it is great to hear it on key!
Had to memorise for my music class a couple of years ago, but luckily it slapps so it was extremely easy
fr i got it in high school choir
Always exquisite hearing this version, the best in my opinion 🎶👍expecially as it's warm, sunny ☀️ and May again!🌞

A music to listen to in November.
Mr bean has a wonderful voice!
If you mean Stephen Parham - Connolly on the right he is a little on the chunky side but yea I see it lol. He is a fabulous bass in all seriousness.

That tenor is really getting into it.
Loved this, found it as my son is learning to play this on the piano, and it really helped, impressed with the level of singing
They nailed it
I'm here for my music activity HAHA
Brilliant! I always like to play this every 1st May!

@donletidiotruinurday His name is David Hurley, on the left side
I learned this song in eighth grade!

3rd from the left getting really into it is cute tbh

@ethalinia I believe you are referring to the tenor Paul Phoenix. He is hilarious!
Oh, and the third guy from the left makes me laugh, his expressions are awesome :)
That’s Paul, tenor, the most expressive of them!
Yes his move is so funny
SUPER GOOD.
i have to sing this for music
I can't understand what they're saying but I like this anyway
Now is the month of maying,

you can tell by looking at when their mouths move, but so that you know it goes from left to right, highest to lowest.
I've sung many madrigals with choir and have come to the conclusion that 'fa la la la la la la' means '...and then they had sex'.
ahahahahahhahaha
One cannot argue 'gainst that, haha.
Hold on, so.... Deck the halls is..... hmm XD
very accurate indeed!
Our teacher said the same.
I found the link to this video under the word sublime.
The man - third from the left is so funny :)
Brilliant :D
